I still don't get why the gloomy, dark toned cover when it's clearly a romance.
The cover screams mystery, and that's completely untrue. It's a small town romance, you get the perfect setting, the tight knit, loving community, and of course, the handsome, bulky single men.
The book started with Anna as the main character, we get to know her backstory and what made her move to the town, when suddenly we start reading multiple POVs. The transition from one pov to the other was done poorly, in my opinion. It just changes suddenly in the same chapter, so I was confused multiple times to get the hang of who was talking.
Although I loved the 4 MCs, I wish either the book was longer, or turned into a duology.
The storyline could've been much more condensed, with the writing style and strong plot, I really would've loved to read more.
I appreciate the way the characters were written. Nothing is better than characters who act their age, and are consistent with their backstory. I hated some of the decisions the characters made, however, they made sense, it was a matter of different opinions.
The sequence of each relationship was great, it was refreshing to read stories and hardships that were totally raw and relatable.
I was super sad when the book ended, I was so invested in the characters. The ending was bittersweet, I got the closure I needed and I loved how everything was wrapped up.

The cover was first drew me to this novel. The setting was an idyllic small Vermont town.
I imagined that there would be a mystery element to this book, but it was more a straight out romance.
The characters were all attractive, though troubled personalities with some emotional growth ahead of them. The two main male characters were locally born and bred, while the two female characters had just moved to Mystic, Vermont from more urban locales.
In addition to the romance, there were other themes touched upon. Betrayal, loss, PTSD, spousal abuse, and 'starting over'. There were a few 'steamy' scenes, but nothing too risqué.
Although this is not my genre of choice, it was highly entertaining and a welcome respite from my usual fare of crime and thriller. I would recommend it to those readers who enjoy romantic escapism with a tad of heft thrown in. Fans of Robyn Carr's 'Virgin River' series are sure to enjoy this book.
3.5 stars rounded down for Goodreads and rounded up for NetGalley and Amazon (where the stars have different values)
This is a story of a woman who has never lived her own life. She married and moved to her husband's home straight from her parents. Now he is divorcing her because she can't get pregnant and give him a son. Her family wants her to move back home but she decides to take control and move to Vermont when she finds a diary from her aunt. She loves her new life and home. She is finally finding the life she dreamed of including a man named Sully. When news of her ex changes her life again she and Sully fight to save their romance. A good story, well written with great characters and a wonderful small town setting. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
