I really enjoyed this one for the most part. At first I thought it was a little boring but then it became clear that there was a lot more going on. It kept me reading and has a great twist.

The Missing Husband chronicles the lives of Kate and Pete. They have been the perfect couple since they first began college, Their lives, to all looking in, seem to be perfect. Pete, however, leaves for work one day and does not come home. Kate finds a note, telling him that he has left for awhile and will not be coming back soon. He has met someone else. Kate is distraught, becoming more frantic when she discovers that he has also left his cell phone. She literally has no way of contacting him, except for his old, personal e-mail address. This is the beginning of an examination of Kate and Pete's relationship, and what actually went wrong.

This story is told in alternating chapters, by Kate, Pete, and toward the end of the book, also by Claire (the mistress). I found the situation extremely relatable, especially Kate's chapters. Kate goes into detail about the struggles of being a young mother that I found to be spot on and extremely accurate in their descriptions. The feelings of motherhood and the changing of the relationship between spouses was so accurate I could tell it was being written by someone who had been there themselves.

I loved the pace of the story, and overall, how it was written. As I said before, the story is completely relatable and still fresh and different. This book has a great twist, that I definitely did not see coming!!! Be prepared to have the story flip on it's head!

The narrators were great, and did many of the voices of the book. I loved that there was differentiation between characters, as there was a lot of dialogue in the book.

Thank you to the author, narrators, publisher and Net Galley for an advanced copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review!

Wish I could say I loved this one. Sorry, but I just can't do it.

I found the characters to be extremely unlikable. Which sometimes works for me. (Ha!) But I didn’t care about either of them. And without any connection to the characters, well...you know💁🏻‍♀️

Kate and Pete’s marriage is on the rocks. But nobody told Kate, who’s completely in the dark. That all changed when Pete fails to come home one day. Leaving his cell phone behind. With no answers and no way to reach Pete, Kate is determined to find how her husband could simply vanish.

I put this book aside to file as DNF multiple times. But, then I’d re read the blurb and say “no, it sounds so good” maybe I just need to give it a bit more time. (Silly me.)

Told from both Kate and Pete’s perspectives. And even though both narrators did a fantastic job I still struggled. And just couldn’t warm up to either the character or storyline.😫

Many five star reviews for this book. Just wasn’t my cup of tea.☕️

Perfect Marriage? Think again!

Do I hate more Pete the cheater or his Mistress Claire? Is Petes weak to have left his wife and kids or strong to get out of a loveless marriage? And what about Claire ... isn't there enough single men out there, that she has to seduce one that's already taken?

This was a nice flowing book. I was hooked from the first chapter. And really enjoyed the narration. I did see the ending coming though. But still thoroughly enjoyed it.

The Missing Husband by Natasha Boydell is an interesting thriller. Kate and Pete have been married for 15 years and appear to be the perfect couple. One morning, Pete leaves for work and never returns. What he did leave is a note detailing why he was leaving. Where is he and why hasn’t he come back to see his children?

The Missing Husband is a work of fiction that seeks to be suspenseful and thrilling. The audiobook was well executed and the writing was solid. However, this one was somewhat predictable and lacking a thrill factor.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, the narrators, and publisher for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook. The opinions in this review are entirely my own.

This book had me guessing what would happen up to the very last page. Has Pete really disappeared? How much did Kate really know? I couldn’t put this well written mystery down. It definitely had an ending that didn’t disappoint!

Kate and Pete seem to be the perfect couple. But who is? The Missing Husband is a suspense novel about a woman’s husband who goes missing and their lives chronicled up to that and then after…

This one is a good one to go into kind of blind because even doing that you may have your suspicions fairly early on in the book. They may or may not be right, though! I wasn’t surprised by the outcome but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the book. I thought the author did a good job with the twist... I will say the ending was a little “meh” for me, but overall it was an enjoyable read.

I would rate this one 3.5-4 out of 5 stars. This was my first from this author and I would recommend this book.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC to review.

This one has me hooked from the title to the end. Full of twists and turns that keep you guessing. This is my first book by this author but won’t be the last. I listened to the audiobook and found the narration to be very well done. Thanks to NetGalley for the privilege to read and review this book.

I wouldn’t describe this as a psychological thriller, but it was a good family drama. Well written, and I found it to be realistic of a failing marriage. I loved the multiple POVs. The narration for the audiobook was fantastic.

This audio book was a fun, engaging listen! I really enjoyed the narration and the characters. I thought the twists were interesting and had me roped in, wanting and waiting for more. There were lots of ways the story could’ve gone and some alternative potential pathways are opened for the reader to walk down which I enjoy. I don’t like when thrillers are predictable and I didn’t feel this one was.

This is a mystery built around the fact that Kate's husband Pete left for work one morning and never comes home. I cared about Kate and her kids which kept me listening. The audiobook that was narrated by Rupert Degas and Penelope Rawlins, Both narrators did a good job. This is a story of high school sweethearts, postpartum depression and infidelity. It starts a little slow, but I am glad I kept going..

I found Pete and Kate's marriage to be depressing and believable. If you have been married long enough, or gone through rough years, then you understand the depressing and believable. Real life happens and you have to communicate honestly with your spouse, and when you don't then characters like Claire show up in your marriage. Overall I liked this story and was surprised to find out the truth, but I definitely didn't find it thriller material and I spent most of the book feeling mildly depressed as I listened. I did enjoy hearing from both Pete and Kate's perspectives, however after I learned the truth I felt the ending was quite boring and also unbelievable.

This was my first from Natasha Boydell, but now I feel like I have to go read her other thriller because I enjoyed this one so much. Right from the get-go, I was immediately compelled by the main characters. I was so excited to dive deep into their lives and understand their relationship, when I was delighted to get a POV from the husband as well. My favorite thrillers bounce back and forth between POVs and current and past tense, and The Missing Husband delivered all of these things. I just loved the way this story unfolded. It was quite evenly paced, however at 75% of the book I thought "there is still 25% left? How?? So much has already happened and I feel like the big reveal has to be coming soon!" but was delighted to find that there was still so much of the other POVs to show before all the facts came crashing down. I had worked out what happened before it was completely revealed, but the author did a great job of leading us as readers off the trail until it was nearly time to reveal the truth. I was both shocked and not shocked by the ending because at first I was completely surprised but the more I thought back to the events leading up to the reveal, it made so much sense. This is one of those fast paced domestic thrillers that will really stay with me because it was so perfectly delivered. Really looking forward to more from this author. Th

A 3 person perspective of a failing marriage and cheating. The different views is what kept me entertained.

I am a sucker for books involving missing people (morbid, I know. Don’t come at me), so when I read the premise I was excited to dive in and figure out wtf happened to Pete.

The book started off strong and I was hooked. About halfway however, the chapters started becoming tedious and repetitive. Kate’s chapters were “How do I do this on my own” and Pete’s were “I like Claire, Kate dOeSn’T uNdErStAnD mE”.

Okay, I got it. You both literally said the same thing in every previous chapter - at this point they felt more like a “filler” than anything to do with advancing the plot. I did find myself enjoying Pete’s chapters more, but that’s probably because Kate’s seemed too whiney (okay they were both whiney but Pete’s were tolerable).

The author threw in Claire’s narrative towards the end & I found myself wanting more of her POV instead of the 3-4 chapters that were given. The ending was as I suspected; there wasn’t a “wow” factor and there were a few loose ends, but it didn’t make me upset lol

3.5 stars - thanks to NetGalley for an ARC

Where to begin?? I suppose I should start by telling you that I was very pleasantly surprised by this thriller.

Kate and Pete are your average upper-middle-class married couple. They have a beautiful home and family. Everything is perfect. Or is it?
Soon we learn nothing is what it seems. For years Kate has been struggling to keep it all together. Her marriage, her kids, her career, and her friendships are all in a state of desire.

Pete, however, is not willing to keep up the facade and he is ready to move on. Pete plans to escape with his new lover perfectly, but perhaps he missed a critical step because he goes missing on the day he had planned to move out of his and Kate’s idyllic home. Pete says goodbye to both his lovers.

Kate is left to pick up the pieces all while caring for her two daughters. the more she digs around the more she finds out about the life Pete was living in the days leading up to his disappearance.
Despite all the new challenges Kate is facing she seems to begin to not only survive but thrive.
Yet, something is not right.

My thoughts

I very much enjoyed getting lost in the story of both Kate and Pete. Each of them tells their story, sharing their feelings and point of view. Each with valid points for how they feel. This book is more character-driven, so if you are looking for a nail-biting thriller, this may not be the book for you. What you will find is a wonderfully written story with rich character development.

Kate and Pete have been together since they were teenagers. Fiifteen years later, they are married with two daughters. Pete has a good job and Kate is a stay at home Mom. One day, Pete heads to work and never returns home. She finds a note that says he has been unhappy for a long time and he has met someone else. She is very distraught and is at a lose about what to do. She tries to contact him but he has left his phone at home and has deleted all of this social media accounts. The book has a dual timeline of what changes Kate makes in her life to get along without Pete and another timeline of Pete's actions with his new girlfriend in the months leading up to his leaving. This is an interesting story of a woman finding herself again after her husband leaving and has a surprise twist in the story. I recommend this book.

This was one of the best audiobooks of the summer for me. It's the story of a presumably happy couple with two young daughters, who appear to have it all. The book begins with the husband leaving for work, but never coming home. The wife finds a note, saying he was leaving her for another and not to contact him. From that point, the events leading up to that day are detailed, as narrated by each of them, until again reaching the present. There are all sorts of possible resolutions to this story, and this leads to a very startling ending! I finished the book, thinking, Wow! That was really something! Definitely worth your time listening to this one!

I know I am off the minority, but I figured out the twist early on, before the halfway point. There were still some surprises to be had.

Though I was able to figure it out - I do read the majority of my books from this genre - I found it a great read.

A few POVs to help the story along and keep you interested.

The narrators did a great keeping the characters straight so you never got bored
