I enjoyed the the mystery and the suspense of the story, but the desire that Samuel has for Emma had me all a Twitter. I liked the plot behind the story, it definitely held my attention during the book. I definitely liked that the book was a page turner. The romance between Samuel and Emma I thought was the best part. Their relationship was a slow process, but as they dove deeper into their spying they held nothing back. This is a good story.
I received "The Virgin who Bewitched Lord Lymington" from the fabulous Anna Bradley and Netgalley and voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Ths is a captivating historical romance with heartwarming characters. Emma Downing is the fourth young girl Lady Clifford saved when she was 15. Samuel Fitzroy, the Marquess of Lymington is in London to help his cousin, Lovell, reunite with his former fiancée. Unfortunately, Emma believes the cousin may be involved in the disappearance of 3 housemaids from the Lymington household. Samuel is annoyed and perturbed by Emma constantly trying to be wherever Lovell happens to be. As the story progresses, Emma and Samuel seem to be after answers to the same questions, and this proximity leads to an electric attraction follwed with sweet tender kisses. Anna Bradley had me hooked from the start and her ability to captivate her readers into the storyline is amazing. This story is full of suspense, mystery, intrigue and most importantly, a beautifully budding romance. The dialog between the characters is heart wrenching and I definitely felt all the emotions. I absolutely loved this series of the Swooning Virgins Society
It's an Anna Bradley romance! Of course you're going to like it! Highly recommended! Put the book in your shopping cart this instant!
Emma, an ex-courtesan, is trying to find out what has happened to several young women who have gone missing from Lord Lovell’s estate. Samuel, Lovell’s cousin, is looking for the same answers. The author concerns herself with the who, what and why of these disappearances. I feel more emphasis should have been on the who and especially the why these disappearances occurred. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Kensngton Books for my honest review.
The fourth book in the Clifford Charity School for Wayward Girls, where a secret society of extraordinary young women conspire to bring England’s wickedest aristocrats to justice . . .
Emma Downing has been tasked with uncovering secrets at the Lymington family’s country estate—the scene of a rash of mysterious disappearances. Samuel Fitzroy, Marquess of Lymington, is no easy mark, and Emma fears he may see through both her disguise and her feigned indifference to his seductive charm . . .
Recently returned to England after a long absence, Samuel finds his family in chaos amid disquieting rumors floating about town. Yet irresistibly attracted to Emma despite his mistrust, he joins her in a daring game of cat and mouse. For Emma will unearth the truth even if it brings ruin to Samuel’s family—but the threat is as inescapable as their mutual desire . . .
I love this series. It's a stand alone and it is easy to follow even without reading the other books. For those who have read the earlier books, it's nice to see cameos/references to the other characters. :) Emma is just as interesting, smart and brave as the rest of the friends. Love her a lot. I do like her with Samuel a lot. The romance is terrific- as expected from an Anna Bradley. Thoroughly enjoyed it a lot.
