This is a cute little book centered around little mouse and his family, which comprises of other little animals such as Grumpy The Iguana, Mr. Squirrel and the Green Parrot. This was a lovely way to teach children that your family can comprise of many different people, not just those that resemble us. The book features topics such as supporting others, patience and being kind and helping others, namely the Giant Sea Turtle. The story felt a little unfinished and I appreciate it's part 1 of a story, but would most likely need to be read in tandem with the rest of the series. A good message with nice illustrations. Thanks to NetGalley and Canoe Tree Press for an advance copy of this book.
I have loved this whole series with these characters and this one was just as good as the rest of them I've read. The illustrations are really cute and the characters are relatable.
Was a great book, me and the kids both loved it, plenty of bright pictures for the kids to look at. The kids Enjoyed the fact that I was just like one of the characters in the book, definitely a big hit, will read again.
This story begins with Little Mouse wishing for a beach day. The Green Parrot, Grumpy the Iguana and Mr. Squirrel agree to go with him. When they arrive, they see an area of sand roped off with yellow tape. They discover that the area in where the Giant Sea Turtle’s children were laid. He enlists the help of the others to assist when the turtles hatch.
The Babies on Board title insinuates that there will be babies on the paddleboard. Instead, the book abruptly ends before the eggs even hatch. It goes through the fact the animals are friends, that they are playing in the water when Little Mouse gets tossed into the water and is saved by Giant Turtle. They all plan for when the eggs hatch. Then the book ends. It is disappointing not to be present when the plan is put into place. It ends before the baby turtles hatch or make their way to the water. It is a letdown. I understand that there is a Part 2 but do not see why two parts are necessary.
I received an ARC from Canoe Tree Press through NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion or rating of this book. I am voluntarily submitting this review and am under no obligation to do so.
This was a very cute very sweet book perfect for babies and little children. Feel like reminding your child of their days as a baby? This is perfect. This was sweet and exactly what I needed for a fast pace read I felt like was good enough for the children around me. I really did love this book and found myself smiling through it. It’s a perfect children’s board book. I can’t say much on it, but it’s definitely worth the purchase!
Cute children's book. This is the first book I read from this author and I was intrigued by the cover and title. Glad I decided to read it. Loved Grumpy and the little mouse. Highly recommend.
Little Mouse puts his paw into his Wish Box and recovers a wish that says; BEACH DAY WITH YOUR FAMILY. Oh boy, it's going to be a great day now with his new family... a new adventure is on the horizon. He gathers Grumpy the Iguana, The Green Parrot, Mr. Squirrel and off they go to the beach for the day. Little did they know what would be in store for them.
They put on their beach attire, and Grumpy and Green Parrot bring along "a beach umbrella, snacks, water, and a huge paddle board." The happy family is all set to go.
While at the beach an unfortunate unexpected occurrence happens to Little Mouse. His scary mishap results in a reunion with an old friend, a sea turtle, who just happens to be in the area. This gives the thankful group an opportunity to help the sea turtle out as he awaits the birth of his hatchlings.
The author very cleverly introduces important environmental issues to kids as they engage in the story giving the book an educational element. I like that aspect of the book. The illustrations are simple, large and very kid-friendly. The book highlights friendship, diversity, acceptance and the love of family. It's a sweet book which I recommend.
I read this with my niece, it was very fun but a little simple in terms of graphics. I lack in creative ability and believe that I could have drawn something better. This was a fun book about a little adventure in the life of a little country mouse.
It's a very silly book but identifies an important concept, sea turtle nests and protecting the eggs and allowing them to get back to the ocean. It's a great story about an inter species friendship, and promoting the concept of loving someone even though they may not look the same.
This was a quick fun and sweet read that I believe any child would enjoy!
My daughter and I loved this cute children's board book about Grumpy the Iguana and his friends mouse, squirrel and parrot, who meet their friend sea turtle at the beach, while he is waiting for the birth of his children. The illustrations of the book and the text are fantastic, the characters are really cute and the story is nice. The only thing I didn't like is that the story stopped just before the babies were born and I had been looking forward to seeing them. I will hopefully see them in part 2 of the book soon!
Many thanks to the author, publisher and Net Galley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Great idea of a story but it seemed very long winded, and the story didn't even end.... Its a To be Continued with book 2.
I don't think this would keep many children's attention and not sure they would remember it by the time the 2nd came out either.
Like I said, great idea of a story and the illustrations were cute but just wasn't for me, and i know my children would not pay attention for long
The characters are very cute and I was looking forward to information about sea turtle hatchings, unfortunately, the book ends very abruptly before anything happens! We don't get to see the turtles hatch or learn about what happens when they do. The book just. ends with Mr. Squirrel having had enough of the beach and deciding to leave and the rest of the characters getting ready to wait.
I'm glad there's a part 2, but this still felt like an abrupt record scratch to an end.
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review.
