Brooke's entire life revolved around the pub that had been in her family for generations. But after the recent death of her father, she's finding that running the pub with just her mother is slowly draining her. Yet, she doesn't see a way to give it up either. It's her world.
Brooke's older sister Rhianna had married young to a well-to-do young man and disassociated herself from the pub, her family and her humble beginnings in order to satisfy her controlling husband.
Both sisters are now at a crossroads in their lives, and it's hard to figure out what things they want to hold onto and what things they're ready to get rid of. But it seems unlikely that they'll both be satisfied with the outcome. The question is, who will win out in the end?
This book interested me because in many ways it reminded me of my own sister and myself. Our personalities are very different. Yet, somehow, losing our dad last year brought us together in a way that nothing had before. So, the idea of reading about two sisters finding their way back to each other was exactly what I was hoping for, and definitely what we got in this story.
I especially loved the ploy their mother, Janey, came up with to help them tackle a problem together. I could see that happening in my own family too.
Overall, I was very pleased with the growth this family achieved and the hopeful way the book ended.
Thank you to NetGalley, Hera Books and Lisa Swift for an ARC to review.
Thank you for the advanced copy.
I really enjoyed losing myself reading this, fantastic writing and 3 great central characters.
Made me laugh and even made me cry, well worth spending an evening reading this.
I received an advance copy of, The Sister Pact, by Lisa Swift. Their is no better friend or enemy then sisters. This is a nice book about sisters, secrets, and love.
I've been reading some heavy books of late, so it was nice to dive into something a little lighter.
I have read several of Lisa's books & enjoyed them, so it was a no brainer that I would this one too!
The three female characters were very well developed, strong characters, all equally as stubborn as each other. A very well written family drama, uplifting, realistic & will leave you wanting to read more about the Highwayman's Drop public house & it's resident family.
Brooke Padgett is the Landlady of the Highwayman's Drop public house alongside her mother Janey. Older sister Rhianna Garrett has reluctantly moved back into the pub after discovering her husbands extra curricular activities. Can they all live together in harmony & push aside their differences to save their relationship & the pub, whose future is under threat.
Many thanks to Netgalley for my ARC in return for my honest review.
