This book was the definition of a slow burn and was a bit of a roller coaster that ended up taking me by surprise.

Siobhan, Miranda, and Jane all get stood up on Valentine’s Day by the same man. When confronted with standing them up, Joseph Carter doesn’t have a good excuse to give, but for some reason they all forgive him.

Jane was definitely my favorite of the three women. I liked the mystery to her storyline and that she was a bit awkward and uncomfortable and was working towards finding herself. Miranda was also great with her strong personality and independence. She is a tree surgeon and one of few in the UK. Finally, there’s Siobhan. She took the longest to grow on me as an Influencer and life coach.

I don’t know if it was because I was reading this book at the same time as another or if it was the way the story played out, but it took me until I was about 50-60% of the way through to really get into it. That was the point where I started to figure out what was truly going on. It was hard to understand what all of these women were in love with Joseph which I think contributed to part of the difficulty I had getting into this story.

Once the book did start to pick up steam I did fly through it. There are some wonderful storylines and lessons in this book that really resonated with me and I hope that people give this book a full chance. Each of the characters in the story have their struggles and O’Leary writes them so well.

I think because of the slow pace, even though I ended up loving the final 40% of the book, this isn’t my favorite of O’Leary’s. That’s not to mean it’s not a great book, it’s just that Flashshare and Road trip were SO good. I cannot wait to read more by O’Leary and this book just continues to cement her as an auto-read author. If you haven’t read her books yet, what are you waiting for?

Cleverly written, The No-Show by Beth O'Leary introduces readers to three women who have little in common except that they are all stood up by the same man on Valentine’s Day. On the surface, this book seems to be a women’s fiction centered around our three main characters as they delve into their own lives and relationship with the elusive Joseph Carter. In reality, it is much deeper than that, addressing mental illness, grief, and trust. O’Leary brilliantly weaves these women’s lives together proving that what’s on the outside doesn’t always match the inside.

Siobhan Kelly is a life coach who needs to take her own advice and prioritize her life before things get to be too much for her. Miranda Rosso is a tree surgeon who isn’t used to being the role of girlfriend but happily relates to being “one of the guys.” Jane Miller is a quiet character who works for a charity shop after leaving a scandal behind her in London. The only thing these women have in common is Joseph Carter.

Joseph Carter is handsome, charming to a fault, and always late. On paper, he’s the perfect boyfriend. Attentive, sweet, endearing, and quite lovable. But there is a mystery about Joseph that as the reader you are desperate to solve. Why is he with all three women? And AT THE SAME TIME?! This personally drove me batty trying to figure out because it didn’t match his character. He is devoted and loyal to each of these women and was not at all the sleaze I was beginning to think he was. This mystery drives the story, and y’all I could not have predicted the twists and turns along the way.

Overall I really enjoyed The No-Show. While I was expecting a romcom, this is more a women’s fiction with a romance side plot. I loved all three women. Each one had a distinct voice in the book, and I found I couldn’t chose a favorite by the end. And Joseph…I’ll be honest I was hating on him pretty much through the first three-quarters of the book (I do NOT like cheaters in my stories), but he won me over in the end as well. If you enjoy a little mystery and romance, I highly recommend you grab a copy of this one as it will not disappoint.

Thank you @netgalley and @berkleyromance for the gifted copy of The No Show - all opinions are my own.

I think this is O'Leary's best book since The Flatshare - this book was superbly plotted, I loved how everything came together at the end and each character came off the page so well. I'd recommend to anyone who enjoys British contemporary fiction.

Perfection. Beth O’Leary truly knows how to write an engrossing story. The characters were all so well developed and uniquely interesting. And the female relationships were so lovely. I would recommend this book to everyone looking for an emotional women’s fiction read!

Beth O’Leary’s “The No-Show” is a work of art 👏🏻

The story follows three women who are all dating the same guy. All three of them are stood up by him on Valentine’s Day, and the story follows them as they work through it.

For the sake of avoiding spoilers, because i think the less you know about this book the better, all i will say is that you need to go in with an open mind because things might not be as they appear 🤫

This book absolutely blew me away. Not only was I emotionally invested in every characters story arc, but I was also just so interested in understanding how the pieces of this all fit together.

This book has it all: romance, plot twists, amazing character growth, a little bit of mystery, reasons to laugh and reasons to cry. If you pick this one up you will NOT be disappointed.

Do you have a character name that you love? For me, it is Siobhan. Obviously, little me in Los Angeles pronounced it wrong in my head for years. But when I figured out it is pronounced as Shivan, I loved it even more.

Well, there is a Siobhan in The No-Show and I loved this book so much that character was just icing on the cake.

It is the story of 3 women who have nothing in common except they were all stood up on Valentine’s Day by the same man. The women have to untangle the truth before they each get their hearts broken. Oh wow, did I love this book. My heart is full. I loved the humor, I loved the romance and I loved the twist that had me crying, clapping and smiling like a dork. It was heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time and the absolutely perfect rom com with a hint of mystery.

Wow, what a plot twist! At first, I wasn't so sure about these characters. I wanted to read "The No-Show" because I enjoyed other books by Beth O'Leary and I knew I could trust her, even though the plot seemed a little odd to me. I thought I would hate this man for lying to the girls. I'm so glad I was wrong and this book is amazing!

“The No-Show” by Beth O’Leary tells the story of three women who don’t know each other and have nothing in common except for the fact that they’re all involved in a relationship with the same man (Joseph Carter).

Siobhan is a life coach, Miranda is a tree surgeon, and Jane is a volunteer for the local charity shop. The women all face various struggles and have very different personalities. Although Siobhan, Miranda, and Jane are all stood up on Valentine’s Day by the same man, they forgive him and let him back into their lives.

I haven’t read a book like this before and I loved it! The book had such an interesting storyline and twist! Joseph Carter had many redeemable qualities and I enjoyed reading about how different Siobhan, Miranda, and Jane were. This rom-com was a delight to read and I cannot wait to read more of O’Leary’s books.

The No-Show is a refreshingly, clever, heartbreaking romance that I absolutely LOVED! Joseph Carter's character was lovable even when I thought what a "jerk." Just give the story time to come together then you'll be crying with him as he shares his emotional rawness around love and grief.

The story is a suspenseful novel as you begin to understand the timeline, the women and why Valentine's Day is so hard to show-up. O'Leary is a wonderful storyteller.

This book will definitely be on the top of my reads for 2022.

Thank you Berkley Publishing for the complimentary copy of this novel.

Not at all the book I was expecting, and I'm actually...pleased about that?

I really don't want to give away much more than that, and uh, yeah.

This is one of those books where you want to go in knowing as little as possible. I will say that is quite different from her other books, but still on brand?

I picked up The No-Show because based on the blurb, I thought this would be some sort of feminist revenge fantasy. Said blurb:

Three women who seemingly have nothing in common find that they’re involved with the same man in this smart new rom-com by Beth O’Leary, bestselling author of The Flatshare.

Sadly this does not end in a sisterhood pact over this man’s grave.

Despite my wrong assumptions, I hoovered up this book in less than a day, sighing happily at 4 a.m. once I reached the HEA. Because yes, there’s a happy ending for most of the women dating Joseph Carter…

Show me a @betholearyauthor book I don’t love 🥵🥵

The No-Show is O’Learys newest book set to release April 12th!!

The No-show starts off with three women realizing they’ve stood up on Valentine’s Day….by the same man, Joseph Carter. What seems like a jerk just standing up his dates ends up being so much more.

I really really enjoyed this book! At first, the triple POV had me a bit confused and I found it difficult to keep all 3 women and their stories separated (but that’s just me being bad at keeping characters apart). I also didn’t really understand how this jerk stood up 3 women on Valentine’s Day and was lying to them all…but halfway through the stories, the truth started to untangle and the PLOT TWIST was unreal. UGH was this a great story with a twist I did not see coming. Definitely make sure to grab this on April 12th!!

Another Beth O'Leary book that did not disappoint! I'm not going to lie, this one fooled me for a while. I was not thrilled about potentially three women in a tussle over a lying, cheating man. However, the author played me like a hoe-down fiddle or maybe it was more like a deeply resonant violin. It was such a wonderful surprise of a book. I LOVE when a book surprises me and this one snuck up on me. I kept thinking "How is this going to work?" and the ending really delivered. I don't want to give anything away, so I feel like the review can't be too long or it might turn spoilery. If you are in doubt, I think you should give this one a try and be prepared for a few twists and turns along the way. Give it some time and trust the story. It's very well done. 5 enthusiastic stars.

The No-Show is an exemplary addition to the genre. Each woman featured had totally won me over in her first chapter, with complete personalities written in a few short pages. Carter had me on tenterhooks the entire time - I really did not want to like him, but he kept winning me over, until the hurt from the woman I loved even more colored the edges of my vision again. It wasn't an emotional roller coaster ride, but something quieter and poignant, stronger in its restraint. The HEA felt earned, not shoehorned, and O'Leary use of narrative time skips worked very well.

This book left me speechless. Completely, utterly speechless.

But in the best possible way. Where I don't know how to put into words my thoughts and feelings on this book--particularly without spoiling it--but I want everyone to know how amazing it is. This story alternatives between the perspectives of three women: Siobhan, Miranda, and Jane. All three have unwittingly been stood up on Valentine's Day by the same man. All three forgive him, and what follows is an entangled story that is certainly more than meets the eye.

I mean, this book is so creative and so original I just need to give the author a slow clap. Just picture me, clapping very slowly, acknowledging a job well done. I'll just say, I didn't see the twist coming at all, and when it did, it shocked me. And not the twist, but what comes after, made me cry--though that could have been the COVID talking (I was already very congested). Like, big fat tears, down the cheeks.

I cannot recommend this book enough and I am sure it'll remain a favorite for the year.

Thanks to Berkley for my eARC and finished copy! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

5 stars - 10/10

Joseph Carter seems to be a bit of a player, he appears to have stood up 3 women on Valentine's Day.

But as we meet Siobhan, Miranda and Jane and date Joseph it just feels like he is in love with all of them and they are falling fast for him. But this book isn't what it seems. It is about love and relationships but it's also about grief and life. There are a lot of good things in relationships but there are also difficult things and barriers and past experiences.

I kind of read someone's review and read that there was a big twist near the end that changes your view on Joseph. And this story isn't at all what you think it is. And damn at 86% you broke my dang heart into teeny tiny pieces. Be aware this book does some major weaving so if you get lost easily pay attention. There are a lot of clues if you look but it's not as straightforward as you think.

I am pretty sure I am with Siobhan that I am scared to miss out on life and to be left behind. So all the talk about that just went right into all my little feel buckets and made them turn over. I can't get them balanced again. I am scared to leave things undone or my kids or my husband. I don't want to be the reason my kids have issues later in life cause I said the wrong thing or I am gone. Silly to think things that aren't happening but I am a mom and I worry those things. And my kids keep having me watch the Adam Project which is making me cry too. ugh don't lose a parent, I don't recommend. Just don't lose anyone lets keep everyone.

Thank  you berkleyromance and netgalley for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.

This book just confirmed my love for O’Leary’s writing. She writes unique and unexpected stories every single time. I guarantee you haven’t read anything like this one!! It’s definitely my fave since The Flatshare!

I’m not going to give too much away here, I definitely think it’s best to go in blind: Told from the perspectives of three very different women, the book is not at all what it may seem. I found myself turning pages so quickly because I knew there was more to the story!! I wouldn’t call it a light romcom and it doesn’t at all follow a typical romance story arc, so if that’s what you’re looking for you won’t find it here. BUT, if you love her previous books and British romances like Josie Silver and Sophie Cousens, I think you’ll love this one!!
