At this point I just need to accept the fact that I will adore anything that Sarah Anderson creates. There's something about her work that makes me feel so seen, even when she's writing about moments that tend to make me feel lonely. Her art is amazing, of course, and I laughed out loud several times. If you ever feel a bit odd and want to feel less alone while having a laugh, just work your way through the Sarah's Scribbles collection!
I will honestly read anything by Sarah Andersen, her doodles are amazing and she definitely encapsulates exactly what it means to be an Oddball.
I love Sarah Andersen’s comic strip on Instagram so when I saw she was releasing her fourth book in the Sarah’s Scribble series, I immediately read it. As I was expecting it, I laughed and smiled and found it very relatable most of the times. Also I love cats and there are quite present in this book.
I recommend to people looking for a fun and relax read.
4/5
For whatever reason I was unable to download a version of Oddball for review. This is a shame as I am sure I would have enjoyed it just as much as every other instalment of Sarah’s Scribbles. Sarah writes with a truth and wit that is hilariously and sometimes spookily accurate. I will be picking this one up for sure to add to just collection!
I LOVE Sarah Andersen's books. She perfectly captures the angst, anxiety, and awkwardness of being a late 20s-early 30s millennial. Every time I read one of her books, I cringe, laugh, cry, and then laugh some more. Sometimes I swear she's been watching my life. If you've ever felt like an oddball, this is the perfect single sitting read. Then, turn back to the beginning and read it again. I am sure I will be paging through this one often.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an eARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I was looking for laughs, but only got a few smiles.
Although I liked it more than the previous book, there are things that, frankly, were beyond my comprehension. I think Sarah has a gift, like that of some comedians, of hitting the target with surprising acuity, and it induces us to recognize ourselves and laugh at the absurdity of the discomfort of our daily lives, however she also falls into the danger of totally avoiding the target. when it is not the right audience.
Still good for bookish people, and weird introverts.
I still do not understand why they call these drawings 'cute', there is no such thing in their humor style.
Oddball was so much fun to read. I related to it as a cat owner, 20 something, who struggles with mental health. Sarah brought up so many relevant topics for today and made them funny while still validating the struggle. This was the first I've read of Sarah Anderson but I will for sure be picking up more of her work now!
Book 4 in the Sarah's Scribbles books, this follows Sarah as she navigates life as an oddball with her friends, her pets, her hobbies (or obsessions) and somewhat touches on the pandemic. I have loved all of her books, and this was no exception! If you like slice of life books, or have liked her previous books, this will be a must read! I love the simple drawings and the uber relatable content (being a bit of an oddball myself).
I have followed and read all of Sarah Andersen's work. This is another that's hysterical...but also sad, just in that it hits close to home. So many of these are accurate of my feelings, but also relevant in modern events. Andersen is quirky, fun, and hilarious. Another hit!
I got this on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review!
I LOVE all of these comic strip collections, and this was no different! I find myself laughing and saying "Meeee!" at a lot of these, and I just love Sarah's style and humor in general! I especially love any of the strips that include the blurry image as one of the squares 😂
Would overall really recommend it, ESPECIALLY if you already love Sarah's other stuff!
Although this is the fourth book of Sarah's scribbles, it is my first foray into the comic graphic genre. These illustrations are so hilariously on the button, poignant and provide a glimpse into the soul of any introvert, who like me can feel just that little out of whack with the rest of the world and a little socially awkward! It also helps if you like cats and dogs, as these feature regularly. Sarah grasps what it is to be navigating this weird and wonderful world and packs it between the pages. I cannot wait to discover the back catalogue of books. My only complaint is that I wanted more pages! On the plus side it is easy to read in one sitting and one you will keep picking up to peruse. #oddball #sarahandersen #netgalley
Sarah Andersen is the perfect slice of life comic for me. I completely relate to her love of cats, her weirdness, her indecision regarding clothes and her premonitions of oldage.
This book brought me a lot of joy. Something I really need right now.
If you're having a very dull day and need a chuckle and a little brightness in your world, pick up a copy of this book. You wont regret it!
Note: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All of the opinions are my own and this did not affect my review in any way.
Ever since I read Adulthood is a Myth I have been obsessed with the author and her work, so when I got the opportunity to read and review her latest work I knew I had to take it.
Oddball explores the evils of procrastination, the trials of the creative process, the cuteness of kittens, and the beauty of not caring about your appearance as much as you did when you were younger.
In reality there isn’t anything truly outstanding about this book, it is just a comic about everyday things that all of us has done at one point or another. Don’t go into this comic expecting some kind of plot or order, you won’t find any. What you will find though is a hilarious collection of comic strips that are able to capture what it is like to be human and flawed in just a few pages.
The best part for me about this comic is that it is extremely relatable. I could picture myself in almost all of these scenarios and I laugh out loud multiple times while making my way through this book.
I recommend this comic if you are looking for a past, quick, pick me up that will make you smile all the way through. This is the definition of a feel good book because even though the comic is about the author and her “struggles” you are able to connect and relate which makes the reading experience so much more fun.
This comic won’t take you more than 1 hour to read so I truly recommend for you to pick it up and give it a go, it’s totally worth it and the art style is amazing.
Thanks so much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for allowing me read and review this book.
First time reading Sarah Andersen. As always I am so late to the party.
This book is brilliant. The writer captures the frustration, quirkiness, humor, and life experience of almost all generations very successfully with her unique drawing style. I haven't laughed while reading a book in a long time. With the laughter and joy provided by the author in difficult times, this graphic novel is going to be such a treasure for me.
Thanks to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for providing the ARC of the book for reviewers.
5 Stars (I received an e-arc from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review)
I love Sarah's comics and how relatable living her life with anxiety is for everyone being the oddball/ goofball. There isn't much to talk about since there never is a specific story for more than a couple pages but always had me laughing out loud quite a bit.
Sarah Anderson does it again with her hilarious comic collection Oddball. There's something so earnest and funny about each comic. The comics are so relatable to life as an introverted millennial. I can't wait for her next collection!
Absolutely cute and fluffy!
This volume is my favorite out of the series. The book involves some of the very up-to-date topics such as quaratine, Gen Z vs Milennials, etc. I find these comic strips incredibly entertaining and also very relatable as they made me giggle the entire time. No doubt Sarah's books are adored by so many!
I love these cartoons! I was a big fan of the art and panels I’d seen of these before picking this up, and this did not disappoint.
The writing and situations are so witty and relatable. Meanwhile the art makes them easy to consume.
This is the kind of content almost anyone can connect to
funny, cute and so relatable.
after reading this ARC I immediately went and pre ordered myself a physical copy, because this book just brings a smile to my face no matter what.
i love Sarah Andersen's content!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the ARC of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Sarah's Scribbles always brightens my day -or night. Everything she draws is so relatable that it makes you suspect either the artist is spying on your life to draw inspiration, or you *are* the artist, but you don't know anything about it because you have a multiple personality disorder that you're not aware of. Joke aside, Andersen is awesome at what she does, and I hope she'll keep it up for long years, giving us the chance to read more of her books and laugh wholeheartedly.
