I absolutely love Sarah's Scribbles comics by Sarah Andersen and this collection is wonderful. I was thrilled to be able to review the ARC for free and jumped at the chance to provide my honest review. I love Sarah Andersen's artwork and her wit is so sharp and hilarious. I laughed out loud so many times when reading this book. The cat comics are so funny and true! I highly recommend this book to everyone and will be a great asset to any library collection.
I stopped following Sarah a few years ago, but I was very intrigued to find her latest book on NetGalley. So I checked it out and it did not disappoint - very relatable, and their style & humor is quite unique. This book definitely has something for everyone, while always being approachable for anyone who doesn´t follow them on social media or haven't read their previous work.
Review to come November 15th to blog/goodreads.
I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.
I was so excited when I spotted this book up on Netgalley. OMG, more Sarah Scribbles, I need this so badly! I just love Sarah's works and I look forward to a new comic every time. Seeing them bundled makes me even happier.
Like with all of these collections, most of the comics I already know. That is what you get for following the artist. XD But I don't mind rereading, in fact I greatly enjoyed seeing comics I know and love pop up in this book. And there were even a few that I apparently missed/haven't read yet, so that made me even happier. While reading I also shared plenty with my husband, who also loves Sarah's comics and also doesn't mind a few re-reads.
In this comic collection, just like all of her collections, we see comics about mental health, intro/extraverts, about cats many many cats and all they have seen, about parties and friendship, about giving people love and compliments, expectations, and much more. I could relate to many of the comics and that is also what I so love about Sarah's comics, how relatable they are. Also, I will definitely do the same as her for 2022, get ready and set a fighting stance. XD I also so loved the two Medusa comics and would definitely vote to get more of those as they were so fun!
Her art style is just wonderful, I really like it!
All in all, I cannot wait for the next bundle and in the meantime I will read the comics on Twitter/other places if I see them pop up. I would recommend this book to all.
Thank you netgalley for the chance to review!
I absolutely loved it! The comics were absolutely adorable and I related to it so much!
*I received an advance copy from NetGalley, however my opinions are my own*
This book was hilarious and relatable! Sarah does an excellent job at capturing the experiences of being young person (Gen Zer) in your 20s. Each comic is hilarious and I love every comic strip she does.
I am so excited to read another Sarah’s Scribbles. Every page brings me LOL giggles and pure joy. She seems to capture everyday life, a woman’s thoughts, and the mishaps of loving a cat in every little square illustration. This addition to her collection meets all expectations.
Another silly, goofy, lovely gem from Sarah Andersen. If you love her drawings and earlier work, you would love this too. There are strips about millennial problems (and the other generations), cats (of course), generation gap, the 'artist' problems, quarantine routines. I always enjoy Sarah Andersen's comics and yes, I chuckled, laughed (Tik tok dance? Detours (That's totally me)? witches?) and pointed saying 'good one' at many of them. Perfect to flip through and immediately make your day better.
I really love Sarah Andersen works, so I was excited about the new book!
I got the familiar humour and cuteness in this book. Some of the comics was familiar from earlier, but it has new topics, like cat owner's life, friendship. But I find in it the usual topics too: millenials, introverted everyday life.
It was fun, but it didn’t give much novelty anymore.
I read Sarah’s first collection and enjoyed it, so I was excited for this one. However, other than a handful of standout comics, this was just ok. Much of the focus was on cats and millennial humor, which doesn’t land as well for me as a dog-loving Gen-Xer. I may simply be the wrong audience. Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book was absolutely amazing! So many of the comics feel Ike your inner thoughts and feelings revealed. Others you read and all of a sudden realize this is a totally true experience defined!
Loved every page of this book!
Thanks to NetGalley for this review copy!
I've never met a Sarah's Scribbles book I didn't like, and this was no exception. I always just wish there were more!
Hilarious as always! If you like any of the previous Sarah Andersen books, then you will like this one!
I always enjoy Sarah Anderson's comics. They're so funny and relatable! I look forward to seeing more books from Anderson.
sarah andersen's cartoons and memes are widely popular in social medias and these collection includes some of them from the year 2020. it was fun, quick and quirky read. i had previously read adulthood is a myth and enjoyed it. oddball features lots of gen z and millennial humor with sarah's fun artstyle. recommended if you need something light and a few laughs. 3.5 stars.
Oddball is a fantastic and relatable compilation of short comics from Sarah Andersen. This hilarious collection will make you smile and laugh aloud. I particularly loved the comics featuring witches and cats! Andersen captures powerful introvert moments and moods specific to the pandemic. It is short and sweet, making it the perfect compilation for anyone who is a fan of Andersen’s art. Andersen depicts moments relatable to introverts, cat lovers, witches, and provides reassurance that oddballs everywhere are not alone. Oddball releases November 30, 2021. Thank you to Sarah Andersen, Andrews McMeel Publishing, and Netgalley for a free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
As a fellow introvert, procrastinator, pet lover, anxious millennial and awkward human, I enjoyed this collection. Some of the comics were quite funny and relatable.
I am deeply concerned that this "Sarah Andersen" did not feel it appropriate or necessary to contact me before publishing a biography of me, personally and specifically, particularly if this author was going to include such detailed and accurate drawings of my daily life. That is the only explanation I can imagine as to why every single comic in this book made me go "AhahahahahOW." How else could anyone so exactly and hilariously capture how I am feeling all of the time? How does Sarah Andersen know that leggings turn me into a weirdo with elastic limbs? Or about my sporadic need to switch to FROLIC mode? Or what a beautiful perfect idiot my cat is?? Very spooky. But as this book will tell you, I love spooky. 5 stars, no notes, why am I misty-eyed about a four-panel comic featuring Medusa? A+
I might be in the minority on this one but I wasn't that impressed and didn't find the cartoons to be funny. I was interested in reading Oddball because Sarah Andersen's books are always featured in the Goodreads Choice Awards for graphic novels, but this just wasn't for me.
I really enjoy Sarah Andersen's style, her vignettes are super cute but the books always feel a bit too short. I wish there was more to read. I would hesitate to buy it for myself because of that, which is a pity as I do really enjoy her work.
I've learned to love any and all books by Sarah Andersen! They're so relatable and hit a tad bit too close to home in ways I never thought I would experience. Her comics are funny, sad, and heartbreaking at different moments. They're a great escape from the real world and I would recommend them tremendously!
* I received an eARC of this novel from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
