As they say in Tiktok: "I've never had an original thought in my life".
A funny and relatable book that captures the last two years of millennial online life.
This was just lovely. I am a big fan of Sarah Andersen and this did not disappoint. So many of her comics are relatable and incredibly funny. These books are ones that you can flip through when you're having a bad day and instantly just feel better. I will be buying a hard copy once it's available and it will join her other works on my shelf.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC!
Sarah Anderson's comic strips and Instagram account is one of my favourite accounts to follow. I have read all the previous books in Sarah's scribbles collection and I was so excited to read it when I saw the ARC. The forth book in the series 'Oddball' is collection of some of her latest arts and additional contain. It includes humorous and very relatable puns, jokes and everyday moments that we feel, see and share with each other. Sarah captures our emotions and feelings and pour them into this book. This collection involves her art on the subjects on introverts, extroverts, avid readers, quarantine, adorable cat, and some more. I personally and probably relate to them on every level. I have enjoyed this thoroughly and I look forward to more!
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for eARC.
I always enjoy this series. It helps me take a break and relax with silly images for a short amount of time. Even when some of the scribbles speak to me at a spiritual level, I don't have to overanalyze or overthink anything, just laugh and enjoy it.
I love Sarah Andersen’s comics, the drawing style (only a few lines to tell a story), the witty insights into the lives of younger generations (I’m gen-x), and her ability to put herself out there, insecurities and oddities alike.
Oddball is the fourth book in Sarah’s Scribbles series and a solid continuation of her work. I laughed out loud and was moved in equal measures (Medusa with a blind cat will stay with me a long time). I recognised myself in many strips (introvert author here), but in a good way, like sharing a secret with a likeminded soul.
If you’re new to her work, this is as good a place to start as any, but why would you rob yourself the pleasure of reading it all. And the fans will love this like all her work.
I received a free copy from NetGalley in exchange of an honest review (but will buy the book, because I absolutely need it).
Sarah Anderson never disappoints. I always find her comic book style layouts so easy to flick through and her humour is spot on.
As with her other Sarah Scribbles books, Oddball is funny, current and relatable. As a fellow oddball introvert, i adore Sarahs work and would recommend this to anyone looking for a lighthearted laugh.
I’ve been following Sarah’s Scribbles since it got released on Facebook many years ago. Her comics are adorable, witty, laugh-out-loud funny, and oh so very relatable. “Oddball” is Sarah Andersen’s fourth book in this series, and it is an entertaining collection of comics addressing issues such as navigating adulthood, procrastination, life as an artist and an introvert, and an obsession with cats and frogs.
Her drawings are adorable as always and some of the comics are really funny and relatable. I’ve always enjoyed her comics and this was no different. This book is a quick read and great for a pick-me-up on a bad day. It makes you feel that you’re not so alone in your struggles, so don’t be too hard on yourself!
Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the e-ARC.
Cats, anxiety, and finding the right kind of weirdos to befriend in your life... Sarah's Scribbles are highly relatable for this X-ennial and I will not pass up the opportunity to caress this book in person once it is released (I hope it's fuzzy like the previous ones in the series!). For now, this e-ARC will have to do, though. I think there are some repeats in here from the 2020 calendar, but there are a lot of new comics and I really enjoyed the new? Medusa character.
I received this book free from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Once again, Sarah Andersen delivers another collection of signature comics that many readers will relate to, especially with regards to what's been going on the past two years. I always look forward to when another Sarah's Scribbles collection is released because it means that 1) Andersen is still creating and 2) there's more content where I find myself. Sometimes sad, sometimes uplifting, readers will still delight in Andersen's comic collections.
Always recommended!
I love Sarah Andersen's comics - they highlight the complexities and nuances of life as an introvert with a great amount of humour. Oddball is a short and sweet comic that is definitely targeted for cat-loving introverts (which is me to a tee).
Many thanks to Netgalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for a copy of this comic. ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.
I'm a huge fan of Sarah Andersen, and this newest comic book is another hit!
Her honest and open comics are full of laughs, and her unique viewpoints come to life in her hilarious slice-of-life comic shorts.
Highly recommend!
Rating: 5 🌟
Oddball is the fourth installment in Sarah's scribbles series, and it's a delightful, joyful read as usual. This time around, there are cats, frogs, Halloween, and the most important part:
“Never dim your light for others.”
I've always admired how Sarah incorporates elements of self-love into her work 💛
Thank you to Netgalley for providing this arc.
A perfect fun way to make us feel as human as one can be, with all our differences and peculiarities.
A must-share comic book.
Love it!
When I saw that a new comic book by Sarah Andersen was about to be published, I had to take it on NetGalley of course!!
I'm obviously still in love with her art, style and humour!! I kept recognizing myself and my friends and I loved that some strips were actually serious behind the seemingly light tone. I loved that it represented the odd, the weird, the awkward, but also the kindness and love behind it!
So, still a fan! Hope there'll still be more in the future!
I really enjoyed this book. Sarah's observations about life, the universe, and everything are funny, charming, and relatable.
This collection is cute, funny and relatable. While reading this I found so many pages that brought back the memories of quarantine in a lighthearted way.
What I loved most about this were the pages dedicated to reading (the enemies to lovers one was chef's kiss). I could relate to those the most and I found myself grinning from ear to ear because hello, that's me.
The title - Oddball - is perfect for the theme of the novel of not fitting in, being "different," and trying to find your place in the world.
Lastly, the art style, although simple, makes it easy to fly through the novel because you don't waste time observing details and you just focus on the fun that the pages convey.
Overall, I would highly recommend reading this collection!
I love Sarah Andersen and I've bought her other "Sarah Scribbles" books because I've related to them so much, I have no doubt I'll end up buying this one too. Oddball explores what it means to be a *cough*geriatric*cough* millennial these days, as we dress for comfort more than style, embrace our inner cat lady, and the chaos of the creative artistic process - though that may be different for everyone.
Highly recommend for fans looking for a humorous glimpse of dark, witty reality.
Oddball is a collection of one-page short ‘stories’ that show us some weird moments and facts in life. Some situations are very familiar, that is why they’re funny. 3.5 rounded to 4.
Thanks to the Andrews McMeel Publishing for the ARC and the opportunity to read this! All opinions are my own.
Another silly, funny and all too on point book by Sarah Andersen. The ones I relate to are the funniest - namely, the ones about being introverted and loving cats - but those make up 90% of the book so I'm all good. If you have that specific kind of weird shy personality that makes you "get" Andersen's work, this is another gem.
I've long been a fan of Sarah Andersen and her scribbles, and Oddball is yet another heartwarming, hilarious, and hashtag relatable collection. The comics run the gamut from giggles to outright guffaws, with Andersen's instantly recognizable style. Just a delight from start to finish, and the only problem I can find is that there isn't more of it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review!
