Another great collection of comics from Sarah Anderson! Her simple but expressive style is captivating, and I always laugh at her jokes about millennials.

Oddball just made me enjoy reading with it's cute artwork and story. It's also so relatable and it made me laughed-out-loud that I had to let others see what I'm reading from the pages.

Cute, fun comics about Millennial life, cats, art, fandom, social awkwardness & anxiety, and more. Loved it—laughed a lot and read in one sitting.

If you've ever read one of the Sarah's Scribbles books (or even just single panels found on the internet), you probably already know what you're in for. And this fourth installment was, as usual, 20 minutes of pure fun. I don't know if it's the pandemic or what, but I found most comics even more relatable than usual. There's really not much one can say because there's not really a story and each page is just a funny standalone vignette, so if you want to get a feel for it I suggest looking up her accounts and see if you like her style. I always recommend these comics either for yourself or as a fun gift.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of this title. I have been a fan of Sarah Andersen for a long time, and had seen many of these on Instagram, but enjoyed them again - and again and again. Her work is so simple but so poignant!

Oddball is the fourth comic book of Sarah Andersen’s that I’ve read, so it probably doesn’t come as a surprise to hear I enjoy her work. 🤣 Oddball feels like the natural evolution of things: a series of comics that are as charming and relatable as her previous work, but that embrace her weirdness more openly and confidently than before. Andersen’s art reminds us that it’s okay to be who you are - even if that person is an oddball.

Sarah Andersen is a genius with a fantastically relatable little creation. This collection of her work is funny, insightful, and makes this tail-end gen-xer laugh AND groan internally, because so much of it is so on. the. nose. It feels universal. I love little doodled Sarah.

I've seen Sarah Andersen's comics online before but never knew they were published as books! They're hilarious and totally relatable. I only wish the book were longer! I enjoyed every single comic but the cat ones are my favorites. I like the fandom and introvert ones a lot too.

Sarah Anderson's collections remain some of my favorite works of sequential art. My library has all of her other books and Fangs was one of my favorite purchases last year.

Her work continues to be relatable and the self depreciating humor always brings a smile and a laugh from me. I highly recommend any and all of her works. Her slice of life art has a little something for everyone and her art, though seemingly simple is well done and visually appealing.

I can't wait to see what she brings to the book table next!

You probably recognize these comics from memes shared around social media, even if you don't know that Sarah Andersen is their creator. I have read and reviewed several of Andersen's Sarah's Scribbles books for NetGalley at this point, and I have always enjoyed them. One of the things that I particularly like about them is that a reader can pick up any of the books and find something to laugh at and relate to without any prior knowledge of the artist or the comic. My personal favorite comics were the ones about cats and the ones about reading and being part of a fandom, though as an amateur polyglot the comic about being dumb in three languages resonated strongly with me.

Overall, these are charming, often self-deprecating, amusing slice of life comics that will go over especially well with most denizens of the Internet, regardless of generation. I recommend this book without reservation.

4/5

Thanks to NetGalley for providing the e-ARC in exchange of honest review.

I love this so much!!! The illustration is so cute with big, kind of creepy eyes hhahahah and it's so simple yet relatable! I have heard of the author before but never really tried her works. Seeing how much I had a good laugh for this one, I'll definitely check out her other comics! Also, wished this one is longer aaaaa I'm sad that the comic is too short! I need more!!!

My favorites are the one about fictional characters and life lessons. I can relate a lot to them especially when it comes to shipping the heroin with the villain or vice versa.

I adore Sarah Andersen's comics. They were funny and a lot of times they were very relatable. Oddball is the fourth book in this series but it can read on its own. I'll recommend Sarah's Scribble series to everyone who wants to read really heartwarming and relatable comics. Thank you for this early copy.

Thank you NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for a couple of the eArc of Sarah Andersen's latest Oddball. As I've said in the past, no comic can make me laugh and relate more in so few panels than Sarah Andersen. This is really on par with all her previous collections and I recommend it as a great gateway to her collections and to existing fans.

The topics in Oddball include social awkwardness, anxiety, the pandemic, pets, reading, being introverted, and more. Reading it reminds me so much of my younger self, when I easily get embarrassed to go out there, was unassertive, just wanting to be alone and read, and tends to overthink things. I’d like to think that I’ve already overcome some of those characteristics— at least to a degree.

This collection of scribbles is a laugh-out-loud read with scenario after scenario that would make you think that maybe, you’re taking your life too seriously. It would make you think of the things you’re not aware of doing, and perhaps that includes your pets, who are probably out for blood every time you forget their mealtime. Lol. Speaking of pets— there’s a ton of cat jokes here that are silly and just adorable! If you’re a cat person, in particular, you’d get a kick out of the charming cat jokes here.

Although I’ve seen half of what I’ve read here in memes online, I still find them funny because of the author’s way of writing, as it is very engaging and relatable. If you’re looking for some light reading that would make you laugh-out-loud, and get you out of your funk, then this could be the perfect read for you.

I received an ARC of this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Sarah Andersen has done it again! The comics are so heartwarming and the ones regarding the time during the pandemic are relatable and funny. One day maybe we will be handing these to our children when they ask "What was the pandemic like?" rather than reliving the entire thing. It will be good to show them we laughed through our tears. Just kidding (kind of). As always, will be recommending this one to everyone.

Title: Oddball
By: Sarah Andersen
Pub Date: 07 Dec 2021
Publisher: Andrews McMeel Publishing
Genre: Comics, Graphic Novels, Manga

Oddball is a short graphic novel that shows the reader just some of the eccentricities that happen in the lives of others. From day to day scenarios to the absurd, Sarah finds the funny truth to it all.

Andersen also manages to capture the truth and make it funny, even if it is awkward or a harsh truth.

Though I have been aware of Andersen's work for years this is the first book I have read cover to cover. It is not at all surprising to find that I loved this book. Some of Andersen's previous works have found themselves being made into meme's and I had loved those so it;s only natural I love the original works.

I chucked my way through this book on what was not a great day. It made it so much easier to forget the stressful day I had and I was glad I read it just before bed. I went to the land of nod with a smile.
