The third in the Amanda Steele series opens with a bang, so to speak. In the wee hours of the morning, Angela Parker nudges her husband Brett and tells him there's someone in the house. While he investigates, she gets their very young daughter Zoe, then hides in the closet. She hears Brett being shot, and then with dread, waits her turn as the intruder discovers her.
Steele is called to the scene, and she and her team (plus everyone else who shows up at a murder) move around the interior of the house, looking for anything to give a clue as to who these people are, what they did for a living, and if they recently mad someone incredibly mad. They quickly realize that Zoe is not there - not in the closet, not behind mom in the closet - and think perhaps the intruders have taken her. The child is about the same age as Steele's daughter was when she died, and eventually Steele finds the girl in a wicker basket at the foot of the bed.
Zoe, for her part, traumatized by what she's seen and heard, does not speak - thus, the silent witness. Much of the first third of the book revolves around Steele gaining Zoe's trust and getting her to talk and Steele's own, constant, inner thinking about how she misses her daughter and doesn't want to get close to Zoe. Despite this, she does wind up taking Zoe in, since the girl is likely in danger.
The team pulls the strings of the investigation, eventually pulling in a connection to another case involving a sitting rep in the city, a hotel seemingly in the middle of nowhere, another unsolved murder, and corruption under their noses.
The pacing is fairly taut, and the writing is fine - no major bumps except the drumbeat of Steele insisting to herself that the kid will be put into the system, that she can't handle it, and so on. That did get a little old by about the 60% mark, but it eases up toward the end.
The end...I'm not a big fan of bad guy infodumps at the end. But we get one, and not a bad shootout to go with it, which kind of made up for that.
Solid three out of five stars.
Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for the reading copy.
The Silent Witness by Carolyn Arnold is the third book in the Detective Amanda Steele series. After reading Stolen Daughters, I eagerly awaited the release of The Silent Witness. I could not wait to slip back into Amanda’s world.
This time around Amanda and her partner, Trent, are investigating a double homicide. Someone shot a couple three times at point blank range. Who shot them and why was the question on everyone’s mind. Meanwhile, the couple’s six-year-old daughter, Zoe, has gone missing. Amanda, while searching the house, found Zoe hiding in an ottoman. Despite the joy of having found her, Amanda recognized the danger Zoe faced as the only witness to the murders. Against her better judgement, she reluctantly agrees to take Zoe home to protect her.
Wow! What a ride. The Silent Witness lived up to its tagline of being an unputdownable read. Danger, intrigue, suspense, drama will keep you reading way into the night. The more Amanda and Trent dug, the more complex their investigation became. While trying to unravel the mystery of the murders, Amanda and Trent discover a link to the sex trafficking ring discovered in the previous installment. Soon, Amanda will realize how on point her gut instincts are.
Since starting this series I became invested in the lives of the characters. Amanda showed a lot of growth throughout the series to the point of her making a life-changing decision. This case opened the door for her to move on from the pain of losing her family by providing her the chance to develop a bond with Zoe. Soon we see an improvement in her work and personal relationships. In my review of Stolen Daughters, I mentioned not everyone she works with was in her corner. Well, the reason for this came to light.
Everyone got their just deserts, which provided the perfect ending. I can’t wait to see what is next in store for Amanda. If you decide to read The Silent Witness, which I strongly recommend you do, be prepared for an intense and thrilling journey.
Detectives Steele and Trent investigate a double murder and the only witness is a traumatised girl, 6 year old Zoe, who hid from the killer. Zoe is traumatised and unable to tell the detectives what happened but she is still in danger from the perpetrator. A tense, gripping thriller.
Full disclosure - I was provided an advanced reader’s copy of this book by the author or their representative but have voluntarily provided a review. All opinions are my own.
Through the eyes of a child
An upscale neighborhood sees a family murdered in the early hours of the morning. With the only witness being a small child, the stakes are high to find the culprits while protecting the sole eyewitness. What would prompt the brutal murders of the couple? Was it a jealous lover, motivated by the top-secret nature of the work of the deceased and potential leaking of government secrets, drug-related, or something entirely unknown? And with everyone who comes into contact with the sole survivor targeted for further attacks, Amanda finds herself the personal protector of a six-year-old girl. As Amanda develops a bond with the shy little girl she can’t help but draw parallels between Zoe and her own daughter Lindsey; but will the growing attachment to the girl help her solve the case or dredge up painful memories that she has tried so hard to suppress? As the case begins to unravel, Amanda discovers a bombshell that not only could blow the case wide open, but also has the potential to take down a few prominent players in a much larger game.
The Silent Witness is the third in the Detective Amanda Steele series of novels by international best-selling author Carolyn Arnold. In this offering, Trent and Amanda are on the case to solve the brutal murder of a couple in their upscale Virginia home, but this is not just another case by any means. With the sole survivor being a six-year-old girl, Amanda’s mothering instinct engages in a way that is terrifying yet strangely comforting to her. As the clues and leads take her dangerously close to the lingering unsolved human trafficking case with implications on a legislative and legal level, Amanda must tread more lightly than ever before. Add in the fact that her mother’s murder trial is also currently in full swing rekindling lingering family tensions and exposing long-buried secrets, and Amanda has more on her plate and more at stake than any other case to date. The Silent Witness serves as a transition piece to wrap up some unresolved cases and issues while still leaving the door open for this amazing series to continue to move forward. The character of Detective Amanda Steele is a strong, confident woman in a primarily male-dominated profession. It is refreshing to see characters such as hers, and Arnold excels at writing stories that feature strong female leads. Also, as with all of Arnold’s stories that I have read to date The Silent Witness can be read either as a part of the larger series or as a standalone offering without the reader feeling as if they are missing major parts of the story. With this arc in Amanda’s larger story apparently coming to a close, and a new series of challenges awaiting her I am really looking forward to book four to see what Arnold has in store for Detective Steele next.
Home Invasion
Murder
Traumatized young child
Amanda and her partner,Trent, make a great partnership as they try to unravel what is going on.
Love the Detective Amanda Steele series!
Action packed suspense thriller you definitely should consider picking up.
Author Carolyn Arnold’s writing keeps you engaged and intrigued throughout the story. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
Though you can read this as a standalone, I recommend reading all the books in the series. There is a lot of back story to Amanda that plays a big part in who she is and what she does.
Highly recommend reading if you enjoy crime mystery police procedural.
Thank you to NetGallery, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion. All opinions expressed are my own.
Detective steele is faced with a hard crime to solve. A double homicide and only one witness their little girl who is staying silent. What she can't work out is why they will killed in the first place. Plus the little girl finds an attachment to the Detective.
I enjoyed this book. The third one in the Amanda Steele series so I highly recommend the first 2 books before reading this one and this review.
I found this case intriguing , I couldn't stop trying to figure out who the killer was but I had zero idea or zero idea of the motive either. It was great I love it when crime books keep me on my toes. But the best part of the book was the relationship that starts between Amanda and the victims 6 year old daughter. It was so well written and as we know about Amanda's loss and inability to get pregnant again so you can see where the storyline is going and I must say I got a tad emotional.
With how the last book ended we know Amanda has her eye on the Congress man and his involvement in the child sex ring I must say I had forgotten so when we are reminded I was glad that it wasn't just a passing remark and we get to follow Amanda's suspicions and progress with the case. It was great and I must say slightly shocking so hold onto your hats.
Carolyn Arnold is a fantastic crime writer and keeps you on your toes. She manages to portray emotions on the page unlike others. The way the chapters are structured as well make it easy to read. I flew through this book and cannot wait for the next in the series. She manages to keep you in suspense from begining to end
Would I recommend this book?
Yes I would recommend the entire series. Its great the thing about this book was I had no idea who the killer was and it was such a shocker I actually had to re read. Any crime author who can keep me guessing is beyond talented to me. One thing you do get with this series there's a lot of emotions behind every word. 4.5 stars only reason it's not 5 is I have read some outstanding crime books this year and the silent witness is almost there but not quite.
Thank you to netgalley, bookouture publishers and Carolyn Arnold for the advanced digital copy of the silent witness in exchange for my fair and honest opinions.
The Silent Witness is the third instalment in the Detective Amanda Steele series. It is a gripping police procedural with lots of heart. This is my first dive into this series, and though The Silent Witness can be enjoyed as a standalone, I’d recommend readers start with book one for the greatest enjoyment. The story begins with the murders of Brett and Angela Parker. When Amanda Steele and her partner land the case, they discover the victims were shot three times each, their deaths clearly professional hits, their home has been ransacked, and their six-year-old daughter Zoe is missing. Thankfully, the girl is found, safe, but traumatised by what she witnessed and initially uncommunicative. Amanda works to untangle what happened without Zoe’s help, focusing on the Parkers and their relationship, their work, and what the killer might have been searching for. She fears that he may return for Zoe. Learning that the family’s recent lakeside vacation was cut short, she wonders why, and is that the key to their murders? She soon makes a major breakthrough, uncovers powerful suspects who will do anything to silence Zoe, the little girl who has captured Amanda’s heart. All the while, Amanda’s mother is on trial, and Amanda is still dealing with the deaths of her husband and young daughter. I found The Silent Witness to be a nicely complex story with strong main characters and recommend it to readers who enjoy police procedurals.
4.5 stars. Advance review copy received with thanks from the publisher and NetGalley. The Silent Witness has just released.
This is a must for fans of all crime thrillers,
A story of tragedy, murder, suspicions and killers.
It brings together threads from the earlier books
And goes to prove things aren't always as they look!
With great characters, relationships and history
This story is full of page-turning mystery!
Unseen, six year old Zoe is there when her parents are shot
Hiding, keeping quiet, she'll make a sound not.
Detective Amanda Steele is the one to race
To find her secret hiding place.
Now she needs to keep the traumatised child in her care
Protecting her, looking after her welfare.
Why were the parents shot?
Did they do or see something and, if so, what?
Zoe brings back memories of Amanda's dead daughter
Making her feel things, maybe she didn't ought to?
The story has plenty of surprises in store
Red herrings, danger, revelations and more.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this, such a lot,
It keeps you guessing, completing links from the series plot.
Such a great read, one of the best
If you enjoy crime thrillers put it to the test!
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley, too,
For my copy of this book, this is my honest review.
4.5 Stars: The Silent Witness by Carolyn Arnold is the third book in the Detective Amanda Steele series. This is the first I have read and although I had no issues following the story, I recommend you begin with the first book in the series. I will definitely be going back to read the two I missed and there is some overreaching story arcs. This story opens with a home invasion where a young couple are executed in their home. They had must enough time, after hearing someone coming up the stairs to hide their daughter. Amanda and her partner Trent are the lead investigators on the case. Finding Zoe, the daughter, they now have to protect her, find out what she saw and solve the case.
I really enjoyed this police procedural/crime thriller. Amanda has some baggage and flaws, but she is a great detective with amazing instincts. I also like Trent, her partner. They have a great working relationship and seem to be able to intuit what the other is thinking. They follow the clues and work with the others behind the scenes to hunt down evidence. Once they figured out what was going on, they take the reader on the journey to uncover what other clues and evidence they can find. Not all the characters were likable and some were downright despicable, but you will have to read this one to find out who they were. Amanda and Zoe have a very interesting relationship that works to help both of them heal a bit. The plot was well-developed and ties up some loose ends from the previous book. I really enjoyed the investigation process, how they questioned witnesses and friends and what kinds of evidence they collected. It made the story so realistic to me. There are twists and turns that point the way to an unexpected conclusion which I loved. A book that I really enjoyed and recommend to those who enjoy police procedurals and crime thrillers.
The Silent Witness is the third book in the Detective Amanda Steele series. This can be a stand alone read, but there are many references to incidents in the past which made me curious to want to read the prior two books. This is so well written, it draws you in slowly and building towards the conclusion. The characters are well developed and have great depth. I immediately cared about them and was invested in the story. This truly is a wonderful book and will leave wanting to read the next book.
This book starts with Detective Steele and her partner Trent called to the scene of a double homicide in which Brett and Angela Parker have both been brutally shot. While gathering information the team speak to the neighbors. The murdered couple's 6-year-old daughter named Zoe should have been in the house and is now missing. Amanda searches the house for Zoe as a mother trying to hide and keep her child safe. She discovers the missing girl hidden at the foot of the bed in an ottoman. Unbeknownst to Amanda and Trent, Zoe was a witness to the murders, is terrified, now not speaking.
The story will have many twists and turns while the detectives work to solve the murder and as Zoe becomes a target for what she witnessed. Amanda's maternal instincts will come to the surface as she tries to put her job first and also save Zoe at the same time.
The Silent Witness is the third instalment in Carolyn Arnold's Detective Amanda Steele series, set in Dumfries, Virginia.
With its excellent plot and comfortable pacing, I had difficulty putting this book down between chapters. The Silent Witness was such a compelling read, and I relished every moment. Detective Amanda Steele is really well-drawn - a determined, passionate though sometimes a reckless woman who had an inclination to be acerbic with her colleagues.
This riveting, dark tale was complex and Carolyn Arnold brilliantly builds the suspense, putting me right on the edge of my seat. The intoxicating story brought with it a cat and mouse game with the perpetrator and allowed the reader to learn more about protagonist Amanda's backstory especially the dynamics within her family. Heavy on intense drama, along with several twists, bombshells and enough mystery, corruption and intrigue to compel me to read late into the night, this was an absolutely cracking piece of crime fiction, superbly delivered. I'm keen to devour book 4.
I received a complimentary copy of this novel from Bookouture via NetGalley at my request and this review is my own unbiased opinion.
Thank you to Bookouture for letting me take part in this tour and for my copy of this book via Netgalley. This is the third book in this series but all can be read as standalones.
This book was a real heartbreaker. Poor little Zoe goes through so much, it's easy to see why Amanda has such strong maternal feelings for her. It was really nice to see Amanda open herself up. She was so closed off at the beginning of the first book and she has grown so much since then.
This case was really interesting. At first, there were just so many questions. Nothing seemed to add up. There seemed to be no motive and no suspects. Amanda and Trent are relentless though. They uncovered clue after clue and eventually everything pieced together. Amanda lived up to her surname with balls of steel in one scene.
Carolyn does such a good job of showing that a Detective has a life outside of the job too. She expertly weaved in Amanda's mother's trial and how this was affecting Amanda and her family. She showed how much dedication you need for this job and how sometimes you have to cut yourself off to really focus.
This was a tense and thrilling story that I could not put down. I read it late into the night as I just had to know what happened next.
My favorite of the series by far!!
This book was fantastic. The plot was great, very compelling, and I loved the way the story from the previous books was weaved without making it incapable of standing on it's own. My favorite part, though, was the character development for Amanda Steele. I like Steele from the first book but she was extremely, extremely bitter and hardened to the point where it was almost concerning that she was a police officer. The second book made some progress with her character, but this one did a brilliant job and rounding out the hard edges and making her not just sympathetic but loveable. She's still got her grit but she's 1,000 times more likeable.
Primarily because of that character development, I would highly, highly recommend this book to fans of Rizzoli & Isles who enjoy Rizzoli's big family life and her black-sheep cop's daughter attitude.
My only criticism of this book is that I hope the introduction of the little girl doesn't hinder future story lines, I think it's going to be tough to navigate.
BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for 'The Silent Witness' by Carolyn Arnold.
Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Carolyn Arnold, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous
Publication date 24th September 2021.
This is the third book I have read by this author. It is also the third book in the 'Detective Amanda Steele' series but can be read as a standalone. I have previously read 'Stolen Daughters' which I also highly recommend and is the second book in the 'Detective Amanda Steelw' series.
I was originally drawn to this book by its eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis and title. The synopsis stated that this book is '
A completely gripping and addictive crime thriller that will keep fans of Rachel Caine, Lisa Regan and Robert Dugoni entertained into the early hours.' I am a huge fan of Lisa Regan so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I am also a huge fan of Carolyn and if this is half as good as 'Stolen Daughters' it is sure to be a page turning read. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).
This novel consists of 39 chapters. The chapters are short to medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
This book is based in Virginia, USA 🇺🇸
This book is written in third person perspective and the protagonist is Detective Amanda Steele. The benefits of third person perspective with are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.
'The Silent Witness' discusses some topics that may trigger some readers or may not be suitable for others. I like to point this out ahead of time in my reviews so you can judge if this book is for you or not. In this book Carolyn discusses/includes child abduction and small mention of sex rings.
What an ending and yet another epic read from the very talented Carolyn Arnold!!! Congratulations Carolyn on yet another page turner!! This is an extremely well written book with vivid descriptions that will suck you straight into the storyline and captivated from beginning to end. The synopsis and cover worked perfectly with the storyline.
The storyline means that there is no problem with this being read as a standalone which is what I did. I was absolutely hooked throughout, a true page turner from beginning to end. The storyline was in depth and packed with suspense, twists, turns, shocks and was an edge of your seat, nail biting and heart racing psychological thriller. I was absolutely hooked. Carolyn has done lots of research into both police procedural and sex trafficking and this shines throughout. There's nothing worse that a book filled with minor errors as the author hasn't taken the time to do some research into the areas they have written about. I read this book in less than 24 hours and I'm looking forward to reading the previous book on this series as well as more to come. It certainly promises to be an epic series. It is one of the best books I have read this month and I really enjoyed. It was left on what I would definitely call a cliffhanger!!! It is filled with suspense, tension, mystery, shocks, love, sadness, crime and everything you could ever want in a crime novel. There were several bombshells that I was not suspecting and I am quite happy by the fate of certain people, I won't say more as not to spoil it for future readers. It is a true page turner that will leave you biting your nails on the edge of your seat with your heart racing. I loved the ending and I cannot wait to see what Amanda is going to do now!!!! Hope your busy typing the next one up Carolyn as I cannot wait!!!
Although this is the third book in the series you will have absolutely no problems reading it without the others. Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader.
I loved meeting all the characters again who were all strong, well defined and unique. I became completely invested in Amanda, Trent and Zoe. Amanda is absolutely whoop a## and I love seeing strong female leads in books. She has a background but will not let it pull her down and she is definitely someone I would love to have on my side. It was so bitter sweet watching her bond with Zoe grow and develop and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. I personally hope she gets the happiness and family she deserves but then at the same time how will she work everything out?? One can only wait and see!! Trent is another fantastic team member and they work perfectly well together. Some of the characters were less likeable (horrid) such as Hill but at the same time it was interesting to see the relationships between them and Amanda. I loved Rideout's (medical examiner) character and personality with his morgue humour and I also quite like Malone and see him as a sort of fatherly figure to Amanda. I am definitely looking forward to meeting them all again!!!
I could not praise this book enough and highly recommend. Carolyn I cannot wait to read more of your very successful work!!! I would also love to see this book turned into a movie. An absolutely addictive, compelling and gripping true page turner!!! If you have not read any books by this epic authour then you are seriously missing out!!!
Some of my favourite quotes/sayings in this book include the following:
'“But can you imagine if the murders are connected to Brett’s work ? It would have the makings of the plot for a thriller novel.”'
Overall an absolutely captivating, engrossing page turner that is compelling and addictive!!!
Genres covered in this novel include Thriller, Mystery, Police Procedural, Suspense, Hardboiled, Romance Novel, Psychological Thriller, Noir Fiction, Psychological Fiction and Crime Fiction amongst others.
I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of Carol Wyer, Lisa Regan, Angela Marsons and ANYONE looking for an epic page turner .
324 pages.
This book is just £1.99 to purchase on kindle via Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!
Rated 5/5 (I LOVED it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook.

This is the third in the Detective Amanda Steele series which can be read as a standalone, but I'd recommend reading at least the previous book in the series as there are some secondary storylines that run over into this one.
Amanda is called to the scene of a double homicide. A husband and wife have been murdered and their six-year-old daughter Zoe is missing. Searching the house, she finds the little girl traumatised and unable to speak, having witnessed her parents' deaths. The case is a baffling one, neither of Zoe's parents seem to have an enemy in the world. It soon becomes apparent that Zoe's life is in danger and it's up to Amanda and her partner Trent to solve the case.
The silent witness was packed full of tension, twists and turns, plus a few shocking revelations for the characters. Honestly, the more books I read in this series, the more enjoyable it gets!
This is a really tough case for Amanda, having to take care of Zoe while also trying to deal with unresolved issues of when her own daughter died. I'll be honest in the previous book I didn't warm to Amanda that much but after finishing this one, I feel I got to know her better and saw a different side to her.
I got a little impatient as the story neared its end. I felt it was a little dragged out, but of course that's just my opinion.
The Silent Witness is a well-written police procedural that was both entertaining and packed an emotional punch too.
This book absolutely kept me on the edge of my seat and turning pages from the start. The opening chapter gave me chills, Amanda's determination to solve the case and protect Zoe just made me love her even more. Zoe tugged at my heart strings, and I can see why Amanda felt so drawn to keep the little girl safe. I was absolutely intrigued by the new revelation's in Amanda's mother's trial (which has been an engaging side plot throughout the series). Although I highly recommend starting with book one, you can definitely dive right in with this book and thoroughly enjoy this thrilling mystery.
Absolutely, heart pounding thriller with some heartbreaking parts. Could not put this down. Love the way Amanda and Trent work together. Cannot wait to read more Amanda Steele. I was given a free ARC by the Senior publicist and Netgalley. My review is freely and honestly given
Six-year-old Zoe is awakened by her mom in the early hours of the morning to tell her that they were going to play a game. Her mom tells her to hide in the bench at the foot of their bed. I can see it all in my head and imagine Zoe’s mother telling her to hide in there and not to come out until she tells her to. Someone has broken into their home. Zoe has to lay in that box as her mom and dad are murdered. Zoe watches as the killer shoots her dad.
Detective Amanda Steele is put in charge of the double homicide. I could see Amanda walking around the house looking for clues that could tell her what happened. Clues that could hopefully lead her to the murderer. Clues that could hopefully lead her to why someone would want to kill this husband and wife, this mother and father.
The murder victim’s six-year-old daughter Zoe is missing from the home. Where is she? Did she have a sleepover with a friend? Did the killer take her? I could just see Amanda standing in the doorway of the bedroom where the couple was found letting the room tell her its secrets, secrets that will hopefully give her a clue as to where the missing girl may be or at least a lead to her whereabouts. Zoe is Amanda’s key, silent witness to the case. Can Zoe help Amanda put the pieces together so they can find the person who killed her mom and dad?
I can just see Amanda standing there with her head cocked to one side. I know the moment she believes she just may have found the little girl. I can just see her racing over to the bench opening it and low and behold there she is right where her mother left her.
Zoe is scared and in shock at what she has witnessed. She is so traumatized that she isn’t saying a word. I would imagine at this point she doesn’t know who to trust. At this moment she is just trying to process what she saw and heard in her own little way. I was in tears at witnessing this scene, the moment when Amanda opened that bench and there was Zoe. Poor, poor child.
I have read the first two books in the Detective Amanda Steele series and loved them both tremendously but I do believe that I liked The Silent Witness way better. The Silent Witness had my attention from the first page and once I read that first page I was hooked. I was pulled in with all the mystery and suspense that just kept rolling out page after page. There were so many twists I didn’t know which end was up. I was pulled in deeper and deeper with each one of those twists. Twists that I never expected for one minute.
I can’t seem to get enough of the Detective Amanda Steele series and can’t wait for the next book in the series to make its appearance. The Silent Witness is going to haunt me for a long time to come. I would very much like to see the Detective Amanda Steele series on the big screen.
I would highly recommend The Silent Witness to all crime thriller fans! One-click your copy of The Silent Witness today for another epic edition of the Detective Amanda Steele stories!
It was just a hobby and it turned out to be more dangerous than anything else in their lives. Amanda gets sucked in the investigation of a double murder case having a little girl was a witness and her whole life starts to get more troubled than it already is. She has conflicting feelings regarding the case and at the same time has to face all the proceedings in her mother's trial, and everything seems to be over the top of her head! She keeps on finding more and more evidence and the case turns out to be much bigger than it seemed. You'll get hooked from the beginning and will find yourself cheering for the culprit to be taken down. Excellent plot and very entertaining reading!
I downloaded a free copy of this book and this is my honest review.
This is the third book in the series. It references happenings in the previous two books, but can be read on it’s on. I think it may spoil some plot points in the previous books, but nothing major.
Amanda has to investigate a double murder with the some survivor, six year old Zoe, is the only witness. She struggles with her past while trying to keep the girl alive and solve the murders.
I liked the characters and the writing style. While it was pretty predictable, I still found it enjoyable and thrilling. It reminded me about f a mix between CSI and Law and Order. I think readers who like thrillers will enjoy this book.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy.
