This book was only so-so for me. The illustration was on point. The diversity of characters was great. It was a fun story with a strong message of responsibility and friendship that I believe this age group will be able to not only connect to but, will greatly benefit from, however I was alittle thrown off by the behavior from some of the characters. Bratty, and mean spirited interactions between a few of the characters makes me alittle wary to suggest it to certain young readers that I know will see it as an encouragement of that particular kind of behavior.
Overall, a pretty good book, just not a recommended to all.
I love this story! It shows the complexity of friendship when kids aren't into the same things. Three girls who all have different interests and abilities share a common bond over animals. The illustrations are beautiful, the girls and other characters are inclusive POC and the story is completely relatable for all ages who are into animals and graphic novels.
What a fun start to a new graphic novel series! Gabby and her friends Priya and Mindy love animals but all have a reason they can't have their own pets. After a run in with a pickle loving dog and her owner, the girls decide to start their own dog sitting business. But running a business isn't all fun all the time, even if it is one with the cutest clients. The characters are well defined and I can't wait to see more of them. What really stood out to me was the realities of each girl's circumstances and that the story didn't cover those up, that they eventually became a point of conflict in the story. The art is colorful and lively, the girls' world jumps off the page. Highly recommended for Baby-Sitters Club and other series readers!
Thank you to Netgalley and Penguin Books for the review copy of this book. PAWS by Nathan Fairbairn is a really cute book. It is reminiscent of the Babysitters Club books by Ann M. Martin, as the main character and her friends start a club business. In this book, the girls decide that walking dogs is the best way to be able to get some time to hang out with dogs since they are unable to have pets.
Throughout the graphic novel, there are many problems the girls must troubleshoot, and their parents are very supportive. The illustrations are engaging and add so much to the story. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to my students!
This was an adorable book. I really enjoyed the way that the girls were able to handle their problems and come together to figure everything out. The story was nicely fleshed out and I really enjoyed the pacing of the book. Overall, this was a great story about friendship and working together. I also really enjoyed the artwork.
Gabby and her friends Priya and Mindy LOVE dogs and animals. However, none of them can have animals for various reasons: allergies, OCD fathers, the apartment complex doesn't allow pets. So pets being them together in that way. They bonded over pictures and videos. So when Gabby comes up with the idea to walk some of the neighborhood dogs to help with their addiction - her friends are game to help! They wind up with 8 dogs on their weekly walk list. What could go wrong with walking dogs with your friends?
Read on to find out! This story was beautifully illustrated. I LOVED the super cute puppers and the girls were drawn exquisitely too. I loved the messages about work, responsibility and friendship.
Super cute graphic novel for kids. Age range: 7+
This was super cute!!! Gabby, Priya and Mindy are BFF's and they LOVE animals. None of them can own a pet for different reasons so they come up with a solution. These 3 girls team up to make their very own dog walking business and call it Paws. It starts out small, but slowly they get more clients. And with the business growing so do the problems. The girls must work together to come up with solutions with the help of their parents and most importantly each other. This graphic novel is sure to be a hit with the kids. The illustrations in this were so great. I loved the colors and the style. And the dogs were adorable!
This was such a great start to this series! I love the unique characters who are discovering themselves and their friendships along the way. The doggos are adorable and I loved how they got to know each animal's unique personalities! This will be a great readers' recommendation for lovers of animals and the fun loving adventures of the babysitters' club and similar graphic novels. I can't wait to have this in my library!
Fans of The Baby-Sitter's Club or The Baby-Sitter's Little Sister will find a new series to fall in love with! Follow Gabby, Priya, and Mindy as they combine their friendship and love of animals into a dog walking business. The girls have to balance schedules and conflicting opinions as they try to make the right decisions for their club. The illustrations are vibrant and playful. The way the story flows means the reader isn't left on a cliffhanger, but there is still room to explore future stories with the girls. Each of the three girls has a distinct personality with room for growth. I look forward to seeing what's next for them!
As an ARC, I recognize that some of the contents may still be subject to change. While the colloquialisms are fitting to modern internet use, I worry that they may not have longevity and could unintentionally date the work sooner than it should be.
