MISTLETOE IN JUNEAU by USA Today best-selling author Dahlia Rose is a fantastic and heart-warming book. Dahlia Rose is a new to me author that I had the pleasure to read and review. I will definitely be reading more of her books. The cover of this book is gorgeous, and it drew me in from the very beginning without reading the blurb.
MISTLETOE IN JUNEAU tells the heart-warming and sweet romance story Danni St. Peters and Declan Mathias. Danni is a Social Media Influencer with her travel blog, Danni on the Run, while Declan is an Alaskan State Trooper as well as an Army Vet. Danni is tired of the way that her blog is going because her boyfriend/manager is trying to make it into something different than what she had envisioned from when she first started it. When her best friend, Amy, asks her to come visit her family in Juneau, Danni is undecided at first but when her so-called-boyfriend Austin does something that she doesn’t agree with, she changes her mind and decides to go on the trip. When Danni gets to Juneau, she is in awe of the scenery and the snow. Amy sends Declan “Sarge” Mathias to pick her up. When they first meet, Declan is not as talkative as Danni is and she feels like he doesn’t like her. When Amy tells her what happened to Sarge Mathias, she is drawn to him. Declan feels that he cannot have a happily-ever-after because of what happened to him when he was in the Army. He is trying to adjust to his new life outside of being in the Army. Will Danni be able to show Declan that he can have it all with her? Will Danni start living her life instead of existing? Will the pair get their happy ending? You will have to read MISTLETOE IN JUNEAU by Dahlia Rose to find out!
What I loved about the book was its setting. I have never traveled to Alaska and the way that Dahlia Rose wrote this, I felt like I was experiencing everything that Danni did while she was visiting in Juneau. The descriptions were so vivid, they made me enjoy the book so much. The storyline was amazing, and it flowed so seamlessly. MISTLETOE IN JUNEAU has a lot of romance and it is such a heart-warming feel-good Christmas story of finding love. Overall, I enjoyed reading this book so much! I’m not a Hallmark movie kind of woman but if they decide to make this novel into a movie, I would definitely watch it because the book is an amazing read.
Mistletoe in Juneau is a book about looking for your happiness even when you didn't know you were missing it. Danni's best friend, Amy, is due any day as Christmas is approaching. Lucy convinces Danni to leave New York City and her burgeoning career as an influencer, and to stay with them in Juneau during the Christmas season. After Danni adjusts to life in Alaska and meeting the people, she realizes she really likes being in Alaska. This is a story that will warm your heart as you are trying not to imagine living through snowstorms and colder weather, but also look at the community of people that work and love together. Enjoy a cup of hot cocoa as you read this book!
A sweet and festive romance! This is the book version of a Hallmark movie-- which is fitting since it comes from Hallmark Publishing. There are multiple cute Christmas dates. The story has a small-town feel to it -- even though Juneau is the second-largest US city by area -- with plenty of lovable supporting characters. At the center is the story of Danni and Declan, two people from very different worlds who just might be perfect for each other. This is the perfect fireside read with a cup of cocoa in hand. And it made me want to visit Alaska!
This was my first novel by Dahlia Rose and I enjoyed this festive romance. I loved that the majority of the book was set in Alaska giving us a taste of Danni's adventure. She was our eyes and ears for all the new experiences and did a great job narrating all the excitement, especially the interactions with Declan, the local sheriff and medically discharged Army soldier. Their stark differences, city girl v. quiet small-town boy was stark but again proving opposites attract (or maybe they aren't as opposite as they thought).
I loved learning about the Alaskan traditions, the cultural ceremonies and traditions of the indigenous people as well as the beautiful moments Juneau had to offer. I did listen to this book and while I enjoyed it, I do believe the narrator Janina Edwards didn't do it justice. While she could handle the more serious aspects of the book, I did feel the silly or excitable portrayals seemed forced or fake. So the audiobook gets 3/5 starts while the story ranks 4/5. Definitely read over listen if you have the option.
Thank you to Netgalley, Hallmark Publishing and Dahlia Rose for an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest and fair review.
Enjoy a new holiday theme book. Mistletoe in Juneau by Dahlia Rose will get you in the holiday spirits. Happy Reading!
I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and the publisher ~ Thank you ~ !! This is my honest and personal review.
Charming Christmas book that takes place in Alaska and includes all the fun Christmas and winter activities. Nice to see disabled vet representation although I'm not Own Voices so I cant speak to how good it was. I personally wish they dove a little further into the emotional turmoil brought up such as Dani's family disapproval of her career and how Declan's ex left him after his injury. I understand thats kind of outside of the scope of Hallmark so maybe thats unfair but its just my preference. Enjoyable read in the moment but it will not stick with me. Overall, happy to see some representation in general including the addition of indigenous customs.
#superthankful to #netgalley and #Harlequin books for my #gifted copy of Mistletoe in Juneau.
5 Reasons to grab this book during the Holiday season
📚 Love the characters : Danni a fun loving social influencer and Declan retired Blackhawk Sgt grumpy State trooper..had all you want in a sunshine/ grumpy trope. NYC Brooklyn girl embraces the small town .
📚 I now have Alaska on my bucket list of must see travel destinations: the description of the town a little subdivision of Juneau couldnt be more cute ..I loved all the side characters, they were well developed, and added warmth and depth to this cozy story.
📚 The author also took her time weaving Declan's PTSD into the novel, the importance of supporting Veteran charity groups, because it is never easy for a veteran reentering the workforce especially with loss of his leg that Declan suffered.
📚 The author took her time showing the close knit community that supported the indigenous Inuit tribe , I especially loved how the characters delivered Christmas cheer and presents to further away community centers, on a Snowmobile!! I loved how Danni even got a present from the tribe elder blessing her into the community.
📚 This community even had a new ornament added for every child born into the community added to the town Christmas tree. They were handmade by the family which added extra love. The details are what added charm to this book, down to the Bakery owned by Declan's mom, to the simple life that really is everything that is important, community , family, and love.
This is a 3.5 rounded up to a four star book. I am not a fan of Insta love, but the charm outweighed the negative, i felt like the ending was rushed, I hope we get another story from this little town. I would love to go back.

This was a cute, heartwarming Christmas romance. If you are a big fan of Hallmark Christmas movies then you will love this book.
This was just the most adorable Christmas book, right up there with the best holiday movies! And you can never go wrong with an Alaskan setting. ❤
This was a sweet, heartwarming, Hallmark Christmas romance, where we have new beginnings and realization of what is important in life. Danni is a social influencer who is not sure what she wants in life moving forward. She broke up with her manager boyfriend and decides to leave New York and spend Christmas in Alaska with a dear friend. While there she meets Declan, a war veteran and local law enforcement officer. They are both hesitant about relationships, but they throw caution to the wind and just become themselves with each other. It doesn't take long to develop feelings, but Danni runs scared and back to the big city, especially when she is rewarded a big contract by a cosmetics company. Of course, romance means you need a happily ever after.
This was a sweet story that I enjoyed, but didn't love. Declan and Danni were both good characters, but their insta-love didn't pull me in. I liked the secondary characters more, especially Declan's mother. I did like the way Indigenous people from the north were represented along with their culture. Overall, an enjoyable romance with interesting characters. I recommend this one to those who enjoy a relatively quick Christmas romance with a Happily Ever After.
My favourite time of the year has to be the period between October to December when all the holiday novels come out! I love the holidays with all my heart, and the best way to enjoy it is to cuddle up with a great hallmark-esque that'll warm up my cold heart (laughs manically)
When I first read the description for this book, I knew that I'd immediately get sucked in. A holiday novel set in a small town in ALASKA (it's been on my bucket list for sooo long), with diverse, well-rounded characters (and one with a disability as well). It's definitely not your typical romance find - and I loved every bit of it.
Declan and Danni were both characters you couldn't help but fall in love with - a vet who'd survived an IED that'd cost him a leg and a fiancee, and a social media influencer from NYC who was desperate for an escape from her overbearing manager/boyfriend and the pressures of being known. While their character development felt a bit rushed, their opposites-attract relationship bought palpitations to my heart. Mistletoe in Juneau was the kind of sweet, feel-good romance that you love to read over and over again. It's a perfect-temperature hot chocolate in the form of a book! Would definitely recommend for a cute holiday read.

Cover Appeal: ⭐⭐⭐1/2
Synopsis: Danni is a gregarious social media influencer who started out vlogging with a trip on a budget to Paris and blew up to more of a life-style guru and is way out of her element. When her manager/boyfriend starts pushing her even further, her best friend’s invitation to Alaska for the holidays seems like a great way to regroup and get her priorities straight.
Declan is an Alaskan State Trooper who is an Army Vet whose past has him guarded and as isolated as the Alaskan town he lives in is. Only his closest friends know how his ex-fiancée who couldn’t deal with the injury from an IED explosion cost him more than his leg.
Can two people who come from completely different backgrounds with opposites in personalities that live thousands of miles away from each other find a connection that could heal both their hearts?
What I Loved: Most everything. I loved the whole Hallmark movie vibe!! This book has all the holiday feels with a little bit more. I think Declan has a much more developed background for a lead man than a lot of romance novels give to them. And I was so impressed with the detail to the Alaskan wilderness and history of some of its indigenous people.
What I Liked: I really liked Danni, I liked that even though she was rising fast in the profession she chose and her manager/boyfriend was making things happen for her and her family they have an entirely different definition of success, Danni trusts her gut to get away and prioritize.
What I Would Change: Honestly nothing. If you love Hallmark Christmas movies this book hits the mark and more.
Overall Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2

Mistletoe in Juneau follows Danni, an NYC-based influencer and vlogger, who decided to visit her pregnant best friend in Juneau, Alaska in the weeks leading up to Christmas. She doesn't expect to fall in love with the small town her friend calls home and a certain local sheriff. Declan is a veteran-turned-state trooper whose been burned by love before. Will he take a chance on Danni?
First, I loved the book's Alaska setting. Rose transports us to Juneau through her detailed writing and I felt like I was there celebrating Christmas alongside Danni and her friends. In Alaska, she's surrounded by such a loving and fun cast of characters, including Amy and Declan's mum. I also really liked Danni as a character - she experienced a lot of growth in this book. From feeling unsure in her career and a disappointment to her parents to following her heart back to Alaska.
The one thing I wanted more from this book is the further development of the relationship between Danni and Declan. While it was easy to see they had chemistry (although this is a closed-door romance with kissing only), I didn't really connect with the instant love scenario and the ending felt a little too rushed and unrealistic for me.
Overall though, if you want to be transported to Alaska these holidays, I recommend reading Mistletoe in Juneau.
Thank you to Hallmark Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for this honest review.
Danni is a social media influencer in New York City. She is starting to feel like she is losing control of her life. She takes some time off to visit her best friend in Alaska before Christmas. In Juneau, she meets Declan, a former soldier, and current Alaska state trooper. The two of them start to feel a connection, but what about their very different lives?
This book was so sweet. Is it the basic Hallmark movie formula? Yes. But is that formula tried and true? Yes. I really liked this whole story. I found it really interesting that it was in Alaska. I also like the fact that they didn't completely ignore the indigenous populations in Alaska. I'm enjoying the increasing diversity in Hallmark publications. I look forward to more of the Hallmark books from this season!
I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher through netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book is well written and the characters are described well. This book is set between New York and Juneau, Alaska. I adored all of the characters in the book. It has great mental health representation and military representation. It is pretty quick paced. This book is in stores for $15.99 (USD). I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. I can't wait to read more books by this author.
I always love a good Hallmark story, and this one did not disappoint! I finished it in just two days which is close to a record for me. This story of Danni and her trip to Alaska to visit her best friend and finding a whole new life there is just perfect for the holidays. Danni currently lives in New York and has her own brand on social media, but there's just something about Alaska that she can't seem to shake when she gets back after her stay visiting her friend, and his name might just be Declan.
The perfect girl meets boy story and does anything for love!
This is a heartwarming story to enjoy anytime of year. Due to Danni's manager/boyfriend Austin's constantly pressuring her to go to new events, Danni's not sure that she likes the way her career is going. Danni is taking a break to spend a month in Alaska with her best friend Amy and her family. Alaska State Trooper Sergeant Declan Mathias doesn't want to get involved with a city girl, who will be flying back to NYC in a month. Been there done that. Danni sees Alaska with fresh eyes and loves everything about it, but Declan thinks the allure of the city will pull her back. I receive a free copy of this ebook from the publisher through Netgalley. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. This is such a heartwarming story with delightful characters. I love the small town setting and how Danni finds joy in everything she encounters. I would love to have a friend like Danni. There are also so many interesting secondary characters as well - her friends Amy, Mateo, and Peter as well as Declan's mother and Cooper. Declan is a sweet and honorable man. This is definitely I will reread when I need a lift. This story touched me. I am adding this author to my TBR list.
Mistletoe in Juneau is a Christmas book is a romance, warm, easy reading set in the beautiful state of Alaska.
Danni wants a break from her life New York, and she decides to visit a friend in Alaska. As soon as she lands, she is taken in by the pure beauty of the area.
As she explores, she is very drawn to the local sheriff, Declan. He is pure outdoorsy man, and she is an all-city girl. Can anything draw these two together?
This is a romance that will make a perfect Hallmark movie. I am so glad I got to spend a few hours in Alaska with this wonderful story.
Thank you NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my personal review.
3D main characters with strengths and flaws, both in search of elusive love and belonging, and 4D scenic descriptions of Alaskan treasures combine into a Must-Read from author Dahlia Rose.
Independent visitor Danni St. Peters and loner resident, Declan Mathias, are as different as earth and sky. That creates misunderstanding and humorous moments, too. Join them on a coaster ride through fierce and stunning Juneau as the tale unravels.
I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.
When I think of literary fiction, I think of books just like this one, that gives all the feels and can satisfies just about every reader's heart. This is a perfect books to snuggle up with on any day.
