I love this author but this story was just an okay read. It was quite predictable and a little unbelievable. I felt the end was about rushed. Hopefully, the next book will be a better fit.

Trust Me by Kelly Irvin is her newest suspense novel and you won't be able to put it down! I read it all in one sitting. It follows Delaney, a young woman who finds her brother brutally murdered at the beginning of the book. Her boyfriend, Hunter, is convicted of manslaughter and goes to prison for ten years. The day that he gets out, Delaney's best friend Ellie is also brutally murdered, in the same fashion. Hunter is determined to prove his innocence, on both counts of murder, and convinces Delaney to help him search for the true killer. What follows is an action packed journey into different parts of San Antonio, including slums and visits from drug kingpins. When the detective on the case is attacked, it adds another layer to the story. Will Hunter and Delaney be able to find the killer before the killer finds them? On the surface, this is a book about a murder, but at the core, it is a book about trust. Who can we trust on this earth? And, more importantly, can we trust God when the going gets tough. Irvin does an excellent job, as always, of leading you towards the answers.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read this book. All opinions are my own.

Ten years ago, a man was found murdered, his killer convicted and sentenced to prison.
Delaney, isn't the same person she was, when she found her brother dead in his art shop. But, she also, didn't think she would have to face that same scene again, this time with her best friend, Ellie.
Hunter, is out of prison, on good behavior. He is determined to find the killer,of his best friends murder and prove his innocence. His first step, is to get Delaney, his old girlfriend, on his side. But, he also didn't expect to be a suspect in a murder scene, the very day he got out of prison.

As you read about this book you see that Delaney has lost so much, and her boyfriend was convicted of killing her brother. Now one of her best friends, a newly wed, has been brutally murdered, and her ex-boyfriend has been let out of jail, on the same day.

This read has a lot of twist and turns and the author does a great job of spinning who might be the murderer, and I was sure I knew, until I changed my mind. Yes, I didn't expect who the actual culprit was, but then I didn't expect all the manipulation that went on!

This is a love story, one that has been thwarted, and yet, a deep love of God, and perserverance.

I have read many books by Kelly Irvin, and this will not be the last!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Thomas Nelson, and was not required to give a positive review.

I think the book was okay, just a bit too predictable. I figured out the real killer way too early. I just kept reading to see how it would all play out in the end. I really had trouble getting too invested in the characters—they all seemed to be a bit shallow, maybe? There were some characters I really didn’t care for. I wonder if a police detective would share as much information in real life as this one did?

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Thomas Nelson Publishing through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Trust Me by Kelly Irvin is Christian romantic suspense.

It has a good plot that is slow-paced filled with mystery and suspense. As the description states, the story is about Delaney
Broward and Hunter Nash. She lost her brother and her best friend, he lost ten years of his life when he was wrongfully accused of
his best friend's murder. They joined forces in order to find out the real murderer. I enjoyed the thorough descriptions and
the step-by-step investigation. Even though it's romantic suspense the characters didn't instantly fall for each other after
all those years which I really appreciated because it made the story more realistic. I really liked the main characters
and their natural interactions. I was very surprised when the murderer was revealed, I didn't expect that.

I enjoyed this book a lot and I will rate it with 4 stars.

P.S. If you have issues with religious content then this book might not be for you.

Kelly Irvin's romantic suspense is my favorite of her genre. Trust Me, does not disappoint. Set in San Antonio, there are twists and turns through out the book when long-kept secrets are revealed.

Delaney lost her parents in a car accident when she was eight. Her grandparents died when she was 18. Then later her brother, Corey, was murdered in the artist co-op he ran, and her boyfriend, Hunter, was convicted of his murder. She has lost her faith in God and in most people except for a few close friends from the co-op.

Ten years after her brother's murder, her best friend and her brother's old girlfriend, Ellie, is murdered, That same day, Hunter is released from prison and is determined to prove his innocence. The same detective who worked Corey's case is working Ellie's case. Are the two crimes connected? Delaney and Hunter investigate the crimes and put themselves in danger. Can they solve the case before the police do?

This is a book you don't want to miss.

I have enjoyed Kelly Irvin's Amish fiction novels, but I must admit, her romantic suspense novels are definitely on my must read list, and as such I could not wait to check out Trust Me.

From the start this story drew me in. I enjoyed this idea of Hunter having served time for a crime he did not commit and looking for answers once he got out of prison. The idea was intriguing and the execution was done well with good bits of suspicion thrown in different directions throughout the story. Admittedly, I did figure this one out pretty early on in this story, so perhaps there was a little predictability--- at least to some degree at least--- but I still found that I enjoyed the story nonetheless.

Part of that certainly did have to do with the romance between Hunter and Delaney--- talk about love overcoming obstacles! I enjoyed the story of forgiveness in this book, and the strong messages of faith weaved throughout as well.

Overall, this was an enjoyable read and one that fans of Christian suspense are sure to enjoy.

I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Delaney suffers the death of her beloved brother and is devastated by both the loss and the person who was convicted of the slaying. After another murder, loose ends are discovered connecting the two murders.

Synopsis:
Ten years ago, Delaney's boyfriend Hunter was convicted for her brother's murder. Now, he's out of prison, claiming he's innocent. But on the same day, Delaney's best friend is killed, in the same way her brother was. And now, Delaney and Hunter have to find the real killer before it's too late.

My thoughts:
Now, I don't want to write bad reviews since I know that an author always puts their heart and soul into a book. But I also want to stay honest, so that's what I'm going to do. First, I have to say that Trust Me isn't a bad book at all, it just wasn't my kind of story. The plot reminded me so much of The Evidence Against You by Gillian McAllister, which is my favorite book, but it wasn't like this at all. It starts promising with the second murder, and I was hooked. But for me, this book just had too many lengths, was WAY too wordy, and there was just toooo much talk about God. Also, I don't enjoy books about clan criminality, so that's on me. If this book sounds up your alley, please do read it, you might still love it.

An engaging and page turning romantic suspense. While I did guess correctly relatively early on the whodunit, that did not diminish my interest in reaching the conclusion and explanation. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley.

I have read nearly all of the Amish genre books by Kelly Irvin and loved them.

I thought I would give this book, which is a suspenseful romance, a try. Unfortunately, I had a hard time getting into the book, as I am not a big fan of murder, suspense books. I am sure that anyone who enjoys these types of books would enjoy this one.

Set in San Antonio, Trust Me is an exciting romantic thriller from storyteller extraordinaire Kelly Irvin! This story kept me riveted through its entirety. Although I guessed who the culprit was early on, that did not spoil the enjoyment or suspense of the read. Well-crafted characters, a multilayered plot, an apropos setting, an endearing second chance romance, and a stirring faith element combine to create an unputdownable, satisfying read.

This was a well written, fun, and fast paced book, which I was able to fly through quite quickly! Some might find it to be a bit preachy or judgmental on certain topics, but I thought it was just part of development within the story! It was written in a fantastic way, which really connected me to the pages! Would highly recommend to my fellow thrill seekers!

I was excited to read a thriller centered around an artistic community, with a woman's ex-boyfriend suspected of murder. Yes! My jam! However, several things put me on my guard right away.

1. The judgmental attitude about weed and alcohol. It's totally fine if someone isn't into drugs and alcohol, so I thought I was just reading into things. Maybe Delaney's problem really was her brother's reliance on substances, and not the substances themselves.

2. The text peppered with "blessed" and mentions of God. I initially thought this was a quirk of only certain characters, but then it kept popping up more frequently. Randomly employing the phrase "Thank God" is different than literally thanking God and asking him for things. (Also, I personally only capitalize "God" when referring to the biblical god, and I don't capitalize his pronouns.)

3. Phrases like "a woman's soft touch." No. Hate this needlessly gendered nonsense.

4. The subtle shaming of a working mother. It's stated that a man and his ex got divorced because she wouldn't give up her demanding career to focus on being a mother (why couldn't the husband give up his?). The children complain that she's never around (she doesn't have primary custody) and their father doesn't correct them. Also! The father is never chastised for not being a touchy-feely dad who doesn't read bedtime stories and apparently can't function as a father during a tragedy, relying on his wife's friends to step up (sure, his wife got murdered, but plenty of people wouldn't have a big support system and could still parents their own kids). Everything is blamed on the mom.

5. The cloying praise of motherhood. Motherhood is great, but the way it's talked about sometimes makes me want to hurl.

6. The subtle racism of "It only made her warm Polynesian features more beautiful." Okay but what does she look like tho. Also I thought this character was Filipino?

Anyway, it didn't take long for me to realize that this is actually Christian fiction! I wouldn't have requested it had I realized that, but I was too excited about the prospect of a romantic thriller to see the "Christian" label on NetGalley, and I didn't recognize the publisher. My bad. Every time something vaguely Christian popped up in the text, it jarred me from the story, because that kind of thing is super off-putting to me unless there's some kind of social or religious commentary to go along with it. I'm sure plenty of people who don't mind that will enjoy this.

My goodness! This book had me turning the pages as fast as I could to see what would happen next. This is definitely a must read if you enjoy a suspenseful novel. The characters of Hunter and Delaney were just awesome as well as Pastor James.

Trust Me is a wonderful modern day story that takes you in at the very beginning and holds you captive until the end. Poor Delaney finds her brother murdered at his apartment. Who did this and why? All evidence points to his best friend, her boyfriend, Hunter.Fast forward ten years, Hunter gets out of prison for the murder. He knows he didn't kill him, but convincing anybody of his innocence is near impossible. And the same day he gets out, their friend Ellie is murdered much the same way. Are the murders connected somehow? After all, Corey, the brother, and Ellie were seeing each other. There are times when the story gets very intense, and a surprising twist near the end. Great story!

Here's a highly enjoyable read by new-to-me author Kelly Irvin. The suspense is complex inside the action-packed storyline. Well-rounded characters with flaws and virtues are relatable. Irvin successfully combines wisdom with suspense that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Her books will be on my Must Read list in the future.

I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.

This book was okay. It was predictable from start to finish. Without giving any spoilers away, woman loves man, man loves woman, man accused of murder, man serves time for crime he claims he didn’t commit, man asks woman to help him. I think you know how this ends…
