This is one of the board books/picture books more in line with my beliefs and I would enjoy reading it to young readers without it leading to a discussion on beliefs or worry that my siblings would pick up on things we personally don't agree with.
The Christmas Quest is a cute story of the wise men looking for Jesus. The author uses catching rhyming verse and eye-catching illustrations to tell the tale of their journey to find the new King. This is one both parents and children will enjoy, especially as Christmas approaches.

A beautiful well written book called The Christmas Quest for readers aged 2-6 to learn alongside the three wise men on their journey following a map of where they can approximately find the new born king. As they journey they come across many things from bandits, desert beasts and bugs to people not knowing where they can find Jesus until they realise follow the star. Quick and fast paced book which teaches children a Bible story of the the wise men who are searching Jesus Christ the King of the Jews. The story has been retold so our young children can read and understand about Christmas and the quest of the wise men. Certainly a book for the young and old to read together before Christmas.

I absolutely loved The Christmas Quest by Janet Surette! In this beautifully illustrated and written story, we learn from The Wise Men’s perspective, the Christmas Story. This would be a great book to add to your family’s library and to read at Christmas time. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. (My review is also on Goodreads.)
This was a cute kids book adaptation of the three wise men meeting baby Jesus. I think this is a great little starter book with adorable and crisp illustrations.
This is a very short rhyming Christmas story about the Wise Men traveling to Bethlehem and looking for Jesus. The illustrations are colorful, bright and engaging. I appreciated that the people depicted appear to all be of Middle Eastern descent. I also REALLY appreciated that the story sticks close to Scripture, with the Wise men arriving around the time that Jesus was a toddler, NOT actually the night of the birth. Accuracy in Bible stories is a huge deal for me and the author & illustrator did a great job with this book.
This book would be a wonderful gift or addition to your home or church library. It is perfect for ages 3-8.

Oh! I love the different angle of this book. A great, new perspective of the Christmas story, written at a level kids can understand. The illustrations are fun too!!
In rhyming text this book simply imagines what the journey of the wise men to find the King would have been like from their point of view.
This is quick and simple, but still does a good job of portraying what the journey would likely have been like for the wise men. It helps convey the length of their journey and ponders why they would do such a thing. The illustrations do a good job of portraying the historic time period and cultures. The wise men often just get thrown in the Christmas story wherever and this does a good job of remaining accurate to the biblical details and also pointing out things that are often glossed over in their appearance. Recommended for Christian families and schools looking for more Christmas books.
I received an ARC of this title from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star at its rising and here we come to worship. Matthew 2:2
Colorful book for children on the 3 wise men who came to see baby Jesus. It brings anticipation and the good news of Jesus. It also touches on King Herod hatred for Jesus and why. That is just as important. Highly recommend.
A special thank you to B&H Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
I felt this one could have been done better: it had nice pictures, but the story just didn’t roll that well, and my child didn’t love it.
The story of the wise men looking for and finding Jesus, told in bright jewel-coloured illustrations with characters spotting adorable and expressive googly eyes.
This is the first time I’ve seen the depiction of the wise men visitation not in a stable setting and with Jesus not as a baby. A google search found that this is might be more accurate.
Whatever the case, young children can be told that we all need to seek and find, and worship the King of Kings.
I’ve always like children’s books with rhyme and was not disappointed with this one. It’d be perfect to read with young children around Christmas.
Overall, this is a sweet children's book. I loved the illustrations and the timing of Christ's age when they visited being accurate. I did think the pacing of the story was a bit off and some important details were left out while extra time was spent on parts that did not need it. Additionally, the wording was a bit unnatural at some parts. My kids still enjoyed it though!
Thanks to Netgalley and B&H Kids for a free digital copy.
The Christmas story through the eyes of the wise men. It's vibrant and fun and a great companion to the other nativity book you cherish during Advent.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a free e-arc to review.
Ok, the good: I LOVE the illustrations in this book. THANK YOU for making the characters representative of where they are, and not white!! I also will always root for a story with a Christian perspective.
The not-so-good: The cadence of this story is a little off for me. It felt weird to say it out loud, and I really had to focus on finding a rhythm. I'm also a little confused by some of the story - it seems like a bit was added just to make the book longer. If you aren't familiar with the Biblical story of Christmas, you'll be 100% lost.
