Of Earth and Air is a YA fantasy/paranormal and third installment in the Heir of Blood and Fire series. Picking up where Of Fire and Water left off, it was nerve wrecking and action packed adventure right from the page one. I finished this book in one sitting, i jus couldn't put it down. I was so engrossed in this world, characters, storyline and everything surprised me in the best way!!!

Of Earth and Air is a spectacular deep dive into the very heart of this series. This is the refining fire that must be endured in order to prepare, refine, and perfect the hearts of those heading into battle. What is hidden will be made known, and what is known will never be able to hide. The lines are being clearly drawn, and nothing can unwrite them. The only thing that can change is the gathering of love, courage, loyalty, and hope. For without these things, life is a barren wasteland void of what makes life worth living.

Calla move ever forward in her quest for peace and safety. However, this quest will prove to be more treacherous and deadly then even she can imagine. Thankfully, she has people can rely on. A small circle of friends and family that are loyal to her no matter what happens. Without them, she would be lost and hopeless wandering in the wild desperate to prepare herself for battle. When hate and jealousy shatter her world, she must learn to not to lose hope. Pushing ever forward, she must preserve her heart and learn to put one foot in front of the other. What she doesn't quiet realize is that she has a bigger part to play then even she comprehends. When we let evil endure, we allow oppression and hate to rule. When this journey comes to its end, will there be something to celebrate, or will there only be the beginning of an endless time of sadness?

What can I say about Calla and Tristan that I haven't already? Together they are a force, and apart they are incredible. The push and pull between them took my heart to the very breaking point. What I loved most was how their friends rallied around them no matter what was going on. They came out of love and hope for the future, and their patience and loyalty was a blessed sight to behold. We need each other in order to make it through this life. We cannot go it alone and live a full and rich life. We were made for community, but there are times when we need space to find peace and locate our center of life.

Cameo Renae is a true genius in the young adult world. She is beyond a doubt the gold standard, and I find myself coming back to her rich and vibrant worlds. I have never been disappointed in her stories, and I know I never will for she writes and creates with her beautifully, stunning heart. This latest series of hers is a huge blessing and an extraordinary adventure that I am enjoying immensely! Give her books a chance. I guarantee that you will love them just as much as I do.

This is the third book in the Heir of Blood and Fire series, and it picks up right where it left off in the second book. It’s such an immersive read that pulls you in right from the beginning. Two men in Calla’s life are captured by Roehl, and Calla is desperate to save them. She’s also learning to use her powers, and dealing with some unexpected twists and turns. Calla and the others are also preparing for what is bound to be an epic battle between good and evil, all while other obstacles are continually thrown their way.

Calla goes through so much in this story, and she rarely has a moment to even process what has happened to her. This book shows a lot of Calla’s emotional journey, and there is a ton of angst, especially considering her most important relationships are threatened. She is fiercely determined and so committed to defeating Roehl. However, her journey is dark and dangerous, and she can never let her guard down. Her character arc is developed well, and she has come a long way from her initial introverted and reserved self.

Confident and brave, Calla works hard to master her abilities, which will aid her in defeating Roehl. I loved these scenes! Her powers are so unique, and she gets help from several friends to learn everything she can. I also love how Calla’s friends, new and old, support her throughout the story. They stand by her during some really difficult moments, and I think their unwavering support helps Calla deal with everything that’s happening. Her friends have a way of knowing when Calla needs a distraction, when she needs to wallow, and when she needs to fight. Yet, among the horrific loss and grief (and crying – there’s a lot of crying), Calla also experiences hope and friendship.

Of course, my favorite part of the story (and most stories) is the romance. The chemistry between Calla and Trystan is everything! Their relationship is really put to the test in this book, and Calla’s helplessness and desperation are at the forefront of the story. I don’t want to give too much away about this part of the story, but the author really shows how deeply Trystan and Calla feel for each other. Despite all of the challenges they face, they continue to fight for each other. I loved this couple from the beginning, and I am so hoping that they have a happy ending. (If not, there are others who will gladly take Trystan’s place).

Overall, this is an engrossing addition to the series, and I’m eagerly anticipating the fourth book! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Calla, Trystan, and the others as their stories continue. Thanks so much to Cameo Renae and Next Step PR for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.
