LOVED THIS BOOK.
Holy hell, the sex is hot! It comes early, it comes fast and it comes HARD. Pun intended. It's interesting that some reviewers looked at this as a negative but the fact that Chloe and Bennett have sex almost at the beginning of this book is very much a part of the narrative. They then work backwards and develop their relationship and emotional connection from there. I couldn't put this book down. I might be one of the three people in the world who did not read The Office but apparently there are some major differences between the original Twilight fanfic and Beautiful Bastard.
I loved how Bennett and Chloe were loved and respected by everyone else but they could not seem tone be civil towards at each other. Also loved the back and forth POV's between the two characters.
This book is not for everyone but it is a treat worth reading. I can't wait for more of Bennett and Chloe!

We’ve all got a TBR pile that’s festering away dying to be read. Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren has been sitting on mine at least 7-8 years. You know, right around the FSoG phase started. I realize that because that is probably one of the reasons I picked up the book. Someone told me it was hot and I needed to read it. So I one-clicked it…and forgot all about it…until now.
Oh boy. Maybe if I had read BB back when I was into reading smut books, I would have enjoyed it more. But now…ummm. I’m way pass the point of being shocked anymore and now I want my smut to have a real juicy, understandable plot with likeable characters and good dialog. Can’t help but feel that the plot was Chloe and Bennett are office hump bunnies, he has a fetish of ripping off her expensive panties and keeping them, and her thing is biotching and hating him. Honestly that is what I felt for most of the book. The very first chapter alone I kept thinking is this a dream? Are we reading a dream sequence? Nope, that was what was really happening. Oh. And It just kept continuing on from there. Me just repeating ‘Oh!’ And not in a good way. O.o
Again, maybe had I read this book ages ago when I first started embracing smutty books, I would have appreciated it more. But now, meh. Seen it. Read it. Moving on.
Stars: 2.5
I received this book from Netgalley. I was not compensated for the book other than the entertainment it provided. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I really wanted to love this book as so many of my friends loved it. Sadly it just didn't work for me at all, and I ended up DNFing this book.
I really liked this writing voice, although I also have to admit this is very much not my kind of thing. I didn't think either character was likable, but I'm not sure who else would put up with them. I totally get why it was a popular fic, though, and I'm intrigued enough to go to the next couple, which has a dynamic I think I'll like more.
I didn't get a chance to properly review this book but I folded it into coverage of relevant geek culture, discussions of fanfiction turned romance novels, Twilight's cultural role, and fanfic publishing.
I am so honored to have been contacted by the publisher to read this series! I haven’t had the opportunity and when some time freed up between tours, I dove right in and am so glad that I did. I read all SIX books back to back in SIX days! I couldn’t put them down nor did I want to. I already read this book back in the days when it was still available online and I loved it since then.
So this was more of a re-read for me, though the published version is obviously an upgrade and was even better!
This book is definitely on my favourites list!
Beautiful Bastard is the first book that I have read by Christina Lauren and I was very much surprised by what I read. I didn’t read the blurb so I truly had no idea what to expect. The name of the book alone had me intrigued. It’s the very, very erotic story of successful advertising executive Bennett Ryan and his intern Chloe Mills. For several months, they have had a fiery relationship that bordered on confrontational. As a boss, Bennett is blunt, brutal, and cold. He is also overly attractive which is why Chloe and the other ladies at the office call him a Beautiful Bastard. To make matters worse, Bennett and Chloe have been using their snarkiness towards each other to mask their attraction. At some point, Bennett just can’t take it anymore and that’s when everything heats up.
Once they both give in to their desires, they can’t control themselves. Bennett and Chloe literally have sex everywhere by the time this book is over. They have the most intense love/hate relationship that I have ever seen. They are mean, petty, and inseparable all at the same time. They try desperately to stop having sex with each other and they just can’t do it. The fact that they work together makes it that much more of challenge. It was painful to watch them try to hide their attraction from everyone else while they were thinking of their last time between the sheets or up against the window or the parking lot. I could go on. Note that even with all of the sex, there was actually some substance to their relationship that I found refreshing. They weren’t sure what they had but they were committed to figuring it out.
I truly didn’t know where this would go but the ride was thrilling. If the author’s other books can portray such intensity and heat, I would totally read another one. If you can handle scorchingly hot scenes, then this is the book for you. Just be sure to read it while sitting in a cold bath because you just may catch a fire.
Wow. I definitely flew through this book and couldn't put it down. So excited for the next book. Wow.
I read this book back when it was a fanfiction and I couldn't get enough of this story as a book. Loved the changes the author made and it made me love it even more! Can't wait to read more from Christina Lauren!
sorry for the formatting issues, changes made to the blog still getting old posts sorted out properly
I have had this book on my list to read for a while. Overall it was a pretty good book. It did keep my interest. I know many loved this story and I have heard it will be a movie or tv show. Looking forward to see what they come up with if they are in fact going to be.
