A big thank-you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for giving me a copy of this book for an unbiased review.

3/5 - Liked it.

This was a very interesting book with several unique concepts regarding the development of humanity. Key among these was the foundation of mythologies that structure our societies and help (or, in many cases, detract from) sapiens' ability to move forward and create better societies.

I enjoyed the book, which broke complex theories down into manageable sections and used playful illustrations to discuss some heavy and difficult topics. However, I think I would prefer a written book for this kind of content, because I did not feel that any of the topics were explored deeply enough or explained where the ideas supporting the arguments originated. This book has motivated me to read the Sapiens book, which I think will satisfy my curiosity better.

Overall, this is a quick, easily digestible read and definitely worth the time it takes to read the book.

Had a tough time getting into this - not sure if it's because I didn't read Volume 1 first, or if it's due to the way it's told (as a group of people traveling through history and talking about it, rather than history actually happening)? Just not my cup of tea.

Harari knocked this one out of the park just like in the first volume. I learned so much and gained a new perspective on human history. I love the intermittent comics of bill and Cindy. Their stories are sarcastic and saccharine in the best way possible while also informing readers of how many human decisions throughout history have sent us on a path towards total destruction. I love these graphic histories so much and recommend them to absolutely everyone. ESPECIALLY those who want to read Harari’s book but find it daunting (like me).

Sapiens: A Graphic History Volume 2 is such a new and creative way to reimagine the very popular Sapiens novel. The illustrations are well done, and the new format may be more accessible for more audiences. I like this format as a way to engage younger learners in anthropology and history. I would recommend this to anyone!

I have the first volume of this graphic history and it is fantastic. Volume 2 is equally fantastic. I love graphic depictions of classic literature and history. In this case, the author goes through an overview of the history of mankind. Obviously this is not going to explore topics in depth but for what its purpose is, i think that it does a great job. I really appreciate the artistic viewpoint of the story of humankind.
Highly recommend and the 2 volume collection would make a wonderful Christmas gift for any history lover.

So much information packed into graphic novel format. Would recommend going through this slowly to absorb everything. As with the first, makes me want to read/listen to the original text.
