Love the "Click" series so was excited about this book! Beth and Chanda's friendship is adorable and I loved the shenanigans they got up to (the dogsitting incident was my favourite). Have recommended this book quite a bit.

My students are hooked on all of Kayla Miller's series, so I knew I had to read this in advance before buying it for my classroom library. This was a great graphic novel about friendship and the responsibilities of growing older. Beth and Chandra (characters from the Click series) have high hopes of earning money so Chandra can get a dog and Beth can treat her mom to a great birthday present. The story follows their struggles and mishaps as they try various jobs earning money. They definitely learn responsibility (the hard way) after landing what seemed like the perfect dog-sitting job.

Definitely will be adding to my classroom library!

I was hooked on Kayla Miller's "Click" since reading the first book, so I knew I had to book one in "World of Click" series. In "Besties: Work It Out," best friends Beth and Chandra want to earn some money so that Beth can treat her mom to something nice for her birthday and Chandra wants to get a job to prove to her parents that she's responsible enough to get a cat. at first they try a lemonade stand, but that doesn't work out so well. Then, the perfect opportunity knocks on their door when Ms. Lanford hires the girls to walk her dog, water the plants, and take care of the house. This job pays well and will help prove to their parents that they are both responsible. But, they end up breaking a lamp in the house. What will Beth and Chandra do to prove they are responsible and fix the situation before Ms. Langford arrives home?

I loved this graphic novel because it explores the themes of friendship and responsibility. Although I'm an adult, thinking back to my teenage years, I felt this story to be extremely relatable. There are life lessons to be learned in this book and I think it sends positive takeaways to its readers.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. Excellent graphic novel about growing older and friendships in school.

Thank you to NetGalley for the chance to read Besties: Work It Out by Kayla Miller and Jeffery Canino.
This was a cute little comic that would be ideal for young teens. I did enjoy it, but certainly felt too old for the content.
Enjoyable artwork, and I loved the story of cat adoption.

Besties: Work It Out is a sweet, realistic graphic novel about friendship, starting a business, animals, and family relationships. Filled with the perfect balance of school drama, this graphic novel provides a look at the effects of peer pressure, the effort needed to correct a mistake, and the importance of loving older siblings. I would totally recommend it!

Such a cute story about responsibility and friendship. I would have loved this story growing up. I love that we are getting more stories from the Click universe, and focusing on other characters allows for more avenues of plot.

Besties: Work it Out is a great story with an amazing meaning. The art style is perfect for the mood of the story and makes it very easy to continue reading. The plot being easy to follow and the characters being very relatable and realistic makes the story great for kids. This graphic novel does a good job at showing a realistic imperfect friendship to kids and how to healthy deal with problems and arguments. The main grade levels I would recommend this graphic novel to is 2nd to 5th grade.

I thoroughly enjoyed Click and Act by Kayla Miller, so I was already prepared to like Besties: Work it Out. I am so pleased not to be disappointed. Besties deals with real-life middle school issues, such as the desire to be admired and liked by one’s peers, and shows the conflict that occurs in even the best of relationships. It’s a story that almost everyone can relate to, and it is skillfully told though vibrant and engaging illustrations and well crafted dialogue. This is a book that I think many middle schooler (as well as anyone else) will enjoy.

This book will be high interest for any library with graphic novel readers. While the social media aspect was important, the story wasn't anything new. The main characters seemed strong, but the sister was inconsistent. Overall, one I will recommend to graphic novel readers.

A fantastic and heartwarming story about responsibility and friendship! I really enjoyed the friendship between the two main characters and it felt honest. You definitely knew they were in the wrong but the writing never made them out to be angels, they worked it out on their own in a realistic and honest way. Great messages for kids too.

I never read the other books but I will now after reading this. :)

Shortly after reading Clash, I found that another book In the World of Click was coming to print. Thank you to NetGalley and Etch-Clarion for a pre-release, advanced reader e-copy of Besties: Work It Out, due to come out October 19, 2021! This story focuses on Beth and Chanda, who we’ve met in previous books by Kayla Miller.

And let me tell you, reading it while house- and dog-sitting for a cool, newly retired woman with many fragile souvenirs of her travels displayed around her house was a TRIP. Especially as, yes, I’d taken photographs of some of those beautiful objects, though I have so far restrained from putting them on Instagram.

This story brushes so many important topics! Beth’s family is struggling financially, and Beth wants to earn enough money to treat her hard-working mother to a spa day. Chanda feels overshadowed by her elder sister, away at college, but frequently in her parents’ conversations. Chanda wants to help Beth earn the money and to prove to her parents that she is responsible enough to adopt a pet—an older cat who has spent months in the shelter.

With the help of Beth’s older sister, the two land a job as dog- and house-sitters. They are blown away by their luck and enjoy the time that they spend in the house. They post photos of themselves in the house on social media, and in an attempt to be admitted into the cool clique, Chanda lies about their relation to Ms. Langford. Chanda convinces Beth to invite a classmate to the house.

While they are visiting, a lamp accidentally breaks. Unable to fix it, Beth and Chanda look to replace it, but the replacement is more than $200.

The two begin another business to try to earn the money for the replacement lamp, hoping to avoid trouble with Ms. Langford and not wholly ruin Chanda’s chances to be seen as responsible at last. The two begin to fight over responsibility and asking for and accepting help. Beth won’t let her sister sacrifice to help them fix their mistakes. She calls Chanda selfish. Hurt, Chanda lashes out.

The girls struggle with their individual goals, with those goals conflicting with each other’s. Ultimately, their friendship survives the strains, they choose honesty, and they help each other toward their goals, because besties do work it out.

A super sweet story from the awesome duo that brought us the Click series. Set in the same world, with some cameos of familiar faces, this book is all about friendship and proving your maturity.

This is from the same universe as Click but focused on two other girls. These girls want to form a business. They try selling lemonade but that isn’t very successful. It goes through the ups and downs of coming up with a job they can both do, working through it and fixing problems as they arise.

I love the Click stories, so I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about a story set in the Click world, but not about the main character. I should not have worried. This is a great story on its own. And both Olive, who has been the main character in the Click books, makes an appearance as does Nat (Natasha) who is just as annoying as she was in Clash, the fourth book in the series..

Beth and Chanda want to earn money so that Beth can give her mom a really good gift for her birthday, a day at the spa. They start off with a lemonade stand, which doesn't go well.

And then they land a job house sitting, which I have to admit, I did at their age, as well, and it does pay well, and takes a lot of responsibility, too.

It is that responsibility that drives this story, that, and wanting to be popular, which is both a side note, and a heavy note, on part of the story. I was worried that things were going to turn out worse than they did, and I hesitated finishing the story, but then, things showed just how mature the girls really turned out to be, and I was very pleased with how the authors worked things out..

You don't have to have read any of the Click books to read this one, though they are fun books to read anyway. And this appears to be the first in many more stories of Beth and Chanda.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

I greatly enjoy the way Kayla Miller writes and illustrates authentic middle school characters. She really captures the emotional growth that happens during the middle school years. Beth and Chanda are trying to earn money for separate goals. Beth wants to give her mom a spa day for her birthday, and Chanda wants to prove to her parents that she is responsible enough to adopt a cat. They are offered what seems like the perfect job to earn enough money to achieve their goals, but things don't go as planned. After an accident leads to a broken lamp, the girls scramble to come up with the funds to purchase a replacement, putting a strain on their friendship. The experience teaches them a lot about friendship, and what being a responsible teenager is all about. I look forward to future "Besties" books!

Besties: Work It Out follows Beth and Chandra, who are friends of Olive from the popular Click series. The two of them have high hopes of earning money so Chandra can get a dog and Beth can treat her mom to a great birthday present. When a dog sitting job goes wrong, the two of them take a series of odd jobs to earn money for a lamp they broke. The two learn to work together and how to be better friends.

While I love the Click series, this was a little too sitcom like and formulaic. It was very over the top, and the while the two characters were fun, they didn't face consequences that they should have. A lot of the story seemed exaggerated and silly. I think this will resonate for some middle grade graphic novel fans, but I am going to stick more to the original Click series.

Good realistic fiction graphic novel continuing the story of Beth and Chanda. This time they want to show that they are mature and responsible and end up being so after a mistake while dogsitting. Cute book that the kids will love in my school!
