Another You've Got Mail storyline that I couldn't help but fall in love with

Mr. Wrong Number follows Olivia, a hot mess who moves in with his brother and his best friend after she accidentally burns down her apartment building because she was burning love letters from her cheating ex. Oh, and she also lost her job that same day. Colin has always found his best friend's little sister annoying but now that she's living with them, he might start to see her in a different light. When a wrong number text brings the two together, they may realize that something wrong could turn into something right.

This laugh out loud romcom is full of good times and a lot of heart. I'll admit, I was hesitant about Olivia at first but I grew to love her and her live life to the fullest antics.

I also enjoyed that Colin actually didn't like Olivia before and we were able to see him slowly change his mind from uncomfortable indifference to head over heels in love.

The wrong number portion of this book wasn't actually the entire plot, which I appreciated. I like that it was used as a starting off point but wasn't the main focus of the book, which allowed for it to delve deeper in Olivia's and Colin's relationship.

I absolutely adore the trope where they’re sending anonymous texts/letters to someone they hate, so I loved that about this book. I’m also a sucker for the brother’s best friend trope, which was also the case here. I really liked Colin and Olivia’s relationship from the start, their banter was amazing. This was such a cute book, and the miscommunication trope was the only downfall for me. I’m not a fan of the miscommunication trope, but if it’s done really well I do enjoy it. However, I wasn’t a fan of it here. It seemed to drag on a little too long for my taste and the resolution of it all seemed very rushed. But aside from that I loved this book and would definitely recommend it!

I didn't love this one, unfortunately. I tried so many times to get into, but it just seemed too silly and unreasonable to me. Probably a me thing, as I know people loved this book.

“Mr. Wrong Number” is about Olivia Marshall and Colin Beck, who have always been around as her brother's best friend. When Olivia loses all her belongings and finds herself living with her brother and Colin she starts texting with an anonymous guy and soon her bantering with Colin leads to something more, but what they didn't expect is that they've been texting each other the whole time, and this will complicate everything.

“Mr. Wrong Number” is the definition of a rom-com. It was like “You’ve Got Mail” (which is one of my ALL TIME favorite rom-com movies) for the millennial age. Every aspect that you expect from one is there, from fun, banter, and awkward occurrences all the way to sweet, romantic, and steam filled scenes. I read and devoured Painter’s YA novel “Better Than the Movies”, I was very excited for “Mr. Wrong Number”. I binged this in one sitting and didn't even realize how much time had passed. I really loved how real and relatable the characters were, Olivia’s inner monologue was so fun to read! I loved that Colin understood what made Olivia who she is, she lived in the moment and embraced all that goes with it. Colin knew what he wanted in life and I think that connected well with Olivia's go with the flow attitude. I was instantly sucked into the text conversations with Mr. Wrong Number! One of the best things about this book is Liv and Colin’s banter. They both give as good as they get; it’s witty and so entertaining. Painter writes the best banter between characters. The text exchanges were my favorite part and wish they'd gone on a little longer but I was super happy to get POVs from both Olivia and Colin. I always enjoy rom-coms that give you dual perspectives of the MCs. Lynn Painter excels at writing witty, rhythmic banter and dynamic characters with crackling chemistry that just leaps off the page. I enjoyed all the clever pop culture references sprinkled throughout the book. If you're looking for a fun, fast-read, laugh-out-loud, romantic comedy, I recommend this book. I can’t wait to read more from Lynn Painter! Many thanks to Netgalley, Lynn Painter and Berkeley Publishing for this e-arc.

After loving Lynn Painter's Teen RomCom Better That The Movies a couple of months ago, I eagerly requested to review Mr. Wrong Number. Painter excels at funny banter and with this new contemporary RomCom, she delivers a funny and fresh romance.

Set around the opposites attract and enemies to lovers tropes (with some forced proximity for good measure), the story follows Olivia, a woman who finds herself living on her brother's couch after almost burning down her apartment building. Her brother's roommate Colin (rich, handsome and a strait-laced kind of guy with a Mr. Darcy vibe) isn't thrilled with the situation, nor how chaos always seems to find Olivia at every turn.

One solace for Olivia is Mr. Wrong Number, whose random text begins an online flirtation with this mysterious stranger who refers to Olivia as Miss Misdial. It's all fun and games and sexual tension until Colin finds out Olivia is Miss Misdial. There's great banter, some miscommunication and fade to black love scenes (which may feel a bit tame for readers who expect super spicy scenes).

Funny, flirty and some emotional dysfunctional family moments too, Mr. Wrong Number is a perfect pick for RomCom lovers who want great banter, a couple they can root for and some sweet with a tease of heat scenes. Look for it in stores March 1, 2022!

I loved this author's YA debut so I was super excited to read her adult debut as well. Unfortunately, this one fell a little flat for me. I enjoyed the story overall but it had some places where it was lacking.
I appreciated the concept of this book as the "meet-cute" was original and different than any that I've read before. I also really liked that this book was dual POV because I love getting to see the thoughts and feelings of the characters on both sides of the relationship.
I guess I ultimately didn't see too much chemistry between Olivia and Colin. Their attraction felt very surface level as they kind of just talked about how hot one another was. I wish their relationship had involved a deeper connection. The resolution at the end was also super quick and the reader didn't get to see Olivia and Colin address the fact that she thought he was stuck up for so much of her life.
I liked that it was fun and steamy I just wish there had been a little more depth to the story. It's definitely a great read if you're looking for a fast and easy romance.

It starts off slow and kind of dense, but once the action begins, it's hard to resist the story as it drives forward. It reads as a true epic, one that makes you feel the world really has been reshaped as you read it. Would recommend.

I remember reading a unfinished story on FictionPress a decade or more ago about two people falling in love over a misdial. These characters would talk to each other on the phone without knowing that their lives were more connected that they thought. This book felt very similar to this story that I loved so much. However, what really made me like this book was the utter hilarity and chaos that transpired over the course of our heroes falling in love with each other. Olivia was fun and different from a lot of main characters that I’ve read in this genre. She’s unapologetically herself and didn’t change herself to fit into the mold of what a MC from a romance should be like. She was sharp mouthed and lived her life to the fullest despite what was thrown at her. Colin was a sweetheart and I loved how he grew to love and appreciate Olivia, flaws and all. There wasn’t much that I didn’t enjoy. One qualm that I had is that I wish the epilogue was more fleshed out, it didn’t add much more to the story or provide a satisfying insight as to where the couple ends up. Furthermore, I do wish we got to see more of Olivia and Colin’s relationship instead of having chapters do mini time skips. All in all, this was quite enjoyable and I look forward to the author’s next novel.

“What are you wearing?” The ultimate booty call/text. Only in Olivia’s case she doesn’t know who’s asking. Rather than ignore it, Olivia sends back a reply for the ages and thus begins a hilarious and hot conversation with an anonymous stranger…who isn’t such a stranger. Colin Beck didn’t mean to text his best friend’s sister a booty call and he wouldn’t have kept it up if he’d known who he was texting but it’s hard to separate the sexy Ms. Misdial from the klutzy woman sleeping on an air mattress in the apartment he shares with her brother. Painter’s latest is genuinely hilarious and heartfelt. There’s steam, there’s comedy, there’s some very dramatic reveals that all make for a fun read. A little zany and over the top in some regards but a solid purchase for most collections. For fans of Christina Lauren and Ali Hazelwood. ARC provided by NetGalley.

I absolutely loved this book! It was the perfect mix of romance and comedy and the exact right fit for me during another peak of this pandemic. This lighthearted story, follows Colin and Olivia, who’ve known each other for years (known, not liked) and accidentally text each other.

The text conversation continues and they both quickly fall for this “stranger” behind their texting friendship. As the truth starts to come out, their relationships takes all sorts of turns neither of them ever expected. Predictable? Yes. Enjoyable? Absolutely. I loved and definitely recommend this warm hearted read!

I had been completely charmed by Lynn Painter’s last novel, Better Than the Movies, and it was one of my Top 15 reads of the year. So when I received an eARC of her newest book I was SO excited to dive in. While I enjoyed this one, it didn’t quite have the same magic as BTTM for me.

Mr. Wrong Number is about Olivia who is perpetually unlucky. After her last boyfriend dumped her and she accidentally burned her apartment building down, she finds herself living on an air mattress in her brother’s apartment. She soon discovers he also lives with a roommate, his best friend from high school, Colin.

Liv and Colin have never gotten along particularly well, so living with him just adds salt to her wounds. She ends up getting a wrong number text one night and before she knows it she’s started a flirty text relationship with the person she calls Mr. Wrong Number. Knowing they’ll never meet she opens up to him

While this is going on, she finds herself growing closer to Colin. She’s always been attracted to him, but the more she gets to know him, the more she likes him.

While I won’t spoil what happens next, it’s basically exactly what you expect. This books was cute, but very predictable.

As the previous book I had read was YA, I was expecting it to be similar to that, however it was pretty streamy at times and it was just too much for me.

This book is also told from the perspective of both Olivia and Colin, but I really didn’t enjoy when it was Colin’s perspective. I know why it was done, I just didn’t love that narrative or the way his parts were written.

Overall this was a cute read, but I found it didn’t compare to Better Than the Movies at all for me. The banter was still A+, but the rest didn’t blow me away - 3.5/5 stars

This book had me in absolute tears because I was laughing so much, so here are three reasons why I think you should read it:

Number 1: Colin is sexy and looks like Ryan Gosling (that man is delectable)

Number 2: Olivia is a hot mess, but HILARIOUSLY witty and charming

Number 3: It’s the brothers best friends trope aka a LOT of angst…like does it get any better than that?

I will say there are some moments where pop culture references take me out of the story a bit, and a few points where I was scared we were leaning towards the miscommunication trope but I’m happy with where the story turns to in the end. Other than that, I had an incredible time reading this book.

If you liked The Unhoneymooners or My Favorite Half Night Stand by Christina Lauren, I think you will LOVE this book.

A gloriously funny, utterly charming romcom with one of the most chaotically brilliant heroines I’ve read in a long time. I devoured this book in one sitting and am still smiling when I think about it days later. A sexy, sassy, laugh-out-loud triumph.

✔️ Sexy banter
✔️ Forced proximity
✔️ Brother’s best friend
✔️ Steamy tension
✔️ Laugh out loud moments

Olivia is a walking disaster (literally - she accidentally burned her apartment building down & is forced to live with her brother & his hot best friend). She receives a text from an unknown number that had mistakenly sent it to her, so while she’s down on her luck at the moment, she continues texting/bantering Mr Wrong Number to fill her sudden void. It’s a classic “You’ve Got Mail” trope, but with a modern spin to it. The story reads fast & engaging, keeping me invested to find out what will happen next in Olivia’s train wreck of a life. It’s a fun sexy rom-com that you shouldn’t take too seriously. And it’s definitely what my mood was calling for.

The story was cute, and I liked the two romantic leads. The beginning was a bit rough around the edges, but they grew on me. Overall an enjoyable read. Predictable in a good way.

Mr. Wrong Number is so much fun! Lynn Painter is such a wonderful author. Olivia and Colin have such an intriguing relationship right from the start of the book, and it's wonderful to watch it grow and blossom into something more. This book truly has everything, roommates, brother's best friend, misunderstandings, tension, and most importantly, a delightful happy ending. Can't wait for Jack's book!

OMGAHHHHH this one was just hilarious! Olivia is a hot mess and so completely lovable at the same time. Colin is Mr. Perfect and uptight and so incredibly hot.

This enemies to lovers/mistaken identity romcom is one of the cutest I’ve read in awhile.!

WOW. Just wow. THIS BOOK! This book is exactly why I fell in love with romcoms. Why I keep reading them every single day. Over the last few years, I have been lucky enough to read some really great books, but THIS ONE is seriously up there with the best.

I was hooked on Mr. Wrong Number from page one! One of my VERY favorite things in books is when there is text messaging (letters, emails, etc) - and this book does it next level! Olivia is a bit of an accident prone, wild child, writer (she reminded me of Hazel from Josh & Hazel) and Colin is an uptight, neat and tidy, numbers guy - I adored their juxtaposition. The banter IRL and over text is the best!

Read it if you love:
Opposites attract
Forced proximity
Brother’s best friend
Lovable characters
Funny family
Literal LOL funny moments
Great steamy moments

Lynn, no pressure, but I will be waiting very (im)patiently for whatever is next from you! Thanks for being awesome! FIVE giant stars. If they gave me a 6th star- you’d get it!

What happens when you send a text to the wrong number???

Olivia Marshall had to move in temporarily with her brother, Jack, and his roommate Colin Beck after some shocking and sad events in her life. She is there to get back on her feet, find a job, and a place to live. What could go wrong? One night she gets a text from someone she doesn't know...…

This book had me smiling from ear to ear! Ever get a wrong text? I got a picture of eggs once with the text saying "let's hit this" either the person was hungry or had a strange egg obsession. Either way, it was not as exciting as the texts sent in this book. They were fun and I loved the banter back and forth. I enjoyed all the characters, and I will even admit to spitting out my drink at the part where she mentions the image of being catapulted off the air mattress when someone sits down on it, because:

a. if you have ever slept on an air mattress on the floor you know how back they suck
b. you have ever had the misfortune of being on one when someone gets off or on them.
c. if you have the sense of humor of a middle schooler (me) you will find this insanely funny.

But I digress, Mr. Wrong Number and Ms. Misdial are funny, they are witty, they are sexy, they talk the talk, but can they walk the walk (which is a lame euphemism for you-know-what)?

You can't go wrong with this book! It's fun, sexy, and steamy!

Thank you to Berkley Publishing Group and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.

Remember when you read Lynn Painter’s book, Better Than the Movies and you though it was the best thing to happen to you since Chick-Fil-A started selling their sauce at the grocery store? Well you have no idea because BTTM was just a warm up. Mr Wrong Number gets the gold medal in the RomCom Olympics of 2021 and Colin wins book boyfriend of the year!

Olivia and Colin are both so lovable. I like them as individual characters and also as a couple. Olivia has perpetual bad luck but Colin sees the light she shines. It’s a little bit forbidden love and a little bit enemies to lovers and a little bit mistaken identity all wrapped in a lovely package of brother’s best friend.

I also loved Olivia’s brother Jack. Even though we don’t learn a lot about him, he has the potential to be a main character himself someday.

This book deserves more than 5 stars!
