"Why do I even like you when you're such a pain in the ass?" I grinned back. "You're just a glutton for punishment, I guess."

Hey, Colin Beck.

I HAVE IT BAD FOR MR. WRONG NUMBER! Olivia's misadventures were a guilty pleasure. A train wreck reality TV show. Lynn's novels are tongue-in-cheek funny, sarcastic-yet-sweet! I am smitten! Romance readers are going to have butterflies and fall in love with Colin and Olivia. If bookworms read Better Than The Movies they are going to think the world of Mr. Wrong Number! Perfect for fans of Emily Henry and Lyssa Kay Adams.

Mr. Wrong Number was the last book I read in 2021 and it was an enjoyable way to end the year.
Fun, texy banter with heart.

Best friend’s little sister trope.

I don't know what to say about this book except that it was PERFECT. I was dying for that first kiss. Such incredible banters and chemistry. It was everything I want in a rom com. 5 perfect stars!

MR. WRONG NUMBER by Lynn Painter is a deliciously humorous, contemporary romcom.

Olivia’s entire life has been a series of freak accidents and misdeeds. The most recent happened when she tried to burn her cheating boyfriend’s love letters and set her home on fire. Oops.

Single, homeless, and jobless, she’s retreated to her hometown and is temporarily living with her brother and his bestie, Colin. Stuck up, jerky, gorgeous Colin who views her as his friend’s annoying little sister.

Life looks up for Olivia when a misdial turns into flirty and fun texting with Mr. Wrong Number.

Colin’s enjoying the sexy fun conversations with Miss Misdial until he finds out his texting partner is Olivia. Oops.

You want tropes and fun? Mr. Wrong Number gives you:

The sexy, fun meetcute
Close proximity
Opposites attract/sunshine and grump
Older sibling’s bestie
Enemies to lovers
So much tension and attraction
Steam but not explicit

Liv is relatable as she’s trying to figure out her career after it implodes and her life after her previous one’s gone up in flames. The struggle’s real. What do you do when a guy you think is hot still sees you as the accident-prone tween you used to be? (Or does he???)

So much giggling while reading this but also some real feels for Liv and her situation.

So dive into the sassy, gigglesnorting joy that’s Mr. Wrong Number.

Great for fans of Falon Ballard, Sophie Sullivan, or Sara Desai.

Absolutely, I loved this. I loved this more than Better Than the Movies. I just sat here in all my love feelings and soaked this book in. I don't know what it is but I am collecting all of my favourite tropes in my final reads of 2021 and I am LOVING it. We've got a brother's best friend trope AND a mild case of enemies-to-lovers on our hands!!! Yes, yes... let it suck you in like it did me.

Olivia's life has gone to shit. After semi-setting her old apartment on fire and losing her job, she's had to resort to a bit of a handout from her parents (that she intends to pay back) and is rooming with her brother and his best friend. Colin is all business and kinda has a stick up his ass, and cannot stand the hot mess that is Liv. She's barely lived there for a day and has already left a mess in her wake. She can't say that luck is on her side but just as she starts feeling a little down about her current living situation, she receives a text from someone she doesn't know. Either she's bored or has a death wish because before she knows it, their text exchanges continue and she's kinda looking forward to seeing his name pop up.

Colin has not once thought about Olivia in any way other than her being his best friend's chaotic, annoying, hot mess younger sister. Even when she moved in, he could've never believed that he'd ever think of her as more than that. But the longer he sees her, the more he puts the puzzle that is Olivia together and he begins to understand her a bit more. Is she a mess? Yes. But does she have drive and dedication to making herself better? Yes again. Colin's in for a few more surprises but nothing tops the fact that Liv is less mess and more hot now.

I JUST found this so charming? I don't know what it was about Colin but he opened his mouth and I was like yes absolutely. Yes sir, whatever you say sir. I loved him a lot. Lynn Painter understands the assignment yet again!! One thing I appreciated about Mr. Wrong Number was the fact that I actually bought their relationship. I loved their chemistry so much whether they were themselves or texting these wrong numbers. I don't have much else to say other than I started and finished this in one day and L O V E D every second.

One thing I wish they mentioned (and maybe they did and I completely missed it) was HOW this mixup started. How did Mr Wrong Number get the "wrong number"? I couldn't put that together because like WHAT ARE THE ODDS LMAO? If I missed this, someone please tell me. I'd love to fill that gap in my head.

Anyways, read it. I think this was wonderful.

In a world awash in contemporary romances that are billed as romantic comedy, Mr. Wrong Number, by Lynn Painter, stands out – way far out – for being exactly what is advertised. From the setup to the end, Painter understands the assignment – comedy – and goes all the way with it. Having already cultivated a devoted fan base with her amazing YA debut novel, Better Than the Movies, Painter is ready to pull adult romance readers into her corner.

The current trend of romcom heroines are pale, flimsy shadows in comparison with Painter’s heroine, Olivia, who is an unrepentant hot mess. Olivia has personality in spades and bucks the trend of slightly frazzled but permanently chipper romantic leads whose flaws are minor and cute. Luckily, Mr. Wrong Number, the guy who accidentally texted her and on whom she is now crushing, is actually her brother’s roommate, Colin Beck. Colin is the opposite of Olivia in every way and when the two of them stop being annoyed by each other and start being aroused, neither of them will ever be the same.

Painter excels when she ratchets up the zany factor. Her humor is broad, but smart and you can’t help but stop reading to savor some of her one-liners. If the current crop of romcoms have left you disappointed by their lack of laughs, Mr. Wrong Number will restore your faith that the com is back in romcom.

This was an adorable and sexy brother's best friend trope that is light and easy to read! I loved the back and forth between Mr. Wrong Number and Ms. Misdial, but I loved the banter between Colin and Olivia while she's living with him and her brother. I really felt that connection between the two characters, and this story made me laugh multiple times. It's another fun read that will spice up your spring morning when it comes out!

This was one of my most ANTICIPATED releases of 2022 and let me tell you it did not disappoint! Lynn Painter has done it once again, Mr. Wrong Number was such a funny, cute, and romantic read!

I really loved how real and relatable the characters were, Olivia’s inner monologue was so fun to read! You could really see that Painter really enjoyed writing the character, as her unique voice really shone out! She was an unapologetic hot mess and I loved it! I also LOVED Colin, he was such a dreamy love interest. The banter between the two was unmatched and I loved their chemistry. Painter killed it with the brother’s best friend trope, the forced proximity trope, and the wrong number trope (I don’t know if that’s a trope but if it is it was SO well done). Their love story was also pretty well-paced, so I did not get the insta-love ick!! Their romance was insanely cute, gave me butterflies, and had my eyes glued to the pages!

Overall, a fantastic adult debut from Painter! This book was hilarious and romantic all at once, a must-read for romance lovers!

I loved this one!! The idea of getting a random text one night and actually have a sort of chemistry with the person on the other end is so FUN. This book actually had me laughing out loud MULTIPLE times and it made me happy. Collin + Olivia = perfection. They had wonderful chemistry and it was so fun to see how their relationship has transitioned from the past to the here and now. Olivia's character made my heart extremely happy: shes a hot mess but out here living her best LIFE.

Good things to know about this book:
Brothers bestfriend trope
Enemies to lovers

An improbable but entertaining romance about a wrong number text message that brings a couple together without knowing in real life they feel nothing but exasperation for the other.

CW: cheating (past relationship not between MCs, off page), tense family relationships

I would recommend if you're looking for (SPOILERS)

-m/f frenemies to lovers
-sibling's best friend
-roommance/close-proxmity
-espistolary
-a MC with terrible luck
-opposites attract

I really enjoyed reading this book.. This was my first Lynn Painter and she has such an addicting way she writes, quick, witty, and right in the action. I am obsessed with the trend of more MCs being wonderful aunts and showing that relationship and really enjoyed Olivia. She was authentic entirely herself even if it was a bit of a disaster.

Colin was also wonderful, a bit stern, her brother's best friend, and entirely type A. He was a bit too take care of the sad little puppy at times for me and wish we had seen that change in their relationship sooner for me to be fully on board the Colin train. But overall a wonderful and fun romantic comedy. Low angst and low steam, I know this one is going to be a hit with many.

Steam: 2 (you know they're having sex but very vague terms, if anything a peak around the door but really closed door IMO)

This was super cute and very fun, I read it in a single lazy morning because it was so easy to just keep going. The banter between Olivia and Colin (both as themselves and as their wrong number alter egos) was excellent, and I'm an absolute sucker for the secretly-they're-writing-each-other trope.

I understand why Olivia being such a klutz was important to the plot developments but really, I think as a society we should leave that trope to the graveyard of Just My Luck-era movie rom coms. I also thought there were one too many Big Third Act Conflicts - the inevitable wrong number reveal would have been enough on its own.

Lynn Painter has done it again! I don’t think I could ever get over how fun and hilarious her rom-coms are. Mr. Wrong Number has all the right ingredients, laugh-out-loud mishaps, hate-to-lovers, brother’s best friend, forced proximity, and sizzling banter & chemistry between our two main leads. I loved following Olive’s crazy shenanigans and watching her own her ‘imperfect’ life compared to Colin’s organized structure. The progression of their relationship felt incredibly natural with the slowburn and didn’t feel rushed or ingenuine at all. I’ve read so many romances this year that the actual romantic moments in some books don’t even faze me anymore but Lynn Painter is one of the few authors and whose books are one of the few books that actually give me butterflies when I read (and re-read) any romantic scenes. I think the only reason I gave this four stars instead of five was that there was a lot of hot and cold between Olivia and Colin. They would get into a fight or ‘break up’ and then make up/get together multiple times starting from the 50% mark, which got a tiny bit repetitive. I also wish the epilogue was extended even just a page or two more because the ending felt a little abrupt . But I definitely still recommend this book if you were a fan of BTTM and funny, swoonworthy romcoms!

Thank you so much for the ARC, @berkleyromance, this book is a HOOT! (Are the kids saying hoot these days, or are my 30s showing? ) Seriously though, this book is a fun ride from beginning to end! Olivia Marshall has a lot of bad luck. Her boyfriend
cheated then dumped her and she may or may not have accidentally set her apartment on fire 0, So when she gets a text from a wrong number that turns into an anonymous relationship with quick banter and lots of swooning, her life starts to go on the upswing.
Colin Beck thinks Olivia is nothing more than his best friend's annoying sister. When she moves in to get her life on track, he finds she's something else entirely. But
things get a whole lot complicated when he finds out she's his sexy Miss Misdial.
Close proximity
Best friend's sister
Texting
Seriously sweet gifts
Hidden identities
This book has lots of laughs and lots of swoon. Def add
this one to your TBRs!
Mr. Wrong Number is out March 1, 2022! *

I truly enjoyed the book, however I thought that the beginning was a bit slow. I almost DNFed it at 25%. I also didn't really like Olivia's personality. I know she's supposed to be portrayed as carefree but I think she was more careless. Colin saved the story. Also, the chapters were way too long, but that's my personal opinion!

The banter between both of them was super funny! Overall, it was a good book.

Mr. Wrong Number debt novel by Lynn Painter is predictable and hilarious. Thanks, NetGalley, for allowing me to read an advance copy.

Oliva Marshall is a walking disaster, and her latest craptastic tale, the layoff, the cheating, the breakup, the fire, had her fleeing Chicago back home to Omaha. She will be staying with her brother Jack and his roommate Colin Beck. When she receives a "What are you wearing?" text from a wrong number, it turns out to be one of the hottest relationships she has ever had. " All this nothing has meant more to me than so many somethings." I loved this laugh-out-loud story. Lynn Painter's voice is something that I would read again.

Its been a while where I find a book that makes me laugh out loud, feel butterflies and makes me want to tear up but somehow Mr. Wrong Number did that for me. The writing honestly had so much voice from the main characters. Oliva was full of life and spunk. She was sarcastic, clumsy and such a lovable character. I could feel her energy radiating off the pages and it made me want to keep reading.

When it comes to relationships, I die for playful banter and thrive for that in my own relationships so I loved reading a book where that comes into play. Oliva and Collin's enemies to lovers troupe was fun to read mostly because of their comebacks to each other. I love reading about two people that can tell each other to sod off then slowly start realizing that they are falling for each other. There was a good amount of the miscommunication troupe and it did get a bit annoying by the end but they figured it out.

Overall, this was a very cute and playful read. I read it in one sitting and I recommend it to anyone looking for a book that will make you laugh, wrinkle your nose and make your stomach flip a few times. Thank you to NetGalley for giving me an advance readers copy for my honest review.

Bad luck and chaos seem to follow Olivia Marshall everywhere. She’s clumsy and chaotic but loves life and lives hers out loud and to the fullest. After her entire apartment complex burns to the ground, she find herself staying with her brother and his annoying handsome, stuck up best friend, Colin Beck.

One day Olivia gets a text from a number she doesn’t know “what are you wearing?” The message says. Mr. Wrong Number and Ms. Misdial strike up an anonymous friendship, texting almost constantly. And as time goes on, Olivia and Colin’s playful “hateful” banter turns into much more than either of them bargained for…

Mr. Wrong Number is delightfully fun and light hearted, sexy, and oh so sweet. The perfect romcom! Brothers best friend, “enemies to lovers”, witty, sarcastic, and saucy banter! Such a fun read!

I LOVED Lynn Painter's dual perspective debut adult rom com!! Her YA book Better than the movies was one of my favorites from 2021 so I had really high expectations for this one and it did NOT disappoint!! Olivia's life has literally gone up in flames and she is crashing with her brother and his best friend Collin. Full of hilarious face palm screw ups, I fell in love with Olivia and Collin and were cheering for them to figure it out to get their HEA. Add this one to your #tbr for 2022 if you enjoy:

- Amazing banter and chemistry between the MCs
- Anonymous texting relationship
- Forbidden best friend's sister trope
- Forced proximity/roommates
- Open door, steamy romance
- The books Sweet talk by Cara Bastone or If you ask me by Libby Hubscher

I'm even more excited to learn that Olivia's brother Jack is getting his own story too. The author included an excerpt for her next book and I'm already on the edge of my seat in anticipation! Much thanks to #NetGalley, the author and Berkley Books for my advance review copy!!

A wrong number on a text that goes oh-so-right.
I loved this book. It was witty, charming, emotional and at times so inner-reflective I felt the author could have been writing about me.

Olivia Marshall hasn’t had the best year. When she’s forced to room with her bother and his roommate after accidentally burning down her apartment building, one wrong thing after another keeps happening. She loses her job, her boyfriend, and her income in one felled swoop. When she receives a text from someone she doesn’t know and then realizes the texter dialed incorrectly, another new chain of events starts that has her thinking her life is going to get better.

What ensues if a story of mistaken identity, hidden secrets, and so much sexual tension that you keep turning the page just to see how it resolves.

I’ve never read Lynn Painter before but I am a certified fan right now!
I was allowed a sneak peek read from Netgalley for an honest opinion of the work and I think this book is a winner! 5 well deserved stars!
