I love messing with people who accidentally text me instead of someone else, so this was a great read for me!

Brothers best friend, enemies to lovers, and forced proximity. Some of my favorite tropes, all in one book! I really loved the concept of this one - a wrong number leads to a long, anonymous text exchange a la You've Got Mail. This was a super cute, quick read - perfect for beach reading this summer!

A fun vacation read or for the beach.

This is what I would call a wonderful vacation or beach read. It doesn't take itself too seriously and their is
dual POV which are my all time favorites. I was a little nervous because brother best friend romances are hit or miss for me, but I fully enjoyed Olivia and Colin's story.

After finishing this book I can confidently say that I will read any book that Lynn Painter writes in the future. This rom-com was everything I could have wanted and more.

First, I adored the characters. Olivia and Colin were so well developed and their personalities felt realistic and added so much to the story. Olivia was clumsy, confident, and scared of love. While Colin was more on the put together, flirty type. I loved them together and their romance had me smiling all the way through.

Also, I read this in one sitting without meaning to and that made it SO much better. I got to the first sex scene and was baffled. thinking, "how is it so soon?" only to realize I was 70% through the book and had been reading for hours, not the few minutes I had planned! The plot and story was addictive and pulled me right in.

Additionally, this book has the anonymous relationship trope and it was *chef's kiss*. If you are at all a fan of that one, then this book is on you need to be picking up! Oh, and did I mention. It also has the brother's best friend trope?

Lynn Painter is such a talented author and after reading Mr. Wrong Number I am so looking forward to reading more from her!

This is a goofy, light-hearted read, perfect for fans of Abby Jimenez or Christina Lauren. The heroine is an entertaining delight and the romance is steamy.

Olivia Marshall doesn’t have a drinking problem. She doesn’t have a relationship problem. She certainly doesn’t have any work-related problems. No, Olivia just has a life problem.

After getting laid off, catching her boyfriend cheating on her, and accidentally setting her apartment on fire when she burned that cheater’s love letters, Olivia has no choice but to move back home to Omaha and take up residence with her brother and his best friend while they graciously let her stay for a while. Olivia was expecting her life to suck for a while, but two things she wasn’t expecting? Colin Beck, her brother’s pompous best friend who seems to be more in shape and less stuck up than she remembered. And Mr. Wrong Number, her anonymous texting friend who ends up helping her through the ups and downs of her unstable life. But even as Olivia finds herself falling for Colin, she realizes that the anonymous Mr. Wrong Number can send her reeling with just the knowledge of his true identity.

I thought Mr. Wrong Number was truly a delight. Readers can’t help but feel sorry for Olivia as her world continuously falls apart, but then end up laughing with her – not at her – on the next page. To say that Olivia’s life was a mess is definitely an understatement; I honestly don’t know what else could have gone wrong for this poor woman. But Painter keeps the hope alive. As Olivia is knocked down time and time again, she’s simultaneously building these relationships around her that will see her through even her darkest times. While romance is definitely a major theme in Mr. Wrong Number – it’s both the catalyst and the solution to Olivia’s darkest days, after all – I truly enjoyed the emphasis on many types of relationships (romantic, platonic, familiar, work) to help get you through.

While Olivia’s world was shattering, she had a great cast of characters to help her through it. Colin was Olivia’s opposite in every way; a control freak to her mess, all serious compared to her lighter demeanor. But when they clicked? Their chemistry was off the charts and pure fire (and maybe just as dangerous as the actual fire that Olivia used to burn her ex’s letters). I loved every interaction between the two, even when they both had a habit of misunderstanding the other. The dual POV really added to both of their stories, and I thought Colin’s perspective expanded Olivia’s story just as much as it added to his own. Combining Colin’s commentary with the secondary characters, especially Olivia’s family and friends, gives you a fun take on what should be the roughest part of Olivia’s life. Thankfully, Olivia is able to laugh and cry through it all so we can see her get her happy ending.

With a unique plot and an easy-to-read writing style, Painter gives us a lot to love in Mr. Wrong Number. Readers who love opposites attract and the anonymous communication/acquainted in real life trope will absolutely not want to miss Olivia and Colin’s romance.

This was a fun story! Colin accidentally sends a steamy message to the wrong number. When Olivia receives the message, she is confused, but plays along. Eventually opening up to this mystery man. Colin has only ever seen Olivia as his best friend's little sister, when he realizes that Olivia is the wrong number, he has an internal battle, to date his friend's little sister or not. The only unrealistic thing about this story is Olivia returning a beautiful bed that Colin gifted her when she realizes that he knew about the text number screw up. No one would rather sleep on a mattress bed. Especially if you are anywhere near 30. That is back and neck pain for days. Anyways, this is a cute rom-com story!

I really liked the synopsis of Mr. Wrong Number and wanted to love Colin and Olivia. Sadly I was not connecting with the book and put it down after reading about 20%.

Down on her luck, Olivia has just moved in with her brother and his roommate, Colin. When Olivia receives a "What are you wearing?" text from a wrong number she decides to answer and ends up in an anonymous texting relationship with Mr. Wrong Number.
Meanwhile, Colin is enjoying messaging the unknown, Miss Misdial, Until the day he realizes his almost sexting partner is none other than Olivia, his best friend's little sister.

This book was a fun read with lots of laughs and heart. The characters were great and the banter was fun. The texting was risqué but there were no graphic sex scenes. I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to others looking for a light rom-com.

Olivia Marshall’s family has always considered her a bit of a mess. It’s hard for make a case against that when she (accidentally!) burns down her apartment building in Chicago after finding her boyfriend sleeping with one of her colleagues. She returns to Omaha, having lost all her possessions in the fire where her older brother offers her a room in his apartment for a month.

Soon, Olivia realizes her brother doesn’t live alone. Colin Beck, her brother’s best friend, who incessantly teased her while they were growing up, not only is Jack’s roommate but owns the apartment. While Olivia’s situation just can’t seem to get worse, it does—with small and large problems (some quite funny).

Her balm is a text-only correspondence with “Mr. Wrong Number” that began we he asked her what she was wearing after misdialing a number. Their nightly exchanges, full of teasing, flirting, and commiseration, provide Olivia comfort, so much she regrets they agreed they wouldn’t meet.

But Mr. Wrong Number has problems of his own… he finds out that his Miss Misdial is none other than Olivia, his best friend’s little sister. Ghosting Miss Misdial would be the easiest solution but with Olivia living in the apartment, Colin struggles to let go of his feelings.

A fun read, MR. WRONG NUMBER had me laughing out loud, not so much at Olivia but with her. Who doesn’t feel like a train wreck at times? The banter was on point and steam 🔥🔥🔥! I found how Olivia’s perspective of the past affected her feelings, decision-making and ability to trust interesting, as well as the sibling relationships since I am an only child. Colin was a dreamy book boyfriend but I was surprised he didn’t anticipate some of the conflict between him and Olivia.

If you are looking for a fun, feel-good romance with character growth, MR. WRONG NUMBER is an excellent choice!

Mr. Wrong Number is a laugh-out-loud and charming novel that is surprisingly steamy to boot! I love the use of text messages in the story and loved how the dual narratives are used. I feel like there was a lot about this story that I could nitpick, but sometimes it's nice to just enjoy something without overanalyzing it. So I'll leave it at that.

When I first started the book, I liked Olivia and thought she was hilarious. But then as time went along, I found her really annoying and inconsiderate ..which is totally on me (I think).

What I didn’t like:

- I tried my best to overlook things, but in the end, I found the coincidences hard to believe.

I somehow assumed that Colin had accidentally dialed Olivia’s number instead of who he intended. At least that’s what the premise had me thinking.

Instead, he somehow dials her number, which is completely random. How is that even possible for someone who’s supposedly known her for a long time and is temporarily living with her as a roommate?

- I also found Olivia’s clumsiness hard to believe. While it was funny at first, I felt like it was overdone. She wasn’t just a train wreck. She was a bull in a China shop.

I think there will be many who will love this one, and in the end, it was just a ‘me’ thing.

Everyone thinks Olivia Marshall is a mess. And maybe she is in this moment. After all she is currently crashing on an air mattress in the apartment her brother shares with his roommate because she decided to move back home to Omaha after accidently setting her apartment on fire and getting dumped by her boyfriend. To make matters worse, her brother's roommate is his childhood best friend Colin Beck who has always made Olivia feel like a clumsy nuisance. As she tries to piece her life back together (and keep herself from killing either her brother or Colin), Oliva's one piece of solace comes from a random wrong number text that turns into a funny, sexy, and safely anonymous relationship. Things get tricky though when Colin realizes his misdial is Olivia. He can't quite reconcile the woman in the text with the woman he knows in real life, but he's definitely intrigued....and unsure of how to move forward without hurting his relationship with his best friend or Olivia. Will Colin and Olivia be able to come clean and build a new relationship or will this be another relationship that goes up in flames?

This is a cute quick read. I would recommend for fans of contemporary romance and fans of the close proximity and Sibling's Best Friend tropes. Olivia is a fun hot mess that I think most people can relate to or sympathize with on a certain level and I certainly appreciate the ferocity with which she lives her life. Without delving into spoilers, there were a few to many circumstantially lucky moments and bad choices that worked out well to make some of this story feel very plausible. The elements I most enjoyed were the tension between Olivia and Colin and their texting relationships.
