This book rocks. I love the momology (my totally made up word) at the beginning of each chapter. I laughed so hard at times I snorted and had tears streaming down my face. I do not advice reading in public for being given crazy looks (got quite a few). I thought I loved Rachel’s story, but Molly may just have surpassed it. The inner monologues are a thing of beauty. How does the relationship guru fail at relationships, by being Molly. Gavin is on a girlfriend break and finds himself the perfect girlfriend. This is irony at its best. Don’t get me started on the antics of the children. Those pop up just when you think you can’t possibly laugh any more, and then you find out you were wrong. This is just the best blend of romance and comedy and will be read by me multiple times.

There's Something About Molly is the follow up book to Christina Hovland's Rachel, Out of Office. This book can be enjoyed as a stand alone- however with the interesting dynamics of the H & h's (Gavin and Molly) relationship to the H & h in the previous book (Travis & Rachel), I personally think TSAM is so much better knowing the "where we started" and "where we are now" of the characters in this book.

I'm loving this "Mom" series from Christina- the way she is writing these moms and their feelings/thoughts feels so relatable. Molly is the fun friend, the bit of a mess single mom but also the one who puts everyone's happiness above her own. She is tough, witty and fiercely loyal to the point where she dislikes her best friend Rachel's ex-husband on principle for the hardships he had caused Rachel. Gavin- who if you read Rachel, Out of Office- was originally not a very present father and made a few interesting choices in his co-parenting relationship but in this book he really is a changed man. Yes, he still is learning but his character is definitely redeemed in this book.

There's Something About Molly had me cracking up throughout the story, the banter was fun and witty, the kids and the way they thought and acted- even the return of Gavin's mom and her "cat". The humor helped keep me turning the pages a quickly as I could but it was also the vulnerability, the support of the group of mom friends, and making your own family no matter how it looks that had me in love. I actually adored Gavin in this book- he knew he screwed up before and was taking the steps he needed to in order to get his life in order. He was sweet, thoughtful and could understand that he had to move slowly with Molly because for all of the tough exterior she portrayed she really was scared to let someone in close.

I identified with Molly in so many ways but man did I want to shake her sometimes and shout "NOOOO! WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?!" Molly definitely took the long road in her relationship with Gavin, so there was this great slow burn of building not only a friendship but then the more intimate relationship. And really when you are considering dating your best friend's ex-husband after she married his brother, you might want to take your time in that choice. There was some definite heat coming from the pages once Molly and Gavin gave into each other.

Laugh out loud single mom romcom
There’s Something About Molly (Mommy Wars Series Book 2) by Christina Hovland is a truly entertaining romcom with amazing characters and fantastic dialogue. It doesn’t matter if these characters are interacting or expressing their thoughts, this author’s writing is witty and smart. Molly is something else! She possesses an amazing façade of self-assurance, but her friends see through her and so does Gavin. Speaking of Gavin, he got himself a bad rep, but he redeems himself spectacularly in recognizing and understanding the real something about Molly.
The plot is intriguing as well as entertaining, taking Molly through her much needed emotional paces. There’s so much growth and that is a very good thing. Thank goodness for friends and the persistence of a good man!
Overall, this romcom is sweet comedy while building the years in the making steamy tension to the breaking point between Gavin and Molly. Stars finally align and chemistry implodes while emotions grow deep and true for Molly to finally realize it really is her turn for the HEA.
I read an ARC of this book and voluntarily share my review.

Holy moly you guys - this series has been such a wonderful surprise for me! I love the unconventional relationships. I love the way the heroes care for and empower the heroines. I love - so so much - the way they cause my heart to flip, flutter and ache with emotion as it fully invests in the romance and goes all-in on the ride.

Gavin and Molly were an absolute delight to read! I wasn't always sure about Molly - not going to lie, her resistance to Gavin who - in this book anyway - was basically irresistible, drove me crazy sometimes. I did, however, love her character arc. I might have liked a little bit of a deeper dive into her insecurities, and a bit more of a resolution to what that was all about - but from a romance perspective, it was all completely satisfying to me.

And Gavin. Lord almighty, y'all. If you read Rachel, Out of Office (and you don't have to, but you should!) - you will be blown away by the dreamboat into which Christina Hovland managed to redeem this guy. I adored him. And I loved the support that Rachel - and all of Molly's friends - gave to their relationship.

In fact, maybe best of all in this series so far is the healthy, empowering, supportive network of female friendships that is portrayed. It's so rewarding and so much fun to read about.

In all - this was another fantastic story. I absolutely adored how it played out and my heart is so happy with he happily ever after Gavin and Molly were given. ~ 4.5 Stars

Loved this book! Had to read it all in one sitting and girll, am I ever so happy I did. There is just so much going on in this novel. Molly is probably one of my favorite of Hovland's characters. Poor Gavin has no idea what to make of Molly most of the time and that's the best. Poor guy catches up eventually but even then Molly will, I think, constantly confuse the guy. Highly recommend reading Rachel Out of Office first.

“I can’t tell you about having sex with your ex-husband.” 😱

Even though Molly gives dating advice on “youtube”, she has horrible luck in the dating world. Molly needs money, so she enters a matchmaking competition and recruits her best-friends ex husband! (Yes I was a little confused about that as well.) Anyway, what happens when Molly finds out Gavin isn’t so bad after all and has her best friends blessing??? They both start catching feelings ❤️

Even though I was expecting a lot of humor, it was still a very cute straight forward story with a slow-building romance. You’ll find yourself rooting for Molly and Gavin who deserve their own happily ever after. I also really enjoyed all of Molly’s friends! I’ll definitely go back and read Rachel’s story because I need to know about all of that! Apparently she married her ex husbands brother 😂

There’s something about Molly by Christine Hovland a five-star read that has that something about it. Molly, Molly, Molly what are we going to do with you, I could easily identify with Molly, she is likable and does her best for everyone else, especially her son Oliver, and her friends especially Rachel, so I get her feelings for Gavin. Gavin is someone we shouldn’t like, he’s the best friend’s ex-husband, the spoiled rich boy who will never grow up, but he is just so likable, and lickable a lethal combination. I like to imagine he smells like the toaster treats his family created. He surprised me the most, he won me over so much, I didn’t realise that this was series at first, I loved the other characters so I will be going to check out their stories, but it didn’t matter that I hadn’t read the other stories, I wasn’t missing anything, it was just like catching up with that old friend, you don’t see each other for ages, but you still pick up the conversation. That is what Molly and her friends are like, I will be honest and Molly did at times grate on me, but I honestly think that’s why I loved it so much, it added a realness to the story, it wasn’t all sugar and marshmallow.

This is actually my first Christina Hovland book and... it won't be my last. While I wasn't IN LOVE with the book, I couldn't necessarily find any fault with it either. It's a pretty cut and dry love story with nothing that was quite new(ish). Except Gavin. I love him. Don't get me wrong I love a good love story and this was a pretty cute one but I felt as if I had read it before, if that makes sense. I also did really feel a connection with Molly, she was just kinda eh for me. Will I revisit it in the future? probably, it was a cute read with a good romance.

3.5/5 -> rounding up to 4

There was nothing wrong with this book, there was just nothing unique about it. It wasn't funny, it was a very straight forward love story about a self-sabatoging woman and the guy crushing on her. I knocked it out quickly, it was an easy read.

I really have mixed feelings on this one. I want to love these two together but it took me to the end to feel the connection. Hovland did a great job balancing them together between the bad persona of Gavin and the insecure Molly but I felt that Gavin had so much more to deal with in her world.

While they built a good repour, playful bantering’s, and enjoyed a steamy scene or two, I really missed the overall hold your breath moments that make a romance.

Overall, There’s Something About Molly is a fun, fast story that combines motherhood, best friends, and a swoon-worthy guy you will love.

Christina Hovland writes such fun books. There's Something About Molly is the follow up to Rachel, Out of Office. I adore this world of women doing jobs that are so relevant and relatable to life right now. Molly has a online dating advice show but doesn't have the influencer lifestyle. She still struggles as a single mom to make ends meet and give her son all that she can. In order to win a large prize to send him to stunt camp, she enters a matchmaking contest. Through the contest and every day interactions with her son, her friends and his friends - Gavin ends up "helping" with the contest. Hijinks and lots of romance ensue. I love how Hovland brings humor and real life into the story. While we read romance for an escape, she provides us with one we can still relate to.

this is a solid 4.5 for me. I am a fan and will gladly devour any books she sends my way!

This was a super sweet story with characters you'll love. Gavin is a dreamboat. Molly is self-destructive and a seriousssss overthinker, but they're perfect together. Her friends are also amazing and always have her back.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for the ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed this title.

I thought this was such a cute rom com. Molly was an incredible main character and I think her vulnerability and insecurities were so real and relatable. I also enjoyed all of the connections between the characters and I think the development and learning to accept the right love was so nice! The book was playful and light with real narrative and tones and I can't wait to read more of Christina Hovland's books. Sunday mimosa club was fabulous and I enjoyed the girl group vibes. Gavin and Molly really were a great match and I'm so happy they found each other!

I love love loved this book! The only thing I would recommend is not advertising it as a standalone novel. This 100% needs to be read after the first book woth Rachel since it’s so integrated. I did love this book

I’d like to start by saying thank you for allowing me the opportunity to read this advanced copy. I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I felt like it wasn’t your typical enemy turned relationship trope story, nothing cheesy or predictable. I feel like the author was able to describe in detail and make the readers feel/understand all the reasons the two main characters grew and fell for each other. One of my favorite aspects of this book was the banter and playfulness between Molly and Gavin. I could feel the tension and drama (and eventually the love) jump off the pages while reading. There were also quite a few times I laughed out loud while reading. I would highly recommend this read to anyone who loves romance and likes to laugh. I couldn’t put it down, I actually finished reading it in 3 hours! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Molly is a dating guru who hasn't made it to a 2nd date since her last relationship imploded 8 years ago, leaving her a single mom. Rachel' is her best friend. Gavin is Rachel's ex-husband. Molly has always disliked Gavin, because, well, best friend code. But, Rachel and Gavin have gotten to a place of understanding. Plus, this book opens at Rachel's wedding to Gavin's brother, Travis. Confused yet?

This is the 2nd book of a cute series that's just right for a relaxing weekend. Funny in places, poignant in others - the series revolves around women who have been putting motherhood ahead of their own needs, but they learn to give themselves some grace.

I found Molly's character a bit obtuse - she just couldn't believe that she was worthy of a HEA/ The resolution was a little too rushed, in my opinion. Nonetheless, I'll keep reading this author and this series.

I love Molly! As competent as she is with all aspects of her life, she still lacks confidence in herself. I loved this about her as it made her so relatable. And Christina Hovland worked a miracle making Gavin so likeable. After meeting him in the previous book, I was so surprised that I was crushing on him very early on in the book! The story had me laughing out loud at several points. I loved the humor and the emotions. I truly was sad when the book ended. I look forward to more books from the characters in this book. I absolutely love the momisms at the beginning of each chapter. I received an advance copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Christina Hovland is fast becoming one of my favorite RomCom authors. This is book two of the Mommy Wars series and can be read as a stand-alone (but read Rachel Out of the Office, it’s great too). Molly Princeton is a single mom and dating advice influencer. The irony is that every first date she has, ends up with her date finding his soulmate (and it’s not Molly). Molly enters a matchmaking competition, and needs a fake boyfriend to help her win (I mean, who would trust a single matchmaker?). Enter Gavin Frank, ex of her best friend Rachel. He is coming off of a broken engagement and is on a dating “diet.” Since his mother keeps trying to fix him, he takes Molly up on her fake relationship idea. This is a funny, touching romance about two people that deserve a happily ever after. I received an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley and the author for my honest review.

‘There’s Something About Molly’ is chock full of ideas and a fair amount of humor. Though it’s technically a standalone, I think readers will get more out of the book if they’ve read ‘Rachel Out of Office’ first, as it introduces both of this story’s main characters in that book.

Molly Princeton is a single mom with an aversion to relationships. She can’t help it; it’s practically a defense mechanism at this point. And it’s ironic, given the fact that she provides dating advice for her career. She most definitely doesn’t have feelings for her best friend’s ex, Gavin, beyond irritation and annoyance. But, when circumstance throw them together, the line between irritation and attraction will deliciously blur. The question becomes whether or not Molly can get over her fears and give love a chance.

As I mentioned above, this book is full of ideas… maybe too many. There are some great tropes here: fake relationship, enemies-to-lovers, etc. but nothing feels completely actualized. Which is a shame, because there are some great moments in the book. I loved Molly’s friendships with her group of lady friends, as well as her relationship with Agnes, but I had a difficult time understanding her motivations and insecurities. We get glimpses of her prior relationship, but I felt like it was more tell than show, so I didn’t really feel the impact of its effects. I liked Gavin as the male protagonist, but couldn’t quite understand why he was drawn to Molly, when frankly, she was kind of standoffish and mean. I needed a little more substance between them to make it believable to me.

Though this mostly missed the mark for me, I think it’s still worth a read if you’re intrigued by the premise.

Thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
