I normally love Christmas romances, but this one did not work for me. I thought that it dragged in too many places, especially where Libby felt that it was her fault for her ex cheating on her with her cousin. If you like slow burn & cosy romances, you might like this.
Libby is a kind woman working as a manager for a local tailoring shop. She is passionate about her work and her upcoming nuptials with the man of her dreams. Rufus, her husband-to-be, has endured so much alongside her and she is so lucky to have a supportive partner.
Until he betrays in the most devastating way possible. She discovers he was sleeping with her cousin, behind her back. Had it not been for Kylie and her pandora's box, Libby would be married to Rufus. Except he loves her cousin and is more concerned about her than Libby. Without a second glance, Rufus moves on with Kylie and leaves a broken-hearted Libby behind.
Her best friend since childhood is getting married! Libby could not be happier for Willow and her perfect match, Tomas. Something in her heart pangs when she remembers she was supposed to be happily married at this point. As Willow's bridesmaid, Libby strives to make her wedding anything less than perfection. It is Christmas time after all! Libby prays that Rufus has an iota of respect for her and that he will not attend the wedding. She could not bear to talk to him again. Especially since he hardly considered her feelings.
At the wedding, Libby meets the most interesting man. He is a friend of Tomas and lives in California! Noah is immediately attracted to Libby's bubbly personality and her strength in finding solutions during hardships.
A winter storm traps the wedding guests at the reception venue, leaving everyone stranded in the cold and uneasy. During the two days, Libby and Noah get to know each other better and wonder if there could be more between them after the wedding is over.
Can this Christmas wedding deliver a miracle for Libby and the wedding guests?
A feel-good, slow-burn romance that is suitable for readers 16 and older. Tilly Tennant had the wonderful idea of creating this book, but the repetition, and lengthy droning of the wedding events, made for a poor execution. There were many moments were Libby wallowed in self-pity, which I found exhausting and boring. I struggled to finish this book, but I enjoyed parts of it.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review!
I really enjoyed that at the beginning of this book there is a bit of drama and I was hooked because I wanted to know what the outcome was going to be.
I loved the descriptions of the wedding prep and the little girls that are bridesmaids are hilarious. I had a few laugh out loud moments throughout this book and most of them were because of the two little girls.
I really enjoyed how inventive Noay and Libby get during a difficult time and how everyone pulls together. It's definitely not ideal to happen like it did but they made the most of it.
I found Rufus totally manipulative and annoying slug. and I didn't like his character at all. The way an author can make you feel such emotion be it positive or negative for a character still amazes me.
I laughed, I cried, I raged and I smiled like a Cheshire cat. I wanted Noah to be who he said he was and seemed to be. I will leave it at that because no spoilers here!
Brilliant book highly recommended.
This book was entertaining and easy to read. Overall, I think the plot and characters were great, but there were too many wedding details that sometimes made the story boring. Also, the slow-paced of the book did not help in that regard. The drama was dragged throughout the book, making it interesting and kept me reading, but I would have liked more romance. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the story, and I really liked Libby and Noah as characters.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture, I had the opportunity to read the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
A sweet story about a woman been cheated few days before her wedding . She is trying to move on but her ex trying to get her back and then in her best friend wedding a glance to a man she do not know change everything . A Christmas Eve snowfall will make the wedding unforgetfull .
I received this book from net galley and the publisher as an ARC. Thank you! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A good story overall, about a jilted bride attending another friend’s wedding and finding a new romance. Both had similar stories, although he was still married. Kept my interest but did drag a bit at times. Would still recommend this one, as it is a nice light romance.
Festive Romcom….
Libby’s wedding day was a disaster when her supposed Mr Right, Rufus, was most definitely Mr Wrong. Now, Libby must face philanderer Rufus once again as she prepares for the wedding of her best friend, Willow. Being chief bridesmaid, Libby knows that everything must proceed without a hitch. Will everything go according to plan? Festive romcom, heartwarming with some nicely drawn characters and holiday vibes.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest review. This book was cute. It held my attention enough for me to want to know how it ended, however it lost me in some parts. The constant emotions struggle on feelings for her ex who cheated on her and was the absolute worst.. I could have done without that retelling almost every chapter. Sometimes I felt like the detail to every room in the hotel was just too much as well. Overall I liked the book, but didn’t love it.
My best friends wedding WOW! What a rollercoaster ride this book was!... Totally gripped from the beginning… Grab yourself a copy of this book! I absolutely loved this! What a fantastic plot, beautifully written, intertwining the relationships between the characters in such an ingenious and realistic way. This book will make you lol and shed a tear. Fantastic ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Everything was going smoothly in Libby's life, she had a fantastic fiancé, Rufus, and their wedding was planned to perfection. She couldn't wait to walk down the aisle and marry the love of her life. Except Mr Right turned out to be Mr Wrong and was shacking up with her cousin, Kylie.
Six months later and her best friend Willow's wedding has come around, Libby is chief bridesmaid and is dreading the possibility that Rufus might turn. Despite, all of the hurt and pain, Libby is worried that she will take him back if she sees him. But who knows he might not show and it is Christmas Eve to be fair...
The wedding goes off without a hitch and whilst everyone is enjoying the reception, Libby had even managed getting through the ceremony without seeing Rufus but he has chosen to rock up at the reception. She is doing her best to stay away from him but as the snow starts pilling up outside, they could be in for a long night... However, being snowed in at Lovage Hall wouldn't be all that bad, as there is the handsome American Noah who is showering Libby with attention. Libby felt an instant connection and she knows that Noah feels it too, but he's got a few skeletons of his own. It will certainly be a wedding night to remember but who will end up winning Libby's heart...
My Best Friend's Wedding was a lovely and easy read, full of comical scenes and cheesy romance. Libby is a tough cookie who hasn't had the easiest of times and is a good friend who puts aside her personal feelings to make her best friend's wedding day go smoothly. She goes above and beyond as a bridesmaid. She was a very likeable main character and I enjoyed reading her journey. The connection that Libby and Noah had was strong, and it flowed naturally. I couldn't stop laughing when Libby came up with "the trio of torment" nickname for the three young bridesmaids, they certainly were interesting and kept me chuckling throughout the book.
Rufus was a nasty piece of work, he was selfish and a horrible human being. He cheated on Libby with her cousin and then expected her to come back when things didn't work out with Kylie. The lie he made up about his mum was awful, what kind of person does that... Although the character I thought was most disappointing was Kylie, first of all girl code and second of all why would you want to be second best. I think they both deserved each other, and men like Rufus as toxic.
I really enjoyed reading My Best Friend's Wedding and it will be a perfect read for Christmas, the book feels very festive and I loved how everyone came together when they got snowed in. I haven't read any of Tilly Tennant's books before and I really liked her style of writing, I will definitely be checking out more of her books.
I was super excited to read this book and so thankful I was sent an ARC!! I gave it 3 stars because the book just started off very slowly. There was just a lot of build up to describe her life. Don't get me wrong I love a good slow burn romance, but there was just something missing for me. There was no immediate chemistry between Libby and her love interest reading it. Maybe I'm missing it but it did get a little better throughout the story.
I absolutely love the rom-com vibes though and would definitely recommend this to someone who loves a good slow slow burn!
Even though I enjoyed aspects of this book, the secret part took too long to reveal it and it wasn't that good. The writing was great .
I read this in one sitting - the book itself is perfect if you're looking for a formulaic, cozy, rom-com (spoiler alert: I always am). This book doesn't bring anything new to the genre but it's so fun and genuinely so charming. Tennant's writing is great, and so the characters all manage to feel both real and compelling. It was really sweet, and I can't recommend it enough if you're a fan of the genre.
If you want a lovely winter warmer of a book then this is it! It may make you cry but it will also make you smile. An absolute joy to read and a definite feel-good book. It’s warm, charming, enjoyable and cosy
