Edward and his daughter Eliza move to the Christmas House which is a bit of a fixer upper. They are trying to escape and build a new life where people don’t know his wife left him and his daughter 3 years ago for fame and fortune. Eliza blossoms at her new school and under her new teacher, Holly. They find a caretaker and thins start looking up. Eliza debates with herself if she should do the school Christmas play. She’s been avoiding the stage since her mother ran off. Edward and Holly start to develop a friendship. Could it be more than that? How will Christmas be in their new house?

This wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. The story itself was very slow. It was also a bit sad throughout with struggles of divorce, parent abandonment and infertility. I liked the setting of the house and the Christmas play but it wasn’t heartwarming or romantic enough for me. It was told in alternating POV from Edward, Eliza and Holly. I was infuriated at Eliza’s mother, Cressida, and was happy with the ending of the story though pretty predictable. It was a little Hallmarky which I do like but it needed to be a little happier and more fast paced for me to really enjoy.

Christmas House is a place where a young man and his daughter go to heal, and start a new life. What they end up doing is giving new life to this run down home, and at the same time, find warmth and generosity all around them. Filled with characters perfect for this wintery tale, this story provides feel-good factor in abundance. When the chips are down I’ll be looking to this author for the same comfort again.

I highly recommend this seasonal tale by Tracy Rees.

Whilst the overall plot isn't a new one the execution was brilliant. I loved the different perspectives, the setting was adorable and the sweet almost innocence to the story was refreshing. It was like a cute christmassy hug which was very much appreciated.

There's something so magical about Hopley Village which makes you want to move there right away and become one of those lucky people who call the place home. Primary school teacher Holly Hanwell is facing a tough Christmas so she puts all her enthusiasm into creating the perfect festive pageant for her pupils. When her newest pupil arrives at the school, Holly soon develops a special rapport with eight year old Eliza Sutton, and is determined to help the little girl overcome her troubles. Edward Sutton, Eliza's dad, is juggling being a single dad in a new house which needs renovations and living a village where they know no-one. Gradually over the space of this lovely story, the lives of Holly, Eliza and Edward start to intertwine and that's when Hopley village starts sprinkling its magic.

Beautifully written with all the characteristic warmth and empathy which this talented author puts in her stories, I was quite captivated by the way everything just fitted perfectly into place. Never overly sentimental but with a huge smattering of ahhh... moments, I just loved everything a

This book is the perfect book to read this holiday.

It has all the elements of those Hallmarks movies that I love to see one after the other while having a cup of tea on a cold day.

I want to say a huge thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for giving me this amazing winter read.

The little Christmas House in the outskirts of a gorgeous village called Hopley. Another heartwarming yet heartbreaking and heartfelt Christmas story set in an English village regarding a couple who are falling in love not long after Holly’s own relationship fell apart 6 months before. A book that will pull at the heart strings, great to read with a warm beverage on a rainy day hopefully you won’t have any emotional memories triggered. The story is well written, detailing on how some single people find love when it’s unexpected or even unwanted at the time. The description of hot chocolate, finding a Christmas tree to chop down and decorate, nativity show, singing carols and festive spirit all makes the Australian woman want to dream of a white Christmas.

Thank you to the publisher for my review copy. All opinions are my own.

What a cute little story. If I’m being honest, it is a story we have all heard before. Wife leaves husband and daughter. They move to a new town. Meets the local teacher and the attraction is immediate.

Let me tell you what stood out for me.

•Three perspectives. The daughter is the third and ohmygosh…I loved it.
•Quaint little cottage in the English countryside. Ummm, yes please.
•There was no huge rush to the physical stuff. It was refreshingly pure. I would have recommended it to my grandma.

Overall. Sweet, sweet story. Glad it made it to my December reading ♥️.

Christmas isn't always easy for everyone, especially if your life has been turned upside down by an unfaithful partner. Teacher Holly Hanwell is determined to put on the annual school Christmas pageant and then spend Christmas alone. Divorced single dad Edward just wants to make it a good Christmas for his young daughter after a few bad years. Loved this book: great location, likeable characters, cute kids and a satisfying storyline about being open to finding love again.

I don’t think this book was for me. I started and stopped several times and just didn’t enjoy it in the least. I love Christmas romances but some just miss the mark

When Eliza walks into Holly's primary grade classroom, Holly sees something special yet hidden about the child. Although Holly is unable to have children of her own (to which her jerk of a boyfriend objected!), her love and dedication to children comes through in her teaching. Eliza and her dad Edward have recently moved to the small village of Hopley, and they are hard at work fixing up their house and getting used to their new home. But will Edward's celebrity ex-wife ruin things for them?

Readers will want to cheer for Holly, Eliza, and Edward as they all come to terms with past disappointments and move on to forge new lives and friendships. The characters are likeable and realistic, and the plot moves along to keep readers interested. This is a clean and sweet romance which can be enjoyed at the Christmas season or any time.

I received this novel from the publisher and from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

This is a gorgeous festive novel that follows three characters – Holly the school teacher who is recovering from having her heart broken earlier in the year; Edward who has just bought Christmas house and is trying to find his feet; and Edward’s fabulous 8-year-old daughter Eliza who is in Holly’s class at school. I loved this novel, it’s a gorgeous read about recovering when the rug is pulled out from under you, about discovering that there are still kind people in the world and learning that you can begin again. I love Eliza and her perceptiveness, and I loved reading all about the goings on at school – especially with the school play. This is such a lovely read and I highly recommend it!

When it comes to the holidays, I want an excessive amount of cosiness and warmth, and The Little Christmas House more than delivers! I loved that a lot of this story is centred around a holiday play- I feel like they play a big role in a lot of our childhood Christmases, and it definitely brought on feelings of nostalgia. I also loved that there were alternating POVs for Holly, Edward, and Eliza; it was refreshing to get a child's POV, and definitely made for a more unique holiday story.
