This was a sweet, gentle romance, the perfect way to kick off my holiday romance reading. Edward, Holly, and Edward's daughter, Eliza, are the stars of the story and we get all of their POVs. I couldn't pick a favorite, I loved them all.
When Edward buys a fixer-upper in Hopley, a small village in Kent, and moves himself and his 8 YO daughter there, he's trying to make a new life for them both, far away from the pain caused when his ex-wife, a now famous actress, moved to Hollywood, and dumped them like old news. Eliza had become a shell of her former vibrant self and Edward, the sweetest dad ever, is desperate to help her regain her confidence. Little does he know that Eliza is going to get just what she needs in the person of Holly, a wonderful primary grade teacher, dealing with her own private pain, who wants nothing more than to bring out the best in all of her students. Throughout the book, these three somewhat bowed, but not broken souls regain their emotional strength and vibrancy. The new beginnings promised by the holiday season form a lovely backdrop to their story. Apparently, the author's previous book is also set in Hopley, and I'd love to go back and read it, but since there is no character crossover, this book is completely a stand-alone.
The Little Christmas House is an absolutely brilliant Christmas read!
30 year old Holly Hanwell is a dedicated primary school teacher, but is still trying to get over a long term relationship that ended badly. It's not till she meets a new family in town that she starts to imagine life differently.
Edward Sutton recently moved to the area with his eight year old daughter Eliza, from Leeds "they day they moved too Hopley village had been the best day of her [Eliza's] life". It was a fresh start for both of them.
The story moves on and we are left wondering why they left Leeds and why are they keeping their three years of secrets firmly locked in the past
This story is a lovely quick read, that flows well. It does have quite an inevitable story line throughout but it is still an utterly charming Christmas read, which I throughly enjoyed.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me a digital copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.
This is a heartwarming holiday read in a perfect village setting for Christmas. Some chapters focus on Holly, a young teacher who is moving forward after a long relationship has ended. Her energy and excitement is being poured into her young students, and preparations for the big Christmas program that she has written for her class.
Other chapters focus on Edward and his daughter Eliza. They are starting over after his famous actress wife left them for her career, and Eliza had a very rough time in her previous school. Holly and Edward find their paths crossing because of school and community events, and a touch of romance is introduced.
A really lovely feel good festive story. Great likeable characters (except the ex but that definitely makes you root for Holly) all about second chances of love. Totally enjoyable
Holly and Edward are two wounded souls. The holiday season is trying for both of them, while they heal from past wounds. Except a boss from Edward’s past blows in just as he and Holly are establishing something. I like holiday themes, a time for hope and moving forward. I loved the cover of the book. It’s a solid romance about two people longing to make a connection and deciding to take chances.
Who doesn't love a good Christmas story? The Little Christmas House (as you may guess from the title) is a lovely tale set in the run-up to Christmas in the village of Hopley in southern England. It tells the story of Edward, his daughter Eliza and her teacher Holly. Holly has recently found herself single, meanwhile, Edward and Eliza have recently moved to the area after Eliza struggled with bullying at her old school after her famous mother left her behind.
This is a feel-good story and perfect to get you in the Christmassy mood. Of course, our characters have to get through a few difficulties to get to their perfect Christmas though. Edward and Eliza need to make their home in Christmas House, setting up home as a single-parent family. Holly has to come to terms with the loss of the life she expected to lead and find a new dream to follow.
I really enjoyed this book. It was lovely to see Eliza come out of her shell with Holly's help and Edward muddle his way through being a single parent with a house to renovate. If you're looking for a Christmas read that isn't just about Christmas, then this may well be exactly what you are looking for.

This is my first read by this author, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the way the author wrote this book, it was a pleasure to read, it was nicely paced and yet at the same time very heart warming, poignant and uplifting. The main characters were so likeable and believable. I particularly liked that the story was told through the characters perspectives and the author grabbed my attention right from the first page and held it all the way through. Overall a great, feel good Christmas book that really hit the mark for me.
With grateful thanks to netgalley for an early copy in return for an honest opinion.

Thirty-year-old Holly Hanwell’s life is almost perfect – she loves her cosy little house in Hopley Village with its yellow front door and cute window seat, and adores teaching at the village school. But she’s secretly nursing heartbreak after her boyfriend dropped the bombshell of a century. He’s having a baby with someone else. It’s over.
This is a wonderful, heart-warming, uplifting novel, full of Christmas spirit. Chapters alternate between Holly, Edward and Eliza; all of which have obstacles to overcome. This book has a nice slow-pace and is very easy to follow.
I loved every page of this book, and I was disappointed to leave Hopley and Christmas House. Definitely a sweet, enjoyable, must read this holiday season.
Rating 5/5
Oh my word, this book has all the festive feels, I couldn't put it down for long, such a wonderful, warm story, I'll definitely be recommending this to anyone who will listen, thank you, well deserved five stars
The Little Christmas House tells the story of Holly - a teacher going through a breakup and coming to terms with the fact that she can't have children, Edward a divorced father of one who is still coming to terms with the breakup and being a single parent to Eliza who is 8 and just wants to spend time with her father in their fantastic new house.
This is an enjoyable christmas read all about lonely people coming together and learning how to believe in themselves. Edward's ex wife is not a likable character which has you firmly rooting for Holly and Edward to finally admit how they feel about each other.
A festive, feel good read!
Tracy Rees’ The Little Christmas House is the story of Holly Hanwell, a teacher who loves her job and thought her life was going great until the unexpected happened. This feel-good brighten your day book will make you believe that second chances are indeed possible. What a delightful gem of a book!
A beautiful, cosy, enjoyable read, like drinking a cup of hot chocolate by the fire.
Meet Edward & Eliza who have just moved into the village of Hopley with plenty of baggage.
Meet Holly, fairly new to Hopley and with baggage and troubles of her own.
Discover if Edward & Holly can give themselves a fresh start in the welcoming village of Hopley.
This is the first book I have read by Tracy Rees and it will not be my last. A perfect book to read in front of the fire on these cosy autumn & winter nights.

A sweet and enjoyable Christmas read...definitely made me wish I could live in, or at least visit, the Christmas House. The book had a bit of a slower pace than a typical holiday read, which I enjoyed. Definitely a heartwarming holiday read.
I’d like a little Christmas house too. An excellent story I which is set in the build up to Christmas, based round the little Christmas house. This book is full of fun and plenty of interest: family, friends and romance. Well worth reading.
I received The Little Christmas House as part of a NetGalley giveaway.
Holly Hanwell is a primary school teacher with a passion for the dramatic arts. Recently single, she directs all her attention towards her pride and joy, her school's annual Christmas pageant. Meanwhile, a young student, Eliza Sutton, enters her class. Eliza is intelligent, kind, and sensitive, but Holly senses something is holding her back. When she meets Eliza's single father, Edward, the pair work together to bring back Eliza's Christmas spirit and in the process find a little magic of their own.
This was a cute romance. It's very sweet and clean, Hallmark Channel in style, but I think I liked it more than those books where the main characters meet, fall in love, suffer some sort of estrangement, reunite, and are engaged in the course of a month.. The pace is a bit more realistic and the characters aren't much for big, sweeping dramatic scenes and pronouncements. Definitely a quiet book, but full of charm and warmth.
A beautifully written feel good book. A father and daughter in need of some love and friendship and that’s exactly what they found at the Little Christmas House. It was obvious where it was going to end but there was so much to enjoy on the journey. The Christmas play, the wildlife in the woods and a small girl to steal your heart. A perfect Christmas book
I really enjoyed this book. It's got a slower pace to it and it was very heartwarming. I will definitely read more of this author's work.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bookouture through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you, Bookouture.

This was just the most beautiful book ,from it's gorgeous cover to the immersive storyline. I haven't read anything quite as engaging as this in recent years!
I was engrossed from start to finish; such a well-crafted, thrilling and moving story surely marks this author as an author to watch. I can't wait for more!
