Fantastic book! Loved the characters and the pacing of this novel. While the setting is historical, I did find the progressive views of the characters on some topics to feel much more contemporary. This wasn’t too distracting, but there was one particular topic which I found the responses of young men in the 1940s - specifically young men in the military - to be unbelievable. Without giving a spoiler, I’ll simply say that I find it difficult to believe they would be as open minded as the author has written them to be. That’s the only reason I’d rate this four stars instead of five stars. I’ve already been recommending this to other fans of WWII era historical fiction!

Until We Meet is a story of three best friends living in the Brooklyn area during the time period of WWII. Dottie, Margaret, and Gladys are such likable characters who are truly brought to life by the author as she weaves a beautiful tale of friendship and love with some loss mixed in as it was wartime. I didn't want the story to end. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is an amazing book centered around three friends during WWII in Brooklyn. You can tell that Camille DiMaio did her research before writing this book. The book goes back and forth between Margaret and Tom’s point of view. I would have liked to have seen the other characters' perspectives too. If you like historical fiction, this book is for you! Some of the war scenes dragged on for me, but the story had a wonderful flow to it. I am looking forward to her next book.
I want to thank the author, Forever Publishing, and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Until We Meet is a lovely historical novel set in 1943 New York. Three friends are at turning points in their lives and they support each other as they also work through romantic relationships that are more delicate because of World War II.

I wanted to read this novel because I love historical fiction, and especially novels set in the 1940's. This is such an engrossing book about friendship, romance, and the World War II home front (with some war scenes depicted as well). Highly recommended for fans of historical fiction and for anyone interested in the World War II home front.

Thanks to Forever and Netgalley for an advanced copy of Until We Meet.

This is a WWII Historical Fiction around three women who meet working in the NYC Navy Yard and the three men they are writing letters to overseas.

I loved the elements of friendship shown by both the women and the men. This book is so well written and you really start to feel for the characters. I loved how this showed that family can be anyone who cares about you as they clearly were like family to each other in this book.

I adored the friendships by the women-- Gladys, Dottie, and Margaret, as well as the men-- John, Tom, and William. This was my favorite aspect of the book. The women had so much tenacity and the men experienced so much hardship. A beautiful book that will make you cry, laugh, and your heart full.

I really wanted to like this book but it was way too slow a pace.. I appreciate the descriptions but it really slowed down the story to the point I didn’t care about the characters anymore. Then, when one of the characters died, I don’t know, that just made me like the book even less.

Thank you to the publisher for my audio and digital copy. All opinions are my own.

To clarify. I listened to this title and spoiler....I adored it. Both the story and the audio....let's talk about it a lil.

This story is told from two perspectives and it was done....chef's kiss well. Tom is overseas training and then spans to war time and Margaret is back home in Brooklyn working and doing her part for the war. I love it when the two main characters get to know each other through letters. So pure and sweet and in this day of everything right now....just simple. Look, I know that there are a bunch and I mean a bunch of Historical Fiction based in WWII. This title, for me, stood out by the audio. I felt like I knew these characters. It was completely immersive.

I loved it. Try it. Oh and hey, if you like audio....try the audio. It was fantastic!

I really loved this story. I REALLY loved the letter writing, it was pure and honest yet sad but offering hope and truth. I adored the cast of characters and felt each MC had such supportive friendships.. Until We Meet does not shy away from the atrocities of war and show how the fights, even the wins, impact us. A beautiful read about love, loss, and how to move on after that.

This WWII love story provides three different perspectives on the war. Each gives insight into the times. A must read for anyone interested in WWII romance.

Until We Meet by Camille Di Maio is a top 5 for me for 2022! Absolutely a beautiful story! I listened to this on audio and it is my favorite! The performance was excellent! The writing and word choices and phrases are so surprisingly beautiful that I had to stop and repeat and think about. Just wonderful!

Camille Di Maio is not a new author for me, I enjoyed her book The First Emma for its historical lesson and interesting characters. Until We Meet is another historical fiction but set during the war.

While the blurb talks about Margaret and Thomas, there is more to this story. With 3 women working in New York during the war, it's a story of their friendship, uncertainty and of waiting. I loved how the correspondence started and what it yielded even though laced with heartache.

Overseas Thomas and 2 new friends bond over training and action. This part was a little slow for me, it wasn't until the last half of the book where things took off and then it got rather gritty.

Again I enjoyed the authors writing style, the back and forth played out nicely. The ending was nice though I will confess that I wasn't totally taken with a few aspects of it. .

Until We Meet is unique story that I recommend for the historical fiction lovers and those that just like a good book to read.

My thanks to Forever Books for a digital ARC in exchange for a honest review.

I don't often pick up historical fiction/romance, but I was drawn to this story based on the blurb alone, and it did not disappoint! Even though it is only March, I know Until We Meet will be one of my favorite books of this year.

I was drawn into the lives of Margaret, Gladys, Dottie, John, William, and Tom from the very beginning of the book. They were all wonderful characters whose friendships, romances, triumphs, and losses made for an engaging story. The book is told through Margaret and Tom's POVs but you get to know all of them well.

It was interesting to see how much has changed since their experiences during World War Two, but also how much was still the same today. As this book is centered on the war there is loss and sadness that broke my heart. There is hope, love, and even happiness despite the pain they experience, too.

From the very first page I had a hard time putting this book down until I reached the end. I cannot wait to read more from this author.

Margaret wants to do more for the war effort. She works at the navy yard but she still feels the need to help. She decides to teach her friends how to knit. These lovely ladies get together and start to knit socks. It is not long after the first shipment of socks have been delivered that a beautiful pen pal relationship begins.

Margaret, Gladys and Dottie come from different backgrounds but are fast friends. Dottie finds herself in a situation most women did when their men went off to war. Gladys is more of a free spirit until the right one comes along. And Margaret is bossy and a go getter! She is the leader of the team and one of my favorites.

I read this in one sitting on a plane ride to NYC. PERFECT BOOK FOR THAT TRIP! I loved the setting, the friends and the story. This takes you on a roller coaster ride of feelings. I dang near cried on the plane!

Need a good WWII love story…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today.

Margaret, Gladys, and Dottie are women supporting the war effort in 1945 in New York City. They work and write letters in support of their soldiers. When Margaret starts a writing exchange with her brothers' friend, the war becomes even more real for her.

I liked the different take on WWII- I liked hearing what the woman did while the men were away and how invested they were in the war. I found their situations interesting and enjoyed them finding their own independences and forming strong bonds with their friends. This book is a little like Jennifer Ryan's The Kitchen Front and a little Cyrano. It is lighter in tone that many WWII books I've read, and I liked the relationships at the core of this novel. It still portrayed the horrors of war without stressing me out so much.

Thank you to Netgalley for the advance readers copy.

Until We Meet is an outstanding book that fully captures the essence of war torn relationships. The characters each portray, in detailed expression, a different perspective of struggle, love, loss, and renewal.. The reader will in some way relate to each individual whether it be in a favorable manner or in one of disproval. We quickly learn, that nobody is impervious to the rawness associated with war. The author does an amazing job providing the opportunity to live within each character's head, while feeling their innermost heart wrenching emotions. I like that no judgement is passed on anyone's thoughts and actions. The characters do their honest best to live each day as it comes, dealing with what they have been handed. It is a story of hope as much as a story of grief and is sure to leave you thoughtful, and thankful.

Prepare yourself for a story you won't want to end and characters you will not soon forget. This will quite honestly be one of the best novels I will find myself reviewing this year.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion and review.

I’ve loved every novel I’ve read by Camille di Maio and her latest historical effort certainly measured up. The struggles of those at home and their friends and family away at war, tugs at the heartstrings and reminded me how fragile our lives are.
This well researched novel, begins in Brooklyn, with Margaret, Gladys and Dottie, joining the war effort in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, after saying good bye to John, Margaret’s brother and Dotties fiancé. They are soon waiting for John’s letters and hearing about his buddies, Tom and William. Letters go back and forth, all shared among the friends, as the women work to help the
war effort, and by knitting warm socks for the men heading for the front.
War is devastating for everyone, but the support at home is what gets those in combat through the tough days and nights.
Di Maio, as usual, develops wonderful warm characters that we all knew and loved while we were growing up. It’s so natural to sink into their lives, as though they once lived among us, celebrating their joys and mourning their losses.
This is a must read! Camille de Maio brings the strength of the women who helped build The Missouri and our brave soldiers that returned on that very ship, resulting in another five star novel!
My thanks to NetGalley, Hachette Book Group and Camille di Maio for the ARC.
All opinions are my own.

It is the end of December 2021 and I thought I had already read my favorite WWII, historical fiction, book. Then I read Camille Di Maio’s Until We Meet and I knew that this one is my most favorite. I loved the characters, the dual settings, and the era.

From the beginning of the book, I was pulled right in. I could picture the ladies’ sewing socks for the men fighting the war and sharing the gossip from their lives. I could see the men opening the care packages and sharing the news from home. Margaret slipped notes in the socks she knitted, and they made it straight to William. I loved the twist of Thomas’ part in the story and could not wait to see how that would all play out for them.

Until We Meet is the most perfect WWII era book. I loved how it was set both in the US, showing how the women were working men’s jobs and doing what they could do to support the men fighting overseas, and the overseas setting with the men who put their lives on the line with every single minute they spent fighting the war.

This was a wonderful story of camaraderie between three women during WWII and their struggles and triumphs as they navigate through uncertain times.

Working at the Navy Yard brings a sense of freedom to Margaret and her friends, Dottie and Gladys, as they not only receive a decent wage but are able help with the war effort as well. Margaret, however, is determined to do more to help and begins knitting socks for soldiers, including her brother (who happens to be Dottie’s fiancé). She also strikes up a friendship with her brother’s friend through letters sent between them, and soon she finds herself drawn to a man that she’s never met. But does she truly know the man behind the letters?

I really enjoyed this book and the overall sense of hope that surrounded the letters exchanged between these characters. I don’t want to give too much away, but even amidst the tragedy that befalls them, they still managed to push forward with the hope that one day they would meet each other. I also admired the friendship between the three women and the support they gave one another when life threw them curveballs. It truly was a heartwarming story and I highly recommend it!

Until we met, what a beautifully written novel. The story follows three women and three men during WW2. These characters are greatly written, even if there's six of them, you still will learn to know and cherish them all. If you're looking for a historical fiction, this one's it!
