Unfortunately, I did not finish this one i had to DNF hard. This was not for me. I wanted to DNF around the 15% mark but stuck it out of sheer curiosity. By the time I got to 50% I wasn’t invested in any of the characters they all sound the same and i was just bored about the story not caring a minimum about what happened to them. thank you for the opportunity but this books it was not for me at all
I initially DNF this book when I first received the copy because it did not pique my interest enough to keep me going. I was hoping this book to be on par with AGGTM but Holly Jackson raises the bar high for Pip as this book is nothing as such. I know, I hate comparing too, but it's really hard not to when you've got a taste of how a good YA mystery/thriller book should be.
There was a lot of build up but not much of a conclusion. The rest of the characters were pretty one-dimensional and the fact that my favorite character was the one in the coma should tell you some things about the rest of the cast.
I had a really great time reading this book! This mystery was so intriguing, and I just needed to know what was going to happen next! To go into a pretty dangerous situation, knowing that her sister was in a coma for doing about the same that she was about to undertake, the intrigue was high!
I will say, that it was a slight bit confusing. Since Chelsea Ichaso had The Dark Way Down last year, and then this book, and I got ARC's of both. They have a similar synopsis, and Goodreads has them as different editions of the same book. If there are any differences, I don't know, but I read the 2022 version.
One thing that I really liked was that Savannah was the older sister, and Piper younger. Most of the time, the perfect, more beloved child is the older one. So that was a different dynamic, and I enjoyed reading it!
Secrets is a big thing in this book, it's mentioned multiple times in the synopsis, and of course it's in the title.I just wanted to know what they were, and boy, there were some shocking reveals! Savannah had her secrets, but Piper did as well! Loved watching them all come out!
This was a fantastic read, and I can't wait to read Chelsea Ichaso's other book!
While the story was ok and I wanted to find out what happened to Piper, Savannah and the side characters and how it played out were simply not my cup of tea. I just found Savannah so cringy and felt that she didn't really care about Piper besides making herself feel better about the "accident".
Thank you Netgalley and SOURCEBOOKS Fire, Sourcebooks Fire for this opportunity. I usually not read many Ya but this cover took me. It.was a nice story, it keep me guessing all the time.
Unfortunately, I did not finish this one. I appreciate the opportunity to review this one but it did not work for me. Thank you to the author and publisher for my copy in exchange for a review.
I picked up this book because of its cover and because I love thrillers.
I had a fun time reading this book, I loved the fast pace and how intriguing the story was.
I received this and as an eARC to read for free in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Fire for giving me access.
I’ll start out by saying, this was not for me. I wanted to DNF around the 20% mark but stuck it out out of sheer curiosity. By the time I got to the end, I wasn’t invested in any of the characters. They all blended together and had your typical teenage drama twisted throughout.
What should have been a quick read, turned into two days of trudging through this story. Ichaso jumps between past and present so often that I had to go back just to make sure I was following along. I am all for these back and forth views but maybe use some page brakes or make it its own chapter.
Even the synopsis leads you astray by calling it a “hiking accident” when everyone assumes attempted suicide or foul play. Neither of those are accidents and one deserves a trigger warning for those that need it.
Overall, Dead Girls Can’t Tell Secrets was not a standout read. If you are looking for a psychological thriller, this is not it…but it might be better suited as a mystery.
This was a fun mystery and thriller. Every little piece of info seemed to lead in a different direction so it kept me guessing!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me to read a early readers copy in exchange for an honest review.
While this book was okay, there wasn’t anything special to it that would have me reread or recommend it to anyone else. I think the author could have done a much better job writing the twist for this thriller. The idea was there, but it didn’t flow naturally.
I am sorry for the inconvenience but I don’t have the time to read this anymore and have lost interest in the concept. I believe that it would benefit your book more if I did not skim your book and write a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience.
Thank you to NetGalley and SourceBooks for an e-galley of Dead Girls Can't Tell Secrets.
Savannah's sister was found at the bottom of a cliff, locally know as Suicide Point. While Piper is alive, she is in a coma and unable to answer why she was on a hike that day to begin with. Savannah decides to take it into her own hands to find out who wanted to hurt her sister. But will her sleuthing leave their parents mourning two children or one?
ooooooooo I loved it. it took me on a wild ride that I never wanted to end. it kept me guessing and I never saw the ending coming. 10/10 recommend.
I think that the premise to this book is really clever, but unfortunately the pacing and execution of this book fell a little flat for me. Weirdly I think this is one of those books that might do well as a movie adaptation because it might help give the story that extra push.
4.75. Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Fire I had the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
Let’s just say, this is a really good YA thriller. The mystery is something, the characters are flawed, you really don’t know who to trust, there are great plot twists and honestly, I almost screamed in class while reading it (don’t judge me, everyone read during their class). While I was reading it, it was hard for me to put it down, especially during the hike part, because I was like “holy shit” most of the time.
The main character is interesting, she has her strength, her flaws, and mostly she feels guilty. Also, feeling left out for your younger sibling? Yes, I get it, but I would never have done what she did. But I can understand her at some point.
If it’s not a 5 stars, it’s because I think something the characters' reactions were too many, and even if I put down the book for a few days, I was not desperate to know what’s going to happen next
But damn, this book is still a good one
ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.
I’m just getting through my backlogs of ARC’s and was finally able to get to this book. It’s a YA mystery about a girl names Savanah trying to figure out how and why her sister had an accident and fell off a cliff. The plot was intriguing enough but I felt I needed a little more of the characters backstories to really feel invested in them. I’m going to recommend this book to my 15 year old daughter as I think it’s right up her alley.
DEAD GIRLS CAN’T TELL SECRETS
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“Piper's fall was no accident. Did someone want her dead? It's up to her sister to discover the truth in this shocking new thriller with an unreliable narrator, from the acclaimed author of Little Creeping Things.”
For fans of Five Total Strangers by Natalie D. Richards, this YA Thriller NEEDS to be your next read. When I first opened this book back in November thanks to @netgalley and @sourcebooksfire, I was captivated from the first chapter.
Savannah isn’t the typical heroine I’m used to reading in Young Adult Thrillers. In fact? I wasn’t even sure I liked her at first. Every character in this story screamed at me in their own ways, throwing me off the course of trying to figure out… who did it???
I had a notebook by my side and was writing down things I thought could help me figure out this mystery. Every time I thought I’d figured it out, I was wrong. And I wanted to be wrong.
This book is the twisty, captivating book that will keep you up all night long wanting and needing answers.
The answer you get? It isn’t what you’ll expect, but I promise it’s worth it.
As a lover of all things YA and Thriller, this book can only be rated five stars for the loop it threw me through. I’m thoroughly impressed and extremely excited to see what work of art Chelsea presents next.

Unsatisfying read and lacked the tension that I was looking for in a thriller. Even then, I would have wanted the characters to be engrossing and relatable but it was personally had to care for them which I feel is important if you want a thriller to be engaging to its audience.
This book was okay. I found the ending to be very in satisfying. The story just fault rushed and it could have been so much better.
The mystery of this book was really intriguing to me. I read this really quickly because I wanted to find out what happened. I really disliked the characters, and they really didn’t have any redemption arc that was good enough for me to start liking them. This isn’t a book I’ll really remember, but I had fun at the time of reading it.
