I'm at loss of words. The book had a great premise, but it fell flat. It was very bland and mediocre. I didn't like the "going in circles to find who is the one responsible thing". Savannah is very stupid and thinks highly of herself. I'm sorry but when you suspect someone the most right thing to do is to find enough evidence to proof your point and to not run to the person and say "oh you are the one responsible for my sister's being in a coma" the minute you think you got something (most of the time she didn't).
The secondary characters were unlikeable. I couldn't see their dynamics or how they "operate" as friends. Some were acting "mysterious" with no explanation. I have to add that all their reasons for hiding the truth is selfish and very childish that it doesn't make sense.
I really wanted to like this book but i was disappointed. The plot did not suit the big final reveal. I'm aware that it is a Y/A novel and some may enjoy it as it is for its fast paced events and easy language, but i wish it was more polished.
i didn’t like it tbh I’m not sure I was the right audience for this book. i was so excited to read it but it turned out to be a childish type of YA I’m not in. a lot of plot points didn’t made sense to me and it felt like watching a cluedo board game party….

Wow! "Dead Girls Can't Tell Secrets" was a fantastic YA thriller book that captivated me from the beginning. The title, blurb, and cover all made me want to read it.
This book was full of drama, secrets, and teenage angst. I hated most of the characters because they were all terrible people, but I still wanted to find out the truth and was captivated enough to keep reading. I read the book in a handful of days because I didn't want to put it down.
I loved the plot twist at the end! It shocked me and answered most of my lingering questions, although I did want to see Savannah and Piper resolve their issues.

Thank you NetGalley for an e-Arc of this book. It took me a while to get to this book but I'm glad I finally did! I enjoyed the mystery aspect with all the twists and turns, many of which I didn't expect which is always important for thrillers. This was a quick reading and I finished it in mainly one sitting. The writing was simple and like some others have said, the dialogue sometimes felt a bit juvenile, but I am keeping in mind this is YA as well. I would say overall this was an average read, it wasn't bad but it didn't blow me away either. The ending felt a bit lacking as well.
So let me start by saying, I did not do a good job at reading the description for this book. I did not realize it was YA. I almost DNFed this book early on, but I'm glad I didn't.
Dead Girls Can't Tell Secrets is a story about a young girl, Piper, who has an accident, falls off a cliff, and ends up in a coma. Piper's sister, Savannah, doesn't think her fall was an accident and is determined to figure out the truth. Savannah soon finds out that there are many other people who think they are responsible for this "accident". They all work together to find out the truth.
This book gave me major "Pretty Little Liars" vibes. It was a quick read, and kept me turning the pages. There were a lot of twists that I didn't see coming. And oooof that ending.
The only thing I did not like about this book was that the dialogue seemed very juvenile.
Thank you so much to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for allowing me to read this book prior to it's release date in exchange for an honest review.
Savannah is trying to find out what really happened to her sister Piper the day she tried to kill herself jumping off a cliff. Could something Savannah did have pushed Piper over the edge (literally)?
Savannah joins the school's wilderness club after finding a suspicious note left in Piper's locker. She joins their weekend camping trip close to where Piper jumped to investigate- and everyone is a suspect.
A simple mystery that was a quick read. The characters all start a little unlikeable but there is some definite growth to be had by the end- which is a great quality in a YA novel. I really enjoyed the simplicity of this book. Another NetGalley read- to me reminiscent of some Karen M McManus.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with the arc in exchange for an honest review!

I was really interested in reading this as it sounded really good but the execution was mediocre. There was nothing really special about it ?It was fast-paced but really anticlimactic and was generally a little underwhelming. I did not care for any of the characters like I hardly knew anything about the main character and there was nothing that really wanted me to keep reading. I was also not a big fan of the writing it felt really plain and lacked something
It’s not a bad book or anything it just isn’t the best either 😅
This book sounded a lot like the work of Karen M. McManus and Chelsea Pitcher, which I do love, but only ever end up rating 3 stars, 4 at a push, which is what this book ended up being for me; 3 stars.
I love the concept of having an unreliable narrator telling the story and at the same time, trying to solve a mystery that nobody seems to know what happened with. It has to be hard when you can't trust a single person around you, as they seem to all have a motive to harm someone. The someone in this book being Piper Sullivan. She was in a hiking "accident". Accident being in quotes as her sister, Savannah, is adamant that someone had something to do with Piper's fall, and after finding an ominous note in Piper's locker, it only pushes Savannah to search more into the people in Piper's life.
A solid read all around, but I felt the ending/reveal could have been stronger, it kind of just happened, and I didn't realise that Savannah had lied to get there at first.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Fire for an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. I didn't expect much out of this one and haven't been having too much luck with the young adult genre recently but I found this to be a refreshing thriller entry into the genre. The premise got me interested and the story and characters kept me reading. This read at lightning pace and at no point did I want to put the book down (finish the last sixty percent in one day). This is my first book by Chelsea Ichaso but now I definitely want to go back and read her other novel. Her ability to keep me guessing until the very end is something that does not usually happen to me while reading young adult but I had no idea what the twist was going to be up until it was revealed. Everyone had secrets and everyone was a suspect. Another great aspect of this one was the setting. The majority of this book is set in the wilderness with a high school survival club and it was very refreshing. Recommend to anyone who loves thrillers, young adult, or otherwise.
So, the premise of this book was really interesting and instantly caught my attention (as well as the cover).
I wouldn’t say that it did disappoint me, but I feel like I was expecting more.
Still a nice read though.
The premise of this book is really exciting and promising, however the execution was a bit off - mediocre. It was quite nicely paced - didn’t feel like the action was happening too fast, always having some kind of twist, keeping me engaged - but at some point it just felt bland and underwhelming.
The Plot;
Dead Girls Cant Tell follows Savannah Sullivan as she tries to piece together what led her younger sister, Piper, falling off a cliff on a popular hiking route and ending in a come ever since. Piper has always been the younger golden child of her parents - the one who’s more intelligent, talented, likeable. So what happened? While everyone is convinced because of events that had happened that she tried to commit suicide
Savannah cant quite believe it. As she tries to put different clues together to unravel the events leading to Pipers accident she discovers that everyone around her is lying to some extent and has skeletons they want to keep in the closets.
What I liked
- The continuous twists in plot and suggestions of who the potential murder is kept me engaged
Criticism
- The story and characters felt pretty one dimensional
- The intrigue was nothing outstanding I wanted more of the sibling dynamics - Piper and Samantha - The writing was quite simple
I would still recommend this book to anyone who loves quick thrillers and teen mysteries, and if you're a beginner to thrillers or ones that involve camping, then you can try this one
Thank you to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Fire for the Digital Review Copy of this title.
It is widely believed that Piper Sullivan jumped or fell from a cliff. Dead Girls Can't Tell Secrets follows Savannah Sullivan as she tries to find answers about what really happened to her sister. She follows much of her sister's life prior to the cliff incident, including joining their school's survival club and going on the camping trip to the same place it all happened.
Unfortunately, I ended up DNFing this book, if you can call it that. I read the first 25% and realized that it wasn't really my thing. However, it is a mystery/thriller, so I skimmed through the remaining pages to piece together the mystery and get answers for myself. This only lead to learning that all my theories played out exactly how I thought they would. To me it was all very juvenile and predictable and cliche.
However, i did learn something about myself in reading what I did of this book. I learned that the use of an unreliable narrator isn't necessarily going to be my thing in books. However, if that is your thing, this just might be the book for you.
Dead Girls Can't Tell Secrets is a good YA mystery that was a fun and quick read. I enjoyed the cast of characters and felt that I got to know them well enough. Older sister Savannah wants to know what really happened to her younger sister Piper who is in a coma after a horrific fall from a cliff. Did she jump or did someone push her? Following the clues that keep turning up and befriending Piper's closest friends, Savannah is ready to get to the truth. Because her actions might have been a factor in her sister's condition. If you're a fan of YA and a good mystery, I think you'll enjoy this.
Captivating, twisty and addictive!
This was such a good book that i found myself wanted to just read it all the time and find out the answer to how piper was put in a coma.
This was fast paced and so much fun to read! The twists in this book did shock me and made me just want to read faster!
I loved how the characters were portrayed in this book and the ending was perfect. i’m hoping we can maybe get a novella from Piper or see the events from her perspective!
The only reason this is not 5 stars is because the start of the book was a bit slow but once i got a few pages in i was hooked.
Perfect for fans of One Of Us Is Lying and A Good Girls Guide to Murder ( i haven’t read this but i am recommending based of the synopsis)

If you enjoy basic YA mystery, that's easy to read without having to think much, definitely recommend this one! It was entertaining at least :)
There were many plot twists and turns in the novel that I enjoyed as I always love trying to figure out what is going on in a book and love when I am wrong and its tough to figure out, and this book will keep you guessing. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it.
Giving this a 3 star. It wasn't for me but I can see other people would enjoy it and it would be unfair of me to rate it less than this.

Piper's fall was no accident. Did someone want her dead? It's up to her sister to discover the truth in this shocking new thriller with an unreliable narrator, from the acclaimed author of Little Creeping Things.
Piper Sullivan was in a strange hiking accident last month and has been in a coma ever since. Her older sister, Savannah, can't pretend to be optimistic about it; things look bad. Piper will likely never wake up, and Savannah will never get any answers about what exactly happened.
But then Savannah finds a note in Piper's locker, inviting Piper to a meeting of their school's wilderness club...at the very place and on the very day that she fell. Which means there was a chance that Piper wasn't alone. Someone might've seen something. Worse, someone might've done something. But who would want to hurt the perfect Piper Sullivan...and why?
To discover the truth, Savannah joins the club on their weekend-long camping trip on the same mountain where her sister fell. But she better be careful; everyone in the club is a suspect, and everyone seems to be keeping secrets about that tragic day.
And Savannah? She's been keeping secrets, too..
Okay so I really enjoyed this books, it was a 4.5 stars for me. The writing in this flowed flawlessly and it was such fun easy read. I don't' read mystery thrillers that often anymore but this book made me realise how much I enjoyed reading them. The author wrote this books in a way that kept you captivated the whole time and you didn't get bored with the characters, I did get annoyed with the protagonist at times but thats with most novel you read. Highly recommend picking this books up and giving it a read.
I don't read a lot of mysteries, but this one piqued my interest. It's a solid mystery and it did have me second guessing who was the culprit, which is the goal. I wish there was more voice though. Especially at the beginning, it was difficult to keep the characters straight. The ending felt a tad rushed. But I did read it quickly, and I appreciated Savannah being messy and making all these objectively not good decisions.
A month after Piper ends up in a coma, her older sister, Savannah, discovers a note in Piper's locker that changes everything. Savannah suspects that there is more to Piper's accident than it appears. Through her investigations, she learns that everyone has secrets and nothing is as it seems.
This was a really good YA mystery. There were plenty of twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat and many of the characters were well developed. The wilderness setting made the story even more intriguing. The entire ending, not just the resolution of the mystery, was satisfying to me.
