Written brilliantly with courage and compassion, this is a devastatingly beautiful story about how not to let the worst thing(s) that have happened to you control (or destroy) your life. Within the pages of this heartbreaking memoir, author Michelle Hord shows her grief palpably, but through strength and resilience shows that it is possible to come through and out the other side, and to continue to live a life of beauty and strength. Hord's personal experience as a Black woman of faith gives a unique perspective on the grief memoir, one that I personally haven't been privy to before. Grief memoirs, in general, can be powerful sources of inspiration to us all and reading these stories from a variety of different voices adds to our own ability to develop empathy and even resilience ourselves.

I received an ARC of, The Other Side of Yet, by Michelle D. Hord. This was a good book on a sensitive topic. Losing her daughter to murder, the grief and mental anguish that follows. Learning how to live again, in a new reality.
