An exceptionally generous 2.5
Time doesn't make sense, the dialogue is terrible, and if you know anyone who behaves the way these characters do: Don't walk, run.

It was okay.
The story was a mishap. Word of jealousy is what it is on this sisters . They met and found their dad who has a secret motive for the both of them .
Keep promising to give them a house and help them but it wasn’t . A pretend one.
Not a very twisty thiller but just a kind of story what can a family can do.

All in all is a 3⭐️

"Dear Sister" by Ruth Harrow presents an intriguing premise that explores the complexities of sibling relationships. The story offers a mix of emotional highs and lows, drawing readers into the lives of the characters. The author's writing style is engaging, and the alternating perspectives provide insight into the sisters' thoughts and feelings. However, the pacing at times feels uneven, with certain parts dragging while others rush through important developments. The resolution, though satisfying, may leave some readers wishing for deeper exploration of certain themes.

Overall, "Dear Sister" is a decent read that captures the essence of sisterhood, but it falls short of fully realising its potential.

Not the best book I’ve ever read. It left me with more questions than answers. It was good in parts and had the makings of being a good book. It just needed a change in direction

Sadly I couldn´'t get into the book. After multiple tries starting over and this much time later I feel it's impossible to leave a review on any retailer.

This was a well written family drama that clearly shows you that the lines between love and despise where it comes to family, are sometimes very faintly drawn. Enjoyed it, will read more in future.

Dear Sister by Ruth Harrow

Dear Sister is a twisty thriller about two sisters, Rachel and Laura.

They grew up apart because their mother died and their father was not around.
So they aren't really super close.
Rachel is a teacher, she' single with no children while Laura is married with a daughter.

The drama begins as Laura hunts for and finds their father, and she wants a relationship with him. Rachel wants no part of it.

So many things happen in this book, it's wild.

Lots of unexpected things.

But the tension and drama are there.

I really enjoyed this book but had to suspend belief a few times.

I recommend this book to people who want a tension filled book which will keep them guessing and reading until the book is done.

Thank you NetGalley, the publisher and author for this book.

Dear Sister by Ruth Harrow is a domestic thriller about sisterhood. The story revolves around sisters, Rachel and Lucy, and is told in alternating chapters from their perspectives. When Laura initiates contact with their long-lost father, Rachel is skeptical. The two sisters have been basically alone for most of their lives, and she's satisfied with that. But her father enters their lives, secrets are unearthed that will bring the sisters' lives crashing down!

Here is a terrifying excerpt from the Prologue:

"My breath comes in ragged, painful bursts. My pursuer can't be far behind me. Somewhere in the darkness, they are drawing closer. My legs are weak from the lack of oxygen, and I collapse against the base of a tree and struggle for air.
I know I can't stumble much further. No one will come back here for me now.
It's too late."

Overall, Dear Sister is a domestic thriller with an exciting second half! During the first half, I felt that nothing exciting had happened. We get chapters alternating between Rachel and Lauren's perspectives, but they're going through their everyday lives. I get that some plots need time to set up, but I felt like I was reading a family drama more than a thriller. But then, in the second half, there are explosive reveals and action scenes. I am giving 4 stars for the second half alone. If you're intrigued by the excerpt above, or if you're a fan of thrillers in general, you can check out this book, which is available now!

“People change their minds after they have been out of a situation for a while. They might realize they made a mistake in leaving!”

What if everything she believed she knew turned out to be a lie? Rachel, a schoolteacher, will go to any length to protect Laura, her younger sister. Rachel is thrown into chaos when their long-lost father appears out of nowhere and makes a stunning charge against Laura’s husband. Rachel learns that everything she thought she knew was false when new evidence emerges. Is her sister’s entire existence a fabrication? And where did her tiny niece’s injuries come from? And who is it that keeps contacting her at all hours of the night? Rachel’s well-ordered world begins to crumble as their father gradually integrates himself into their lives. She doesn’t know who to trust — her father or her sister – since she is still grieving from the collapse of her marriage. One of them is lying, while the other is concealing a dreadful secret. Will Rachel be able to uncover the truth before it’s too late?

Dear Sister is a suspenseful psychological thriller with a shocking twist that will have readers turning pages late into the night. This novella moves along well. I wanted to scream at both of the major characters for being so silly at points! It was a simple and short read. I found myself being pushed forward. It is recounted from two points of view at the same time. The author did a fantastic job of weaving the story between the two sisters. This back-and-forth was entertaining, and each character was engaging and contributed something unique to the narrative. Neither character is very endearing, but nicely; you get the uneasy impression that they are both concealing something. You start second-guessing yourself and altering your mind about what’s going on.

Dear Sister was an enjoyable, short read that was deep and suspenseful. Ruth Harrow knows how to tell a gripping story. The tale itself isn’t all that horrible. There’s a lot of drama, a lot of taking things at face value, and a lot of wanting to be right because everyone else is. For many people, this is a regular life scenario. What I liked about it was that I couldn’t predict how it would finish, which always makes for a fun read! I’ve never read anything by this author before, but I plan to do so in the future. I found this book to be simple to read, engaging, and difficult to put down.

Dear Sister is full of tantalizing leads that make the reader wonder who is hiding something and who are really the persons they say they are.

Sisters Rachel and Laura are neighbors; Laura, with her husband Ash and their daughter Amy, live a life of secrets that little Amy has "promised not to tell." When Laura makes contact after many years with the father that abandoned her and Rachel to life of foster homes and instability, Rachel is instantly suspicious and wants nothing to do with him. But is her father really the man she thinks he is? Did her long deceased mother tell her the truth about the brutal man who now seems to want nothing but affection and forgiveness from his daughters? And when he makes an accusation against Laura's husband, can she believe him? Someone isn't being truthful, and any decision to trust the wrong person can end up hurting or even putting in danger those she loves.

An absorbing psychological thriller, Dear Sister ended on an intriguing and clever note, The only thing that led me to give this 3 stars rather than 4 is the too convenient arrival of a character at a fortuitous moment. However, the story kept me interested as I tried to figure out who could be trusted.

This is the story of two sisters, Laura and Rachel. They were brought up separately when their mother died after their father had left them earlier. Rachel is the older sister and has always looked out for Laura. Rachel is a teacher who was in a relationship with Paul, a fellow teacher, but was devastated when he left her. Laura is married to Ash and they have a young daughter Amy. When Laura invites Rachel over for dinner she has a surprise for her. She has been in touch with their estranged father, Peter, and she has invited him over for dinner. Rachel is far from happy with this as she doesn’t trust him as she can remember what her mother told her about him and how he had treated her. Peter begins to be part of their lives, telling them about all the property he owns and starts buying expensive gifts for Laura and Amy. When he starts making accusations about Ash to Rachel she is thrown into turmoil. Who can she trust? The book is told from Rachel and Laura’s points of view and is full of shocking revelations and has an unexpected ending. An enjoyable read.

Dear Sister is a fast paced psychological thriller told from the perspectives of Rachel and Laura. Their childhood was difficult growing up in separate foster homes, due to the death of their mother and abandonment of their father. When the sisters and father are reunited, a gradual, though rocky relationship begins to form. Unanswered questions surface and lies and truth are hard to determine. Who is telling the truth in this twisted tale of deceit and betrayal? Thank you NetGalley and Inkubator Books for my copy.

'Dear Sister' follows two sisters, Rachel and Laura, who were separated as children in the wake of tragedy but still managed to stay connected despite the distance. Years later, they're closer than ever, but when their dad returns to their lives, will his presence only push them apart? This was a quick read that I had a difficult time putting down. I really liked the author switching between Rachel and Laura's viewpoints throughout the story because it showed just how different they really were.

Years later after the girls reconnect, Laura finds her father through social media. She is eager to make amends but Rachel is not so trusting as their lives slowly begins to unravel .
I was intrigued with this book right from the start it was full of many twists and turns throughout the story.

Rachel and Laura did not have an easy life growing up. Their mother died when they were young, and their father disappeared. After years, of growing up in foster care, they are still watching out for each other as adults. The balance is shaken again when their father returns to their lives. Laura wants to believe all their father has to offer, but Rachel is unsure. They all have secrets. It's just a matter of sorting out the past to find the truth. This was a good strong mystery, but tended to get a little long in the middle. However, the reader is rewarded with a satisfying ending.
