The Other Husband - Kathryn Croft.
Two couples; Abby and Rob, and Sienna and Greg, have become the best of friends. One night they sit down and unbeknownst to them its their last dinner together. The friends agree to swap the husbands for the night as an experiment but a few days later one of the husbands; Greg, unexpectedly goes missing. Is his disappearance linked to his marriage or was it related to spending the night with Abby?
I'm going to keep my review very short only because this is one book where you can't say too many things.
I was rather fond of Abby and Rob, they seemed down to earth, and the type of people you would want to invite over for dinner and drinks. Whereas Sienna and Greg, for me I felt they were superficial, not themselves. I felt I couldn't trust them as far as I could throw them.
And, wow I didn't see the plot twists coming in this story. I was even wrong with what I thought had happened. Don't you just love when authors write in a way where the meaning could mean different things. After years of reading thrillers, you would think I would get used to it now.
Thank you Netgalley and Canelo for the gifting of The Other Husband for me read and review this book.
Thanks to Netgalley and Canelo for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Avery enjoyable read although a little repetitive in places. Recommended
Abby and Rob have moved to London for his job and now live in a large home. Abby has always worked in school administrative and is looking for a job in that area with no luck. She has been spending her time trying to get settled into her new home.
Abby meets Sienna at a Pilates class. Sienna is married to Greg, a surgeon, and wants to open her own interior design business. Abby and Sienna strike up a friendship and Sienna will help her with fixing up her home.
Finally, the wives and husbands meet and all of them seem to get along. One night after too much alcohol, the wives decide to have their husband go to the other wife’s home and spend the night. It’s just platonic and the plan is that they are to sleep in separate rooms. Not long after, something devastating happens that tears all of them apart.
Sometimes, a convuluted story can be compelling, but in the case of this book, it only made me more confused and not in a good way. The story drags and drags and there are lots of red herrings thrown into the mix. I thought it would never end so I could find out what happened. Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy the book that much due to these factors, but I hope other readers will.

Abby and Rob have become good friends with Sienna and Greg; but one night of alcohol and a strange request sets motions rolling, trust broken and accusations flying.
But, do we really know our friends and can we truly trust them?
An extremely well-thought-out plot with several red herrings which will leave you questioning everyone!!!
This is a novel I could not put down and didn't want to and my review will not do this book justice.
Croft left me changing my suspects several times and when I thought I got it right, I got it totally wrong!
Each character was unique and had their own secrets which gave this narrative depth; my mind is spinning from it now.
An absolute must-read!!
I would like to thank Canelo and Net Galley for the ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
The Other Husband is a psychological thriller. It made me think ( in a good way) of Gone Girl , although the plots were quite dissimilar. Then 4 main characters are 2 couples- Sienna and Greg, and Abby and Rob. Sienna and Abby meet at a pilates class, become friends and then all 4 become friends. At a dinner one night, Sienna makes a bold suggestion, for the "other" husbands to go home with the wives , just for one night. No sex, no involvement, just to see how they live . Everything changes after this night. We do not get all of the information at once. It comes in dribbles, and each bit of information changes how we feel about the characters. All we know is that Greg disappears soon after the dinner.Sienna is Greg's second wife, he has an ex wife- Holly, and a son Jackson. Rob has parents who do not like Abby. Abby has a friend named Mel. We learn things slowly, and incompletely. It is slow paced, and methodical in its plotting. The characters are multi layered and not always likeable. It makes you think about the information, and everything you have learned about the people. It was good, for me , some of the plot twists were a little out there, and some of the happenings a bit contrived, but on the whole it was well written and enjoyable.
The Other Husband by Kathryn Croft is the newest psychological thriller in Croft's line of novels. Abby and Sienna are close friends. They and their husbands have dinner one night and decide on the spur of the moment to swap husbands for the evening. This decision leads to events that drastically alter all of their lives. Plenty of twists and turns keep this book moving rapidly along. Read and enjoy!
An interesting take on the "What If" question. Two couples have a bit too much to drink at dinner and make a disastrous decision. A fascinating take and very readable!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Canelo for this ARC!
One Dinner Party, One Crazy Idea then a terrible nightmare.
Plot:- Abby and Rob are happily married. Sienna and Greg seemed to be having some trouble in marriage. Abby and Sienna meets in a pilates class, and then gets invited to a dinner party, where Sienna suggesting swapping husbands for one night--Abby with Greg, Sienna with Rob. Something happens between Abby and Greg that Abby is afraid of her husband and Sienna finding out. Then one day Greg goes missing.
Writing:- The story is told from the perspectives of Abby and Sienna. We know Abby is hiding something but as a reader, you are curious--what is she really hiding? Sienna believes Abby is having an affair with Greg and accuses Abby. Is Sienna right? This fast paced thriller will put you as a reader at the edge and I was so determined to find out what Abby's secret was--there were some twists and turns along the way. However, at the end, we do find what Abby's secret was but I wasn't really satisfied much with the ending. The writing was good however and the author did a good job drawing the reader into the story, feeling like they are also a part of the story.
Character:- Sienna and Abby are OK characters to me--I feel Abby is naive and Sienna is a bit too over the top.
Overall:-It was a fast paced thriller with twists and turns you wouldn't expect--worth four stars!
Many thanks to Netgalley and Canelo for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read The Other Husband. The blurb caught my eye as I enjoy a good, twisty, dark psychological thriller but this one started out strong but I quickly lost interest. I got to about 40% and found that I didn’t really care to finish. Like others have said , there was a lot going on and at times was repetitive and draggy. Others have loved the book, though.
The other husband by Katheryn Croft.
One dinner party will destroy everything.
The night that throws a wrecking ball into Abby’s life starts out perfectly at first. There’s still a hint of summer sun in the purple-streaked sky. Abby and her best friend, Sienna, look on fondly as their two husbands laugh under the garden gazebo. None of them know it’s the last time they will be together again.
What starts out as just a little fun, has devastating consequences for the couples. Alone with Sienna’s husband, Greg, Abby finds him unexpectedly charming. And something happens that night that neither she nor Greg can take back.
Abby is desperate to tell her husband and Sienna the truth, but can’t risk Greg sharing what he knows about her. She has no choice but to keep quiet. Then Greg suddenly disappears.
Is her best friend’s husband simply running from his secrets? Or has someone decided they can’t risk that he may share theirs?
A very good read with good characters. Likeable story. 4*.
Slow moving and plot is complicated though this is not a criticism because the book kept my interest throughout. Two couples become friends and after a dinner party agree to swap partners for one night this results in secrets being shared and cracks in the relationships opening up. Lots of jumping to conclusions by different people. Things go from bad to worse when one of the husbands is found murdered. Seen only by the two female friends'point of view, there are different explanations and suspicions about who the murderer is and why. The tempo of the book picks up at this stage and there are a couple of twists in the story .
Both the main characters are complicated characters,in some ways likeable but in some ways a closed book and prone to making decisions on flimsy evidence. The investigation seems a bit haphazard, which is my main criticism of this book, but saying that , this is not the main focus of the book.
Thank you to Net Galley and Canelo for the ARC in exchange for an honest review
A bit repetitive in places but still a good thriller centered around a dinner party with neighbours, with twists and turns I dudn’t see coming, overall an enjoyable read

I was really looking forward to reading this novel but, unfortunately I just didn’t like it very much and only got 25% through it before I gave up. Such a shame I was hoping for better. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
I’d like to thank Canelo and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘The Other Husband’ by Kathryn Croft in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
On a warm summer’s evening Sienna and her husband organise a dinner party and invite Sienna’s new friend Abby and her husband Rob. The wine flows, too much is drunk, when Sienna suggests they swap partners for the night. She doesn’t expect Abby and Rob to agree but they do but relationships between couples and friends will never be the same again.
The first chapters of ‘The Other Husband’ set the pace of the story giving background to the characters to be able to delve into their thoughts and innermost feelings. This is a thriller that’s had me involved from page one and although it slowed down somewhat towards the middle I kept reading in the hope it would move a bit faster. The plot doesn’t disappoint however as the tension goes up a gear and with suspense, drama and masses of twists and turns it reaches a super-exciting conclusion that’s not at all what I was expecting and came as a great surprise. I’ve enjoyed this thriller and having read several of Ms Croft’s previous novels this one hasn’t disappointed.
I really like what Kathryn Croft has done with this novel! To me it feels like a beautiful marriage of 'whodunnit' with a cracking work of psychological fiction,.... Don't t even get me started on those awesome plot twists!!
Abby and Sienna meet and become friends at a yoga class, quickly they form a foursome doing drink / dinner parties with respective spouses Rob and Greg. In an impulsive move, Sienna suggests a wife swap type scenario with devastating consequences - suffice to say not everyone comes out alive!!king work of psychological fiction,.... Don't t even get me started on those awesome plot twists!!
No-one on this novel is above suspicion, and this utterly adds to the intrigue - we really are kept guessing until the end!
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book, and have no hesitation in rating it with 5 thoroughly entertaining stars.
My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.
The blurb for this book sounded really good and I was really looking forward to to reading it, however it just didn’t hit the mark for me and I struggled through it. Unfortunately I found the story dragged along and there was too much going on that I didn’t really care about . I have read this authors previous books and really enjoyed them but sadly this time it just wasn’t for me.
Wanted to give feedback but this was archived, same day you approved me to review it. I emailed marketing to let them know. We wanted to include it on our book list
although I haven't read a Kathryn Croft for a long time this felt very familiar in a good way , you know that you are going to read a complex story from multiple points of view , you know everyone will be a suspect at some point , some more than once , the final reveal a big unexpected shock . It was a really good read for me and i raced through it quickly which is always a good sign . Abby meets Sienna at an exercise class and they become firm friends quickly through this there husbands are introduced and they spend a lot of time together . After a dinner party Sienna's husband Greg goes missing , Sienna can't help feel that something happened between him and Abby . They all have secrets they are hiding and as the story goes on these secrets are brought to light and nothing will be the same for any of them .Really fast paced and entertaining would highly recommend
I was gripped by The Other Husband immediately. It was a complete page turner that I could not put down. It had enough twists and turns to keep it addictive and it had an ending I did not see coming.
Thank you to NetGalley and Canelo for my ARC.
Kathryn Croft’s The Other Husband is the story of friends Abby and Sienna. Appearances aren’t always what they seem and one action will have dire consequences for those involved. This well-written book full of secrets will have you guessing until the end.
