It was a good read although found it slightly disappointing compared to other similar books I have read recently. The story dragged out in parts and maybe had too much going on that it lost its way, feeling cluttered.
I wanted to enjoy this book more but I found the back and forth between Abby and Siena to be repetitive and got to a point of boring and I just wanted it to end.
Disclosure: Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review.
It wasn’t as good as some of her other books but still enjoyed it. One night Sienna and Abby swap husbands for the night just for fun but it did have deadly consequences and didn’t go according to plan.
Sienna and Abby met at Pilates class and were very close friends but after that night nothing was ever the same again. The twist at the end was excellent.
I want to thank Netgalley and the publisher for an early copy .
Relationships evolve, but in this story the evolution doesn’t quite work the way they planned. After a swap, revelations are made that keep the reader guessing. Twists and turns abound to keep you reading and guessing.
I loved this book, very gripping and book I didn't want to put down. It was great to see how the suspicion went from one character to the next.
My Review:
The first word that comes to my mind after I read this book was OMG!!!!! I really loved and enjoyed this book so much. I was so exciting to see that this author wrote another book as it’s been years since her last one came out. I was jumping up and down with joy when I found out. I have loved this author’s previous books and this one sure did not disappoint. I loved how the book first started out with two couples swapping partners for the evening to see what it would be like. It reminded me of that tv show Wife Swap but what came after was where the book really got interesting. One of the husbands went missing right after the swap and was no where to be found. No one in this book was to be trusted after that. Everyone had something to hide. Each secret did eventually come out and revealed that shocker of an ending. I was like WOW is this really happening. I had no clue that this book would take a twisted turn like that but I loved it. Kudos to Kathryn Croft as you really surprised me with that ending. I hope I don’t have to wait years for your next book to come out. Until then I will be waiting patiently with the doors closed and my secrets close to my heart.
Lastly, the characters, plot, and the ending of this book made this an easy and fast read. I would definitely recommend this book and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have devoured the previous seven thrillers written by Kathryn Croft and was therefore highly delighted when the publishers and NetGalley granted me a free ARC in exchange for the unbiased review that now follows. As on the previous occasions when I have settled down with one of her books, Kathryn Croft really delivers. In this novel, Croft introduces us to friends Abby and Sienna who hatch a plan to swap husbands for one night. But Abby finds the consequences of this night wreck her life from then on, as Sienna’s husband Greg now proceeds to blackmail her. When he suddenly disappears, we are left to wonder whether it was out of his own volition or whether Abby is somehow implicated. With its tightly controlled, imaginative plot and sharp psychological insights, The Other Husband stands shoulders above other thrillers crowding the same genre. Highly recommended and guaranteed to induce sleepless night, this is a novel not to be missed.
Bored of their daily routine and loosened up by wine, Abby finds herself going along with Sienna's plan for their husbands to swap homes for the night. But what starts out as just a little fun, has devastating consequences for all four of them. Alone with Sienna's husband, Greg, Abbey finds him unexpectedly charming. Inviting, even. And something happens that night neither she or Greg can take back.
Sienna and Abby met at a pilates class. Abby and Rob have just moved to Winchmore Hill.Sienna is married to Greg. Greg has been married before and has a son with his first wife. They all quickly become friends. But one night after a dinner party, they make a decision that will change their friendship forever.
Two couples are unhappy in their marriages but they're also reluctant to tell their spouses how they feel. This is a gripping thriller with a fast pace and it will keep you turning the pages until you reach the end. The plotline is intriguing but I did feel the story dragged out in parts. This is a well written story with lots of twist and turns.
I would like to thank #NetGalley #Canelo and the author #KathrynCroft for my ARC of #TheOtherHusband in exchange for an honest review.
What a great read. The storyline was a terrific one and I honestly had no idea as to which way the story was heading in the end. Was a surprise ending for me and when you can’t guess the ending, well that is a very well written book.
Thankyou. I loved this one. Highly recommended
I am a regular reader of author Kathryn Croft’s novels finding them fast paced and addictive, but I found this one a little disappointing. It was still a good read but for me didn’t hit the high standards of many of the other books.
Abby ad husband Rob spend an evening with best friend Sienna and her husband Greg not realising that their lives are about to change. With the alcohol flowing the couples laughingly agree to swap partners for the night. What starts out as just a little fun, has devastating consequences for the couples. Abby discovers that Sienna’s husband, Greg is unexpectedly charming. And something happens that night that neither she nor Greg can take back.
Abby wants to tell Rob and Sienna the truth but can’t risk Greg sharing what he knows about her. She has no choice but to keep quiet. When Greg suddenly disappears. it questions whether he is running away from his secrets or has someone decided they can’t risk that he may share theirs?
There was plenty of the authors magic in the book but it failed to fully connect with me. Fast paced and interesting as always but a little too twisty for my tastes.
I would like to thank both Net Galley and Canelo for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
This was absolutely fantastic a real page turner. I thought I had worked it out and then it wasn't.
It was so good and I had to read this in one session.
Thanks to netgalley and the publishers for the advance copy but the review is entirely my own.
The story hinges around a couple moving into a new area and having another couple over to dinner to foster a new friendship. At the dinner party they make a really odd deal / bet, which I’m still not sure I buy into and then their respective lives start to unravel from there on in.
There are a lot of revelations as you progress through the story and it takes several different turns along the way, some of which are surprising but the overall effect is that this feels a bit messy and undecided in places.
There are a lot of themes of trust and questioning of relationships involved, which I felt a bit sad and negative for relationships which were so new.
Overall an interesting enough read with some good twists and turns and worth a go.
Thank you Canelo for this advance ebook copy!
The Other Husband by Croft is simply the best thriller|mystery she's written to date!
I loved the writing style. I loved the characters and I really enjoyed reading it.
Her writing was great and packed a punch! I was.hanging onto every word she was saying!
Her characters are something else! You won't know which way to go!
Abby her life her perfect until everything isn't so perfect anymore!
Sienna and become friends and everything is going smoothly until her husband goes missing!
What happened to Greg..... Sienna's husband?.
You will find out in this wild book that nothing is what is seems here!
And honestly that is what makes this a great mystery!
This is why I love a good mystery thriller because you may think you have shit figured out!
But in all honesty we don't know nothing here!
Pick this book up!
Thank you NetGalley, Publisher and Author for this great story!
I will post to my platforms closer to pub date!
This one was a strange one for me and not up to the standard of Crofts other books that I've read, it felt lengthy and repetitive and could have reached it's conclusion a lot sooner than it did.
I have read many books from this author but I think this one is her best yet, an absolute edge of seater, fast paced and a brilliantly addictive thriller of a ride, a definite 'knicker gripper' for me.
I can definitely recommend this book and thank you to Netgalley and Canelo Publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this great book.
Abby and Rob have recently moved to London into a lovely new home. To start a new chapter in their lives. Abby is currently unemployed, after leaving her last job at a local Primary school as an assistant deputy head which she loved. But, now finding it hard to find a new position. To fill her time, she signs up for a Pilates class but when she gets there the class is cancelled. But she meets a woman call Sienna and form a friendship.
The couple decide to meet up for dinner, were they both decide as an experiment to ‘swap’ husbands for the night. But this decision causes disastrous consequences for all involved.
Thank you, Canelo and the author, for a copy of the other husband. I have read many of Kathryn Crofts work so I was looking forward to reading this. This is another gripping thriller from the author and had a lot of twists and turns going on, but I personally thought a bit too much. That hindered the storyline slightly and left some unanswered questions at the end. 3.5 stars from me.
Edge-of-the-seat suspense about the developing friendship between two young urban couples, clever plot whose twists are zig-zagging throughout and will keep you guessing to the shocking end! Thank you Netgalley and publisher Canelo for letting me read an early copy in return for my honest opinion.
Thank you Canelo and Net Galley for an early copy of The Other Husband. I honestly cannot figure out why it was titled this, what am I missing? The plot was a good one and it started out so thrilling BUT THEN WHAT HAPPENED?? What a shame because it had such potential. I hate writing a review when a novel is not good but I’m sorry this one didn’t do it for me.
Abby and Rob have just moved into their perfect new house in London, ready to start a new chapter in their lives together. She still needs to find a new job here, sure, but she's got plenty to keep her occupied in the meantime.
Life is good.
And it looks like it's going to get even better when she meets Sienna, her first real friend here, and her charming husband Greg. But Greg is almost too charming, and one fateful night alone together leaves them with the fallout of a mistake they can't take back. Abby is desperate to talk to Sienna about what happened, but she can't risk spilling secrets when Greg knows some of her own.
So when he goes missing, there are bigger problems. Is he going to tell? Has he run away from his life? Or is something even more sinister happening just out of sight?
"How do we know who we really are until we're pushed to the limit?"
The Other Husband is a devilishly deceptive thriller full of shocking twists and turns. Told from Abby and Sienna's perspective, we're kept guessing until the very end about what happened to Greg and that one night that everything changed. Keeping the reader fully in the dark until the last possible moment, Croft threw us curveballs at every change, leading us on with false starts and red herrings until our head spins almost off.
Each couple was well crafted - and not at all what they might seem. Sienna and Greg seem like a strong, successful couple - but their relationship is strained, Sienna is desperate for passion and excitement, and Greg is hiding something massive. Abby and Rob seem like an adorable newly married couple - but they both know they're just one secret away from total collapse.
I've read quite a few of Crofts books in the past and enjoyed them all - I read The Other Husband in one sitting, but despite the tension and twists I never fully connected with the characters past their key defining traits which made it a little hard to get fully submerged in the story. Were there too many twists? That's down to you, reader. While overall brilliantly thought-out, there wasn't much time to craft a thought about one shock revelation before the next one changed the narrative again when I was feeling satisfied with how everything had unravelled.
A captivating story about friendship, jealousy and obsession - this wasn't explosive but a slow-burning fire that smoulders in the background but could still burn down your house.
This was my first read by Katheyn Croft and it did not disappoint.
The story follows Abby and her new friend Sienna as they navigate Abbys new life in London and their blossoming friendship until Sienna's husband Greg suddenly goes missing and everyones secrets start to come out.
Where is Greg? Who knows more than they are letting on?
The ending totally shocked me, fantastic twist!
Wow, I loved it!! Its a concept I've never come across before so that was nice to find a new and original story. It was really well written and just easy to read. It keeps you guessing and to say it has a few twists would be an understatement. A fun wee read for a rainy afternoon
