Amy and William have just gotten married and have just begun their celebratory brunch with family and friends when a guest suddenly dies. Of course it’s murder! Amy’s cousin Alice has been poisoned! If Amy and William want to get to their honeymoon, they need to find the culprit. This is a very enjoyable historical cozy mystery series and Amy and William are great amateur sleuths!

I love a good cozy mystery! One that incorporates all of my favorite topics (i.e. genealogy, bookstores, libraries, cooking, painting, inn keeping, animals, etc.), throwing in some action-suspense, a who-done-it, interesting characters, and a plot that keeps me guessing, then you’ve got me hooked. I will say, I am one of those people who like to read a series from the beginning, but I often find you don’t have to… either way I highly recommend reading The Mystery of Albert E. Finch by Callie Hutton.

Lady Amy & Lord William are set to be married. The couple met at their book club and the big day has arrived. The wedding was fine, but death at the wedding breakfast ruined the celebration and the honeymoon. Since they aren’t allowed to go on the honeymoon while the investigation goes on, their only choice is to solve the murder so they be can celebrate their marriage.

A adore this series. I love Lady Amy and all of her quirks and the partnership of she and William.

Although the nature of their adventures are somber, their shenanigans are hilarious.

This is the perfect pairing of suspense and humor and I highly recommend this series for the quirky fans of mystery.

I have the stories on audio and they are perfect.

I didn't really like this book very much. I was hoping for something different. It just never felt like it really went anywhere.

Looks like being married won't end the fun banter between Lord Willian and his new wife, Lady Amy (aka mystery writer E. D. Burton). The book begins with their nuptials, but the honeymoon becomes instantly delayed when Amy's cousin keels over dead during the wedding breakfast. Her twin immediately accuses the husband, Albert E. Finch and the family begins a lockdown of sorts while the local police investigate. There was more than one mystery to unravel, but Amy and William stay ahead of the police as usual.

This is the third book in the Victorian Book Club mysteries, and all have been a pleasure to read. Our protagonists are intelligent-they are best friends, and truly support each other. It makes their mystery solving one that is enjoyable to participate in.

William and Amy met at the book club and have fallen in love and are getting married. However, things get off to a bad start when Amy's cousin unexpectedly dies at the wedding breakfast. When the coroner confirms she was poisoned, all the wedding guests are forced to stay at Amy's great aunt's home and William and Amy can't go on their honeymoon trip. Knowing the detectives from past incidents, they decide they need to get involved if they ever want to enjoy their honeymoon.

What follows are many twists and turns (what else would there be in a good mystery) the unveiling of secrets, another murder and a solving of the murders with a resolution that I did not see coming.
i received an ARC from the publisher but the opinion expressed is my own,

This was the first one in this series that I read but I really enjoyed it. I wasn't sure how I would feel about a book set in this time period. However, once I started it, I didn't want to put it down.

I loved the time period, the characters and the descriptions of life in the manor. Mystery was well done and I really enjoyed the characters.

This is the 3rd installment of the Victorian Bookclub Mystery series. Lady Amy Lovell is marrying Lord William Wethington and after their ceremony and they are at their wedding breakfast when Amy’s cousin Alice dies. Her husband Albert was sitting right next to her and he becomes the prime suspect. Lady Amy and Lord William cannot leave for their honeymoon and are at the mercy of the detectives Carson and Marsh who seem to be good at looking at the most obvious answer and failing to investigate. Albert is arrested and Amy and William are not convinced he did the deed. They agree with her cousin’s twin Annabelle that Albert has been a horrible husband but is he a murderer? Lord William hires the barrister that helped both Amy and William in their last issues with the detectives and he gets Albert released until his trial, unfortunately he has been released into Lord Wethington’s custody and Amy’s Father, Aunt and brother Michael are forced out of their townhouse for repairs and all are under the same roof. This is difficult for everyone and Albert does not leave his room until he is found one day dead in his bed of an apparent poisoning just like his wife. There are other surprises in store for everyone along the way to solving these two murders. This was a griping mystery with lots of twists and turns. This is such an enjoyable series and there was lots more family involved as Amy’s Father and Brother are planning on moving to Bath. An exiting twist at the end that will prove to be interesting in the next book. Can’t wait for the next in this series.

Lady Amy and Lord William are preparing for their nuptials being hosted by Amy's great-aunt, Lady Priscilla Granville. Prior to the big event, guests Alice and Albert Finch have a heated disagreement and at the wedding breakfast Alice drops dead in her breakfast. Needless to say this is not how Amy and William expected to start their married life especially when all the guests are detained (including the bride and groom) and the sleeping arrangements are not conducive to a honeymoon. Amy and William are determined to salvage some of their honeymoon trip but are instructed that they cannot live town, so when they can leave Lady Granville's manor house, they head to their own home. However, things are still not going their way because Lady Granville develops a leaky roof and all her guests are now residing with the newlyweds.

This was so fun trying to solve the murder and at the same time deal with their relatives and lack of privacy.

Neither Amy nor her husband William could figure this puzzle out, and the detectives were as inept as ever. Imagine having Amy, William, and the detectives going around in circles. They were clueless, stumped as to the identity of the killer. Amy and William finally met their match. It was an entertaining, captivating, and intriguing puzzler.

RATING: 3.5 STARS
2022; Crooked Lane Books

I love that William and Amy are married by book three, no unneeded tension. It is also the Victorian age so it makes sense. No sleuths can get married and not have a murder at the wedding. In this case, it is Amy's cousin, Alice and the suspect is Alice's husband Albert. If William and Amy want to go on their honeymoon, they have to first solve the murder. I am liking this series, and am sad it will be another year for the next book.

Set in Bath, England in 1892 this is the 3rd book in the Victorian Book Blub Mystery Series. I really loved this book and it's a welcome addition to a series I already adore. The characters are quirky and well defined. The plot had plenty of twists to keep the reader entertained. I also enjoyed Lady Amy's family, they were a hoot.

This is the third in the series and what a wonderful read. The characters are so well written with a great depth of personality. The storyline kept you turning the page and trying to guess “ who done it” but with all the twists and turns you had no time to get bored. I love the detectives in this series and the mystery of the missing pets, they added a nice touch of humour. Even though this couple is just married, there was no sex in this book although it is alluded to which made it a joy to read for this reviewer. A lovely cozy mystery you will find hard to put down.

Another excellent installment in this series. This has become a must read series for me from the humorous moments to the high caliber mysteries. The story kept me interested throughout and kept me guessing, there were several surprises and the ending was perfect. Looking forward to the next adventure!

The Mystery of Albert E. Finch is the third book in the Victorian Book Club Mystery Series by Callie Hutton and I gave it four stars.

I really enjoyed this book but I think the mystery was less interesting this time around. I felt like Lady Amy and Lord William investigated more in the two previous books. However, this book still had me surprised by the end and I could not figure out who had done it.

This book, like the previous ones, also had many humorous moments that made me smile a little bit extra. The chaos when Lady Amy's family and pets moving in with her and Lord William was something I liked to read about.

I am still a fan of this series and can't wait for book number four!

The Mystery of Albert E. Finch is the third book in the Victorian Book Club Mystery Series by Callie Hutton following on from "The Sign of Death". Lady Amy Lovell, a mystery author, becomes embroiled in a mystery at her wedding.

Set in Bath, England in 1892, this was an entertaining yarn with a host of quirky characters. Along the way, Lady Amy and Lord William play hosts to wedding guests including Aunt Margaret's chatty parrot named Othello and you will be cheering the couple on to identify the culprit as they compete with the police. Will they get to go to Brighton for their honeymoon? The mystery itself is well-thought-out and there are a good number of suspects. Lady Amy is intelligent and smart and the soupçons of romance are enjoyable to read. Now I need to catch up on book one, "A Study in Murder".
