What a heart warming book! As a teacher of all girls, it’s so lovely to see a book showing girls that they can achieve anything they want. Noah and her daddy, go on an adventure together where she is has the opportunity to do anything she likes. When things get tricky, her dad is her biggest supporter and show her she doesn’t need saving but is enough herself! The illustrations are just as gorgeous as the message in the book, I will be buying this for our reception class as they love a rhyming book!
I thought that this was an lovely book to read!
The illustrations and images chosen were great and I loved how they brought the story to life
I loved the focus on the power of imagination
The book was well written and it was an easy story to read too.
It is 4 stars from me for this one – highly recommended!
HERE’S TO YOUR DREAMS by Dave Hollis has me torn. On the surface, the story is a heartwarming one of a father and daughter spending the day together and overcoming challenges on their adventure. The rhyming utilized is great. The illustrations are beautiful and fun. The story showcases the need for persistence and finding your own answers. However, my personal belief system makes it hard for me to support the author and the publisher. The author is basically a Christian influencer and Thomas Nelson is a Christian publisher, which makes it hard for me to advocate for their books. But there is nothing explicitly Christian or God-driven in this picture book. If you read it at face value and don’t go looking into Dave Hollis, this is a wonderful book to enjoy with the child(ren) in your life. If you are opposed to what Hollis and Thomas Nelson stand for, be warned.
While I never had doubts about Dave's writing abilities, I had no idea what to expect when he announced his plans to write a picture book. Now that I've read it all I can say is wow, he really has outdone himself with this one!
Before even diving into the words of this story the artwork captures your attention. It is charming, sweet, and beautifully done. The book kicks off nicely with a rhyming pattern that carries on throughout the entirety of the book. Personally, I love this! Rhyming is a great way to make help the story flow and keep young readers engaged. Overall the story was longer than I expected, but I do not feel like it was too much or would cause readers to lose interest.
As for the plot, this did not disappoint either. I loved how tea time not only takes Noah and her daddy on a thrilling adventure, but it inspires her as well. It is clear to readers there is no limit to their imagination.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and Net Galley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this wonderful book!
This is a beautiful book about adventures children can have during a simple 'tea time' with their parents, or a day at the beach. It documents the limitlessness of the imagination and how important it is not to give up on our dreams. I loved the colours and pictures in the book - they really reminded me of a Pixar movie. The rhyming words in the storyline made it very fun to read, especially to read aloud to a group of children. I really enjoyed this book.
If smiling can break your face, my face is broken.
I used to watch Noah and Daddy teatime on Instagram all the time (life happens and it has been a hot minute). The illustrations really capture Noah and Dave so well. The story itself depicts the can-do, big dream spirit the Hollis family is quite known for. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this jaunty little book. I hope Noah has more adventures and look forward to sharing in them!
Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Publishing for my ARC here.
I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This was a cute book! I liked the illustrations a lot and I know we'll enjoy reading this to our kids again and again.
This sweet book about Noah having tea time with her daddy is about so much more. It begins by describing a variety of dreams for her future through a sing song discussion with her dad over tea. He encourages her to think about which dream brings her joy, or lights her spark, which is a great way to introduce goal setting and planning for the future.
But having a dream simply isn’t enough. Noah learns that dreams involve action, hard work, learning new skills, and most importantly, failures and setbacks. She learns to keep going despite her mistakes, and that grit and determination are just as important as skill and knowledge.
This book would make a great lead-in for classroom discussions about dreams/goals, hard work, grit, and the importance of failure and being willing to take risks.
* I read tchildrens books with my service dog, he has been on my book blog since a pup. A
Kennedy grew up watching Noah on Instagram with her parents, and loves Tea Time with Noah. When this book was released I knew I had to take the chance we would get it.
Kennedy absolutely love this book. He leaned in and cuddled on his favorite parts, if I paused to scroll he would tap my arm to keep reading. he gave it all the stars. This was such a cute book and one I know others will enjoy just as much. The graphic were so cute and really captured the personalities and relationship we see between Dave Hollis and Noah.
This rhyming adventure book inspires kids to believe in themselves, to be brave and to follow their heart's desires.
Noah and her daddy are enjoying a tea party and planning an adventure together. Before they begin Noah asks her daddy to give the toast.
" Here's to adventures, exciting and new.
And here's to your dreams--may each one come true!
Here's to you, Noah. You're a bright, shining star.
Just believe in yourself, and you will go far."
After participating in many fun adventures together Noah declares that what she would really love to do is captain a ship. But guess what? She is shipless. Oh my that could pose a problem!
Does that discourage and stop her from trying? No way. She and her daddy team up together to make her dream become a reality. He turns out to be her best cheerleader and guides his determined and courageous little girl into the successful captain she longs to be.
The colourful and detailed illustrations are delightful. The book inspires kids to pursue their dreams and never give up. "Here's to Your Dreams! A Teatime with Noah Book" sparks conversations on self-esteem, courage, and personal growth. It is lovely for creating quality daddy-daughter times and would be a great gift... anytime. The book's positive message is one to be shared. I recommend it.
This was such a sweet story about following your dreams and pivoting when they don't go as planned, and the artwork was just WONDERFUL. Also, I am a sucker for a good rhyming picture book.
Here's to your dreams. May you always believe in them.
This story is empowering and confidence building. With themes revolving around social-emotional topics like self-esteem, overcoming challenges, working through big emotions and working hard to reach your goals, this book teaches children to believe in themselves and go after their dreams with an open mind and full heart.
Our main character Noah has always been encouraged by her dad to follow her dreams. What starts out as a normal day playing pretend at a tea party turns into a fantastical adventure as Noah decides she wants to become a ship captain. There is only one problem. Noah doesn't have a ship. What seems like a problem at first soon is seen to be an opportunity. With hard work and effort though, Noah is able to build her own, while working through the struggles she faces along the way. Noah learns that there will be setbacks she will face but she can think positive and work hard and achieve whatever she wants. There are great lessons and discussion topics about becoming whatever you want to be, overcoming obstacles, being brave, having a growth mindset and so much more.
This story was both entertaining and educational, which can be a tricky balance to maintain in a children’s book, and I will be suggesting it to teachers whenever possible. Incorporating social-emotional skills and topics such as this into children's picture books is a tried and true way to teach an important life skill in a way that is fun. This would be an amazing addition for classroom libraries, counselling offices and more.
Here's to Your Dreams! by Dave Hollis is an adorable tea-time adventure book.
While playing Tea-Time you can have the most fun with just a little company and your imagination.
I loved the illustrations. They are bright and every page is filled with out of this world adventures. The Daddy-Daughter elements are a big hit, it's hard to find that style from time to time and it gives Dad an extra reason to do story time. The message of not giving up and to keep trying is important.
This book is super adorable. I enjoyed the fun illustrations and the all-around fun throughout.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
I love the concept of this book. The dad is great at encouraging Noah and building her confidence. I got a bit lost in the beginning with the quick flash through multiple dreams and then they settled in on her biggest dream and it seemed a mix of magical and not. Overall the plot was a bit murky but the message is fantastic!
Meh. Smacked of a little too much self-help for a children's book. Can't kids just dream of an adventure with their dad without it turning into an awkwardly rhymed lesson of self-worth (or something... couldn't quite tell what the child was supposed to learn by building an imaginary boat.) If someone wants a perfectly written children's book about life's adventures, nothing beats Dr. Seuss' Oh the Places You'll Go. All of the adventure, none of the weird preachy overtone.
This had sweet feeling behind it but it just didn’t land for me. The story was too contrived/forced and the art wasn’t my favorite either. I like the frame of a dad/daughter kiddo being silly and having tea time though.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an Arc in exchange for an honest review.
I loved the illustrations and every page looked for the cute thing the dog was doing. The pictures really drew me in. I loved how the words rhymed. At times they felt a little too advance for the younger kids, but the pictures and theme would draw them in. Older kids will see the deeper meaning.
Thoroughly enjoyed the book!
This was a fun book I absolutely love the illustrations love the daddy daughter element. I love that it was about not giving up and to keep going to keep trying.
I could read this one every night and never I get tired of it
Here’s To Your Dream is an uplifting story of perseverance amongst a young girl and her dad. The rhyming text and fun illustrations make this book very engaging and kid-friendly. I love that it talks about never giving up even when things are hard and the importance of learning from your mistakes so you can try again. Overall, great story and message. I would definitely add this book to my daughter’s shelf!
I love the illustrations in this one
So soft and bright. The backgrounds are simply stunning
The story is super cute as well. Little father daughter tea party daydreaming away
