Seeing that this book was described as The Blacklist meets Luther and a bit of Justified I just knew I had to read it..
It took me a while to get into this book as it was a bit of a slow burn start. Once I got about half way it picked up and boy did the twists come out.
I really loved that this book was set in a snowy location. I feel the snowy setting makes it feel eerily dangerous ten times worse than it were to be set somewhere else. As not only you have murders to solve but agents need to work quickly yet efficiently when solving crime in the snow.
Laurel, one of the MC, did have this strong womanlike heroine about her, but also she said and did things that didn't really suit her (or role). I sometimes thought "really, aren't you meant to be an FBI agent?"
Even though it was book one in the series, I don't think I will follow through with the series as sadly I couldn't form a connection with the characters.
You Can Run is out 25th January 2022
I want to say thank you to Zebra, Kensington Books and Netgalley for the eARC of the book in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first book in a new series, and it was a great start. Agent Laurel Snow is back in her hometown to try and solve a murder and clear her uncles name. Along the way, she finds out deep family secrets that will change her life forever. I thought the mystery aspect was great. It kept me guessing the whole time. I love the family secrets that were revealed. The part I wasn’t too keen on was the romance. It felt too complicated with too much of an ambiguous ending. I’d rather have a good romance or none at all. But I am interested in how it moves forward. I would recommend this book.
This is the first book in the Laurel Snow series by Rebecca Zanetti. Laurel Snow is an FBI Special Agent profiler returning to her hometown of Genesis Valley, WA after a frantic call from her mother. Laurel is trying to stay one step ahead of a serial killer with the danger getting too close to home. Meanwhile she is also fighting her attraction to Huck Rivers, the Fish and Wildlife Officer as well as trying to figure out her connection to Dr. Abigail Caine, the overly intelligent witness.
This is a romantic thriller that kept me at the edge of my seat to see who the killer was and what would happen next in Laurel and Huck’s relationship. This was well written with excellent plot and characters. I cannot wait to see what happens next for Laurel and Huck as well as the good Dr. Caine. Wondering how she will intertwine herself in Laurel’s life. Great beginning to a new series!!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
This was a fast-paced and intriguing story with interesting characters. The writing was decent but never fully engaged me. It seemed rather stilted at times with a lot of telling, not showing and I had a hard time connecting because of it. I liked the mystery aspects but sometimes it was so fast-paced, I felt like details were glossed over, not giving me enough depth. I did like that it was dual POV and enjoyed Hucks’ perspectives. This was just an okay story for me.
Wow! This story was amazing. This is the first book in a new series by Rebecca Zanetti and it is outstanding. There is a serial killer in FBI Special Agent Laurel Snow’s hometown and she goes back to find out what is going on. With the help of Huck Rivers, Fish and Wildlife officer, they hunt down clues to find the killer before more women end up dead. Without giving anything away, this story had so many twists and turns I couldn’t put it down until I found out what happened. Great suspense. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
I have come to the conclusion that Rebecca Zanetti cannot write a bad book. I have literally read everything she's ever published and have never not had a decent time whilst reading.
The start of a new series for Rebecca see's the introduction to a new group of characters and locale in her usual inclusive delivery style, and I was hooked from the beginning. Cannot wait for more books and seeing where she takes the reader this time.
Riveting!
A phenomenal story full of drama, suspense, action, humor and heart. The dynamic between Huck and Laurel is genuine and heartfelt. I couldn’t put it down once started and can’t wait to see what the next one brings.
I voluntarily read an advanced copy.
Intrigued and invested from page one. This book definitely had me at the edge of my seat wanting (and needing) to know who the killer was.
Laurel was a child prodigy and is extremely intelligent. She attended college while in her teens and holds multiple degrees, which lead her to a life as a profiler with the FBI. After finishing her current case her mother calls her to come back to her hometown. There is a possible serial killer on the loose and her uncle is the main suspect.
This psychological thriller is fast-paced and gripping to the very end. There are surprises you will not see coming and twists that will keep you invested. A couple of subplots remain, unsolved at the end as they may continue into the next book, but they will definitely leave you wanting more.
I would recommend this book if you are looking for a good thriller with a slow burn. If you read authors like Tess Gerritsen and Iris Johanssen you definitely should give this book a try.
I want to thank NetGalley, Rebecca Zanetti and Kensington Books, Zebra for the e-ARC of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are honest, my own and left voluntarily.
Rebecca has upped her game with this one! I'm a fan, but this one had me on the edge of my seat. I want to read the next one...now!!!
New series, SIGN ME UP! I read this in one sitting, stayed up till 3 in the morning. Grabbed me from the beginning, intrigued me, twisted me, hooked me and made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Lawdy this one had so many elements. Seeing Laura FBI, profiler with her eidetic memory, her mom her foundation, the mystery that unfolds within her family all in the backdrop of this hunt for the serial killer. I would take Huck in a heartbeat and don't forget his dog. The build of Laura and Huck getting to know each was such a novelty coming for Laura with her memory. Abigail gave me the creeps. I needed this book to end for my peace of mind, but I didn't want it to end, I wanted to stay in Genesis Valley and I wanted to run away! It hasn't even released as I write this review and I am salivating for book 2. Thank you Kensington - Zebra, NetGalley and Rebecca Zanetti for the arc. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.
You Can Run

Heading back to Washington DC from LAX airport, Laurel Snow sat waiting for her call to board. She swiped her calendar zipping through possible upcoming cases hoping to find time for pedicure time after her long conference in LA. Laurel works for the FBI, an agent working with specialty crimes and serial killers. Her phone buzzed and her boss, George, was on the line looking to change her flight to Washington. Teenagers out climbing were hit by an avalanche. They were OK but out of the mountain poured skeletal and fresh body parts, frightening to say the least. He needed Laurel to head to Everett then head to Genesis Valley to meet with the Fish and Wildlife Agency as there was no FBI branch working in Everett. Genesis Valley is close to her home. Her mother has a house near there so at least she could stay there despite her lack of proper clothing for working in the frigid mountain territory. She needed to meet with Captain Rivers, head of Fish and Wildlife. He was adept at investigating the mountains, especially the one nearby, Snowblood Peak.
This page-turner by Rebecca Zanetti is a thought provoking suspense novel. She gains the reader's attention from page one. She is a favorite writer to many, including me. She manages to produce several types of fiction, several are series related. You Can Run will be published by Kensington Publishing Corporation on January 25, 2022. I appreciate their allowing me to read and review Zanetti’s latest thriller. If you are a fan of hers you won’t miss this one. To readers who are heavy into suspense this is one not to miss. Trying to pin the tag on this particular slayer has been tough and thought provoking. Do enjoy this one!
You Can Run is a good start to a new series!

Rebecca Zanetti's new Laurel Snow series is an interesting jaunt into the criminal suspense genre, although there is a little romance thrown in I don’t think I would consider this a romance book, the romance takes a back seat to the suspense.
Laurel Snow is crazy smart, clearly high IQ, and good at her job. She is a loner and doesn't interact with people well, but she is an excellent profiler with an eidetic memory. Captain Huck Rivers is the proverbial broken hero with demons that is partnered with Laurel to investigate a serial killer. You Can Run scratches the surface of Huck, but I think we will learn more as the books progress.
I enjoyed both characters and the twists and turns kept me guessing who the serial killer could be. You Can Run is a good story and I look forward to seeing what happens with Huck and Laurel in the future.
Laurel Snow is a brilliant FBI agent. A serial killer is loose in her home town and she returns to help when her uncle becomes a suspect. She finds more than she bargained for. Huck Rivers is a loner who works for Fish and Wildlife. He isn’t looking for a relationship however things have a way of changing.
I enjoyed this start to a new series. Look forward to seeing where it is heading.
As an avid reader of all Rebecca's words I was ridiculously excited to get the opportunity to read You Can Run. My expectations were absolutely met and all my boxes were ticked. I got the quality story that Zanetti fans expect and know. I got the strong, intelligent female lead and the strong, confusing, overbearing, slightly mushy hearted male lead.
Laurel and Huck complement each other. Their personalities are more alike than either truly realize and they work well together. The added mix of attraction from both of them muddys the water and neither really want that. Aside from the case theyre working on bit seem to have enough on their plates.
POSSIBLE SPOILER BELOW!
While I would have loved a HEA/HFN ending I'm interested to see where Laurel's jew location assignment leads her and how Huck will continue to show up in her personal and work life's.
As a longtime reader of Rebecca Zanetti's books I've been looking forward to this new series by her. You can Run, a Laurel Snow series is a diversion from her usual norm. This book is suspense-thriller heavy and the romance is barely hinted, could even be a really slow burning one.
This book introduced us to Laurel Snow, a child prodigy who is working for the FBI. We're then introduced to other characters whom I guessing will have recurring roles in the Laurel Snow series. This book fascinates me from the moment I read it, the mystery is intriguing and it kept me entertained. Was I disappointed by the lack of romance, well a little bit as I've been spoiled by Ms Zanetti by all her previous romance works. I dearly hope I didn't have to wait long for the next book as I really want to go back to this small town and all it's colourful characters.
Thanks NetGalley for the copy, the above is my honest review.
Laurel Snow is an FBI agent and a child prodigy who went to college when she was only eleven years old. As an adult, she is obsessed with capturing serial killers and in this new series, she returns home to find the Snowblood Peak killer, one who dumps young blondes into the frozen wilderness and doesn’t seem like he will stop killing anytime soon. With a team composed of a Fishing and Wildlife Captain named Huck Rivers and a newly divorced single mom named Kate Vuitton, Laurel is ready to tackle the wilderness and the killer. The interactions between the characters was spot-on mesmerizing and the story itself was so absorbing that it was almost impossible to put the book down. I’m excited that it’s the beginning of a new series because this kick butt FBI agent is like a new super hero with powers of intuition that are unimaginably accurate. I especially enjoyed the development of a romance between Laurel and Huck and the mystery surrounding Laurel’s parentage. There were some quirky characters too, including Professor Abigail Caine who enjoyed playing games with the FBI, just to check out the powers of her own intellect. This book was more than entertaining, it was one that I got lost in its pages and multi-layered story for hours at a time, not caring about eating or sleeping, just wanting to discover the killer and see how the stories all ended up. It was written masterfully, with a complicated plot that unraveled slowly and methodically to a very satisfying conclusion. Fans of mystery and suspense with some romance thrown in will enjoy this new book and, like me, anxiously await the next one.

Everything I predicted about this was wrong.
There were so many twists, the murderer could've been anyone. The female lead was smart and capable, which I really liked. There was some minor romance, but it wasn't overpowering. The character development was great and so was the plot. I couldn't put this down.
This reminded me a lot of the Rizzoli and Isles series, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I look forward to the rest of the series and will be looking into other works by this author.
What a way to kick off a new series! The characters are interesting and complex. This is a little different from other series I've read by this author. Instead of a different couple each book, this one is focused on one character, Laurel, and her potential other half, Huck. There is a touch of romance in this one but it's definitely a just beginning kind of thing. I am so hoping for much more as the series continues. The mystery drives this story. There is a ton of action and suspense and I was stunned by the big reveal. There are so many things I can't wait to see develop further.
This book was riveting and has left me reeling. What an imagination this author has. Such a beautifully crafted story with so much depth. It had my heart racing at times. The bad guy was someone who wasn't on my radar.

Being a genius and child prodigy isn’t what best describes Laurel Snow. Being the best profiler the FBI can have and, on top of that, using her talents to catch serial killers, that would probably fit better as a description. This is not your typical Rebecca Zanetti story, where we have a defined romance between characters and the investigation of a case that goes along with it. In this case, I think, romance is in secondary place, giving first place to the exhilarating and excruciating investigation to get a serial killer in Laurel’s hometown.
However, she’s not alone in this crusade: here enters elusive and reclusive Captain Huck Rivers of Fish and Wildlife, who with his rescue dog, will have to come out of exile and work the case alongside Laurel to catch a killer that is getting bolder by the minute. Not only are the killings taking place in his town, who better than a rescue and fish and wildlife officer to help Laurel navigate the wilderness where the first bodies are discovered?
With slow burn attraction, they both have been scared in the past, investigation takes precedence and the presence of Dr Abigail Caine in the middle of everything is intriguing Laurel. Another child prodigy, Dr. Caine is challenging at best and annoying at worst; although there’s this narcissistic tendency underneath every word that comes out of her mouth, enough to make Laurel edgy and curious at the same time.
With enough plot twists to keep you on your toes through your reading, car chases and guns being fired, this book has it all to be one amazing thriller. The ability to keep the reader hooked on every word and on the edge of his seat, is one of Rebecca’s trades and she doesn’t disappoint with this story. The snowy and freezing world she created is almost palpable throughout the entire reading: you can almost feel the cold wind on your face. Also, the whole investigation process, with its deadends and new leads, will keep you guessing who the killer is until the last minute. Although the case is closed at the end, we can expect more of Laurel Snow to come. Suffice to say, I can’t wait for Laurel’s next book.
