It's hard to comprehend that this is the 28th Stephanie Plum book. I have read all of them and they truly get better with time. Loved spending some time with Stephanie, Lula, Joe, Diesel, and Ranger. This crazy group of characters had me laughing out loud. As a knitter, I loved reading about Stephanie's mother and her new hobby...totally hilarious. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy. Loved it!!

Because I'm a loser, I had never read Janet Evanovich until this summer when I read the last book in another one of her series. So, in keeping with tradition I'm starting, what I hear is her most popular series, at the very end. Game On is the 28th(!) book in her Stephanie Plum series and it's easy to see why Plum has such longevity.

I had no idea what to expect but I assure you it wasn't what I just read. I'm not sure I've laughed as much reading as I did with Game On. It was a total delight. The story was a good cat-and-mouse thriller with a sadistic computer hacker but the real star of the show are the characters. Especially Plum's grandma. My grandmother is a horrible human being, so I long for a grandma like Plum's who is hilarious and loves life. All the characters are unique, quirky and compliment each other. They are all dysfunctional in the best way and really propel the story in the down times.

Needless to say, Mrs. Evanovich has gained a new fan. Better late than never.

My thanks to Mrs. Evanovich, Atria Books, and NetGalley for the privilege of reading an advance copy of Game On.

This was my favorite Stephanie Plum novel so far! I enjoyed the return of old characters, fresh plot lines, and the introduction of new tech. Stephanie also seems to be FINALLY coming in to her own. I would recommend this for anyone who loves the series, or was thinking about tossing in the towel. This was fresh and I loved it.

Stephanie is back and so is Diesel. They are both after the same man, for different reasons. A groups of hackers called the Baked Potatoes, multiple cars destroyed, and plenty of humor all rolled into a fun read. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

I really enjoyed this book! It's hard to keep a long-running series fresh, and the Stephanie Plumb books certainly did stall a bit for a time. However, I think the last couple have been great. Game On has all the stuff I like about Stephanie and her friends and family but there was just enough novelty in the story that it didn't feel like a retread. The killings have been getting a little more graphic over time, and this book continues that trend. One of the things I like about these books is that it's not really a mystery--we know who Stephanie is after, because they already got arrested--but figuring out their patterns of movement and having wacky adventures along the way still moves the plot along.

Stephanie is back with the usual cast of characters. And Diesel is back still being weirdly magical!

Coming off my last Janet Evanovich book, The Bounty [which I hated](https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3873319295?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1), I was really worried that Evanovich had completely given over all her work to ghost writers who didn't really get her characters. If this one was ghost written, at least it's really well done!

Sure, the villain is over-the-top evil but that's acceptable considering he's being pursued by Diesel and Wulf who have long been established as Not Exactly Normal (see also all the Plum holiday books and the Lizzie & Diesel series).

The book checked all the standard, comforting Stephanie Plum checkboxes:
[X] Major FTA to try to catch
[X] Minor FTAs that lead to Stephanie almost but then failing to capture with humorous consequences
[X] Cause for tension between Morelli, Ranger, and/or Diesel
[X] Grandma being awesome.
[X] Stephanie's mom feeding an addiction to deal with Grandma and Stephanie (and it's not what you think this time!)
[X] Lula threatening to shoot people
[X] Stephanie's car exploding.

Sure this book is really the same basic book as the other books but with some minor differences, but I didn't read 47 Janet Evanovich books because I wanted variety.

Like a comforting favorite meal, it's delightfully familiar.

Diesel is back! Another great romp with Stephanie Plum and her crew. Story base is hacking/cyber crime, but there are plenty of laughs as Stephanie and LuLa attempt to capture FTAs.

When I finished the author's 24th installment of this series, I literally hung up my Kindle in frustration. I've read and enjoyed the action and humor in the previous books featuring bounty hunter Stephanie Plum, but over the last few years, they'd grown to be, well, downright silly - partly, IMHO, because despite getting older, Stephanie just didn't grow up.

An offer of a pre-release copy of this one from the publisher, via NetGalley, made me decide to take another look. And honestly? I'm glad I did. Yes, some parts are still on the silly side (a guy who makes a living mooning guests at parties, for instance) and Stephanie is still waffling among her three hunky guy friends, but for the most part she seems to have settled on longtime love, New Jersey detective Joe Morelli.

One of those hunks, another "apprehension agent" named Diesel, shows up in Stephanie's bedroom unexpectedly (triggering both annoyance and one of those aforementioned waffling spells that permeate the rest of the book). Turns out they're on the trail of the same guy, an extremely talented computer hacker named Oswald Wednesday. Scuttlebutt has it he's working on something really big, so the sooner they catch him, the better. Stephanie hooks up with another hacker - a member of a hacking group that does it for fun, not profit. But one of the folks they hacked is Wednesday; when Morelli starts to investigate the murder of a man done in a rather grisly fashion, it brings the suspicion that the motive may be payback and this guy was only the beginning.

When the danger hits closer to home, Stephanie's third hunk and security firm owner Ranger makes an appearance. In between all this, Stephanie's wacky assistant Lula (she of the wild hairdos, skanky clothes and penchant for fried chicken) and crazy Grandma Mazur add some comic relief. All told, it's an entertaining romp that gave me a few chuckles and put me back in the mood to read the next one. To the publisher, many thanks!

Oh, and by the way - that really big project Wednesday was cooking up? It was a doozy!

Stephanie and Diesel conspire to take down a bad guy for different reasons. Stephanie needs to bring him in for bond enforcement and Diesel needs to take him down for international reasons.

Fast paced with lots of moving parts. Cyber crime is rampant these days and this book is spot on. Grandma Mazur is a riot. Lulu and Stephanie are entertaining. I would have like to have seen more or Ranger, Morelli is a bit bland for a corker like Stephanie. Lots of comedy and suspense. Definitely a good read.

Great example of Stephanie at her best: chasing her prey with lovable sidekicks, wisecracking her way to the goal. As always, there’s a strange collection of bad guys, good bad guys, bad good guys, and good guys to keep the reader entertained.

Janet Evanovich does not disappoint in this title, bringing back a couple of favorite characters inn Wulf and Diesel. Stephanie, as usual, ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time and sets new destruction records. As usual, I laughed with (and at) the characters and was pleased to visit these old friends. I can't wait for the next installation in the Steph-Joe-Ranger triangle or to find out what happens with Lula and her hairdresser.

In Game On, book twenty eight, Stephanie Plum’s life is never dull but laugh out loud funny at all times. Bondswoman Stephanie Plum is on the hunt for Oswald, a notorious hacker after he skipped his court appearance. The problem is everyone from Diesel to Morelli also want to find Oswald, especially after he’s recently brutally killed two other hackers.

It goes without saying we have hysterical family dinners with Grandma, her mom and dad, the back and forth between Morelli and Ranger ( definitely Ranger fan here!), the capture of other interesting ( how can they not be?) no show bail characters, and of course, a wake, with the best of all, Lulu. Lulu alone has me laughing out loud every other page and I love everything about this character.

This is book 28 in the series, but Evanovich’s writing is still as fresh and funny as the first one. They’re never stale and they never get old. Long live this series!

Stephanie Plum may not be the most badass character in the Thrillerverse, but she is a lot of fun to read about and offers bucket loads of laughter and goofiness to help you decompress after a dark story. Game On was an experimental read of sorts for me as I dove into a lighter side of thrillers with romance and quips.

Stephanie Plum is a bounty hunter whose latest bounty puts her in the crosshairs of a megalomaniac hacker who will go to dangerous lengths to kill a group of geeks who got a peek at his nefarious agenda to cause all sorts of havoc. The case brings her together with Diesel, a former flame and international bounty hunter. What starts off as a competition for Plum soon turns more violent and sinister in nature as she must work with Diesel irrespective of the bounty to catch the hacker before her loved ones pay the ultimate price.

Janet Evanovich’s witty writing results in a lot of hilarious banter between characters, particularly any and all interactions with Plum’s grandmother, Grandma. The first-person POV helps keep a singular focus on Stephanie, allowing readers to gel with her emotions and thoughts for the journey and keeping things interesting even in the most banal of situations like family dinners. As an untrained bounty hunter, Plum is not quick to action and more prone to reaction, making her relatable as an ordinary human being with only her determination and some great friends to keep her going. From start to finish, there is no dull moment as you solve the case with Stephanie and get involved in crazy shenanigans that will leave you chuckling if not laughing out loud.

If you feel like kicking back with a blast of hilarious entertainment, a few shootouts, and a dangerous grandma, Game On will not disappoint.

Yahoo! Diesel is back and still vague on who or what he works for! This book may not have been the funniest in the series, but it was among the scariest!

Everyone makes an appearance in this book, and the coolest thing is, is that Lula seems to have lost her mojo, and Stephanie gained it. I can't wait to hear what everyone says about the bat episode or Lula's hair *snicker*!

Alas, Stephanie is up to her usual with her cars...woe is me!

What is up with the odd swearing language tho? Maybe I'm having a senior moment, but I don't remember that from past books. Then again, I don't remember much swearing at all in any of the books.

I loved it, and it will be going on my comfort read shelf, right along with the rest of the series---actually ANYTHING written by Ms. Evanovich!

I was introduced to this series about 20 years ago and have stuck with it. Some of the recent books haven’t been great, but I thought this one was better. Stephanie seems to have made a decision to stick with Morelli and the focus is just on the crazy cases she gets into. Overall it’s a fast and enjoyable read.

This was a fun, typical Stephanie Plum novel. Plenty of laughs and mayhem mixed with mystery and some romance.
