"I feel like Alice after she drank the potion and followed the white rabbit.' Thus begins Sasha's journey far up inside the Arctic Circle of Norway. Northern Lights, a seemingly true North Pole, and is her father really Santa Claus? Admans is able to seamlessly blend the irrational into romance, mystery, and a little bit of adventure with every single story, and this is no exception. Tav and Sasha must overcome a few things and see what happens next for Santa and his elves!
Dear Father Christmas
For Christmas, I would love to go out into the snowy wilderness of Norwegian North Pole.
From Helen
This is the spirit of Christmas captured in a book. It is warm and cosy like a big woollen Christmas hug.
Sasha lives in the UK. Christmas used to be her favourite time of year until her mother was tragically killed in a car accident. She went to live her with maternal grandmother and her father went on exciting trips around the world. Her father always promised to be home for Christmas but never quite made it. After loosing her grandmother, Christmas became a lonely time.
She has a passport but has never used it preferring a box set on Netflix.
Already dreading Christmas, Sasha looses her job as a dog groomer when she gets a phone call from her father saying he has had a heart attack and needs her help…….at a Reindeer sanctuary in Norwegian North Pole. Sasha agrees to go on the understanding that her father returns to Britain with her.
She flys to a remote airport in snowy Norway and the magic begins,
She is first of all picked up by husky sled. The thrill perfectly described even if it does miss out the whiff you get downwind from the huskies (I’ve husky sled and it is my favourite way to travel, but there is a bit of a whiff).
Where her father lives is more than just a reindeer sanctuary, it is a Christmas themed village complete with post boxes and a post office. It is in a state of disrepair and visitors are thin on the ground.
Her father now playing a perfect Father Christmas and his only employee tall dark and handsome Taavi.
Sasha falls in love. She falls in love with the wilderness, the reindeer and the Northern Lights. She falls in love with the letters that children write to Santa. Not those with long lists of toys, but those that are heartfelt. She falls in love with the magic of Nisse and the the story of Frigya. All of which are perfectly described that conjures pictures in your imagination. The final piece of magic is falling in love with Taavi.
Will she ever want to leave?
A pleasant read and I shall definitely look out for Jaimie Admans again.
With thanks to the publisher and #NetGalley for the preview read #PostBoxattheNorthPole.
Published to Goodreads and Twitter.
I loved this book! It is perfect for the Christmas time. Just sit down, drink your hot chocolate and read this book.
Thank you netgalley and Jaimie Adamns for this eARC in exchange for my honest review!
If you love everything about Christmas, this is the book for you! Sasha Hansley has just lost her job. At the age of thirty six, she feels old & jaded & stuck. Her Dad left her with her grandparents after her Mum died & travelled the world, always promising to come home for Christmas but never did. Her Dad rings her & asks her to come to Norway to help him out after he has a heart attack. Off she goes to help & is transported into a winter wonderland with problems.
You can feel the Christmas magic through the pages, with warm, interesting characters (especially Taavi) who bring this story to life. Feel the calmness of snow covered forests, reindeer roaming, lodges to relax in & the glow of Christmas. Lovely book that transported me to this wonderland.
The Post Box at the North Pole by Jaimie Admans is a standalone Christmas contemporary romance novel. In this story Sasha Hansley is a bit of a grinch when it comes to Christmas these days with that feeling starting after the loss of her mother. Sasha’s father at that point decided to travel the globe leaving his daughter alone every holiday.
One day Sasha gets a call from her father asking her to come to northern Norway to help him recover from a heart attack. Sasha of course agrees but plans to go to bring her father home with her and sell his property in Norway. Once the plane lands a man, Taavi, waits for Sasha at the airport her father has sent and much to Sasha’s surprise intends for them to travel by dog sled.
Sasha can’t get over how remote her father’s property actually is and is even more surprised to see it’s some kind of Christmas village. Taavi is running a reindeer rescue and helping her father with his rental cabins and property. Sasha still plans to sell but she soon finds herself caught up in all the letters to Santa and trying to help.
I have read a few other books by Jaimie Admans so I had a feeling of what to expect going into this one and at the top of my list was how she manages to bring her settings to life. For the time I spend reading this story I could just imagine the village and the Northern lights perfectly. Everything going on in the story kept the pages turning as I settled in and began to love the characters. There was just one little part that I questioned but overall I had this one at four and a half stars and really enjoyed the Christmas magic.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
Loved this as usual. Jaimie Admans is one of my favorite cosy romance writers. Always good characters and stories and this one does not disappoint. A journey to Norway, Santa, nisse, reindeer, and a lot of hot chocolate. Snuggle up with a cup of something warm and enjoy.
Is there anything Jaimie can't do when it comes to creating the most beautiful and magical of stories? I think not!
I was completely swept away by the North Pole Forest and all of it's beauty, through the eyes of our leading lady Sasha - who despite no longer being a fan of Christmas - gave it her all to see why her father had chosen to spend the past four years in a place filled with make belief. I adored the reindeers, the igloos, the cosy cabins, the little post office and all of the other businesses just waiting to be brought back to life. With the colder weather looming on us, this is the perfect story to get cosied up on the sofa or in bed with, a mug of hot chocolate by your side.
I absolutely loved Sasha and Tav's blossoming friendship, as the two had a rocky start when first meeting. Tav is a very gentle soul, with a lot of depth and pain from his past, however that never stopped him from encouraging Sasha to believe in Christmas magic once more. Sasha became this incredible version of herself with the encouragement of Tav, creating an exciting atmosphere that had been missing for so long and it was absolutely definite that she was meant to visit when she did, because she belongs there. Sasha's father was also a lovely addition to the story, as well as the other side characters that brought along so much joy.
The Post Box at the North Pole is a must-read for absolutely everybody. Whether you believe in the magic of Christmas or not, Sasha's story is going to open your eyes and make you look at Christmas in the most stunning of ways. I also definitely wouldn't be against a sequel to Sasha and Tav's story...!!
I want to go to The North Pole Forest. Loved this book. Sasha hates Christmas as her dad always makes an excuse not to to be home at that time. He then phones to say that he's had a heart attack and that she needs him to come to Norway.
Jaimie Admans has a particular brand of leading lady and gentleman who step straight off the pages (or sometimes stumble, fall, trip or otherwise make a cringeworthy exit!) and into your heart and Sasha and Tav are no exception.
Set in fantastically described scenery, with reindeers galore and wishes aplenty the book follow Sasha as she reconnects with her elderly father, currently occupied in his favourite ever role of Santa, and falls first for the place, then the people and …well...you can imagine the rest and knowing the likelihood of a happy ever after of some form takes nothing away from the enjoyment of this book.
I am now dreaming of a white Christmas, with lashings of hot chocolate and maybe a one-antlered reindeer if I am lucky!
Jaimie Admans is quickly becoming a favourite author of mine and this one is just such perfection.
Such a gorgeous story with some great characters a great plot and the most amazing setting, I really don't think you could find any story as festive as this one. It was a real treat to read in the run up to the festive season now I can't wait for wintery nights with lovely twinkly lights and warm fires!
The PostBox at the North Pole by Jaimie Admans. What’s not to love about a book that is set in the North Pole, about Christmas and has a love story in it! All my favourites wrapped into one book.
The book itself had a few different storylines going on and I found myself transported to the North Pole (Norway!) wrapped up in warm blanket being pulled along by a dog sleigh drinking hot chocolate under the Northern Lights.
Poor Sasha looses her job just before Christmas then receives a phone call we all dread to get that her dad has had a heart attack and is hundreds of miles away from home. Does she stay at home or fly out to Norway to be with her dad?
It’s the little details that Jaimie Admans includes in her book that I love like the little letters to Santa from children at the start of each chapter. The untold stories of her characters that you just want to know straight away keeps you gripped to the book. What is Tav story? Does Percy really believe he is Santa Claus? Is he Santa?? Who was the man that Freya the post lady met last year and has been pining for ever since will they ever meet?
I would definitely recommend this book. Another amazing book by Jaimie Admans!
⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️
A fantastic story showing how much support and help can be offered to those who need it whilst also bringing back the christmas magic!! Loved it and couldn't put it down.
Sasha, recently let go from her job assisting in a dog grooming parlor, finds herself preparing for another lonely, unhappy Christmas. Ever since her mother's death years before, Sasha's father had done all he good to avoid spending Christmas at home. He was adventurous and sometimes remembered to call Sasha around Christmas to offer greetings, but as much as she wanted him as home, he would never come. Sasha became a homebody, never traveling anywhere, and never keeping good job.
The month before Christmas this year, Sasha answers the phone only to hear her dad's voice sounding quite frail. According to him, he had recently suffered a hear attack and needed her to come care for him. Suddenly, homebound Sasha finds herself traveling to the North Pole Forest in Northern Norway.....suddenly traveling on
different planes through different airports. She arrives in a tiny airport awaiting someone to get her when she discovers a huge man there holding her name ready to take her to her father by a sled pulled by a team of huskies. Sasha was on her way to an adventure of which no one could dream.
This story, when it started, seemed sort of silly but then developed into a story of learning to trust, believe, and love again. The trust and love was multi-sided: Sasha learning to love and trust her father and a youngish man named Tav, and they had to learn to love and trust as well.... a three-way trust and love circle. Sasha had to learn to believe in the magic of life and the magic of Christmas. So this sweet story brought a smile to my face as I read the reactions each character had as the story drew to a close. Reading this makes one ready for the holiday season and the joy of children seen throughout Christmas.
I did receive this book as an advance reader copy through #NetGalley.#ThePostBoxattheNorthPole
I have read an awful lot of Christmas books in my time, and especially in the recent weeks, but this one will take a lot to trump. I’m going to struggle to put into words just how magical this book is but hopefully, once you read it, you’ll understand just how important it is.
I have never wanted to visit a place more than I do the North Pole Forest. The NEED I have to experience it is inexplainable - I can feel it in my very soul. The need to have this world within our own is immense. I have never needed a place to be so real before. I won’t give too much away about the characters, the joy of discovering them for yourself is more important, but I think all adults will see a bit of themselves in Sasha - the headstrong, practical type - but a part of their childhood in Tav - the want to still believe the world can be a magical place, no matter what it throws at you.
If you grew up in a Christmas-celebrating household, then you’ll have grown up with your own image of Santa’s workshop and elves and reindeer, and whilst they’re fundamentally the same, our ideas will differ. And yet the way Jaimie has written about it, it’s almost like she’s gone into all of our heads and picked out what means the most to us and written it down. Everything sounds so twee and yet not corny, it’s exactly what we expect Santa’s village to be like. Even down to the snowfall and the hot chocolates - it’s all so inviting that I will hold on to my wish that such a place exists.
I still believe in Santa at 28. I don’t understand why people say “surely you’re too old to believe in that”. Why? Why is it such a bad thing to still want to hold on to that magic, to believe in that magic. Even the very idea of believing in Santa is enough to help people, so just think how important a figure like him can be to children and adults alike. Why is it that children are encouraged to believe in Santa and elves and magic, but for adults, Christmas is just another stressful and expensive time? Why can’t we still hold on to that magic?
This is more than just a jolly story about Christmas and about believing in Santa. It’s about believing in yourself, your friends and family, in love and friendship, in the ability to heal, and above all, believing in magic. I think it’s going to mean a lot to a lot of people.
A fun read to get you in the Christmas spirit told in Admans usual light hearted style. The story centres around Sasha whose carefully crafted life involves minimal adventure. She hasn’t seen her adventurous dad in years and hasn’t spent a Christmas with him since her mother died when she was a teen. For Sasha, Christmas is an event to avoid. But this year, any plans to avoid it are thrown aside when she has to rush to her dad’s side after he suffers a heart attack. To her horror she discovers he’s in Northern Norway at a Christmas themed resort called “The North Pole”. His assistant, a huge handsome giant called Taavi makes it his business to change her mind about Christmas. Cue charming mishaps and adventures that are sweet and completely fairytale, but the underlying message about sharing and caring so beautifully articulated by Sasha is winning and full of impact.
I love Jaimie Admans books, and I love Christmas books, so this was an obvious choice for me.
I really loved this story so much. The characters are really great, and have all been through hard times. I love Tav and Sasha, and especially I loved gradually getting to know Tav.
The setting is just perfect, with the northern lights, and the North Pole Forest. It makes for a really Christmassy atmosphere, with a good sprinkle of magic. There are even reindeer.
The story itself is lovely, and full of Christmas excitement. The ending is so romantic, and heartwarming, and just so perfect.
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a Christmas romance. It wraps you up in a warm, Christmassy hug.
I was given a free copy of this book, my opinions are my own.
A fabulous start to the festive season spent snuggled on my sofa with this lovely read.
Sasha’s haphazard adventure to the stunning winter wonderland of Norway had me laughing out loud and shedding tears throughout the story.
A fantastic feel good winter read, perfect for bringing in the change of weather.
Sasha our protagonist, is 36 and describes herself as feeling"so old and jaded that I'm ready to give u on life"
She is going from one dead end job to the next. But its is then she gets a very unexpected call from hailing father asking her to go ad visit him in the "most northan part ofNorway", she accepts as she has not seen him in over 3 years..
Taavi Sallvesen meets Sasha at the airport to take her to her dad(santa's) house, the only thing is he's taking her there on a dog sled. He claims later that he get on better with animals than humans as he tends to a reindeer rescue centre as well. On the journey to her dad's she gets to see a fantastic Northern Lights, which she was not expecting.
When she arrives her dad is not slowing down after his heart attack, as the doctors advised, but is running the North Poll Forest. The place is wonderful described from each individual cabin, igloo's, and the overflowing Santa's post room, which catches Sasha's eye.
Will Sasha inevitably falls for Taavi, who is her dads right hand man,. So that part of the story is pretty obvious but it is beautifully done over the hole course of the book, as they both have their secrets.
If your looking for a Christmas book this is the one for you, with it's great describtive charters, amazing settings, reminders, and a amazing story that can turn any grinch into loving Christmas! I'm hoping theres a sequel as theres definitely room for one!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me an advanced digital copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.
I loved this book so much.
This book is Christmas as it should be; love, helping others, making memories, friendships, family and so so much more.
Admittedly it did take me a little while to get into but after about 25% I completely flew through it. I loved Tav and Sasha's relationship, they both have experienced tragedy but never love and the journey they go on is just beautiful and had me welling up in parts.
This is definately destined to be a Christmas movie and should absolutely be the next Christmas Chronicles.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
What a lovely book. If you love Christmas, you will love this book.
Sash has lost in touch with her father, but gets a telephone call that he’s had a heart attack and she needs to be with him. He’s living in the North of Norway with the snow and reindeers. Tav, a worker for her father meets her at the airport and she’s dreading the whole thing when she sees the transport.
It’s full of magical, happy moments and while reading it, I felt like I was there gazing at the Northern Lights. 5 stars, feel good, romantic book.
