Gina shows up at Jeremy’s house wanting answers about her missing brother who is on the same team as him. It shouldn’t matter that he has always thought that Gina was sexy he knows he should just be nice to her and get her to move along not hold her and end up in bed. Well, when that goes for naught she shows up again and this time she really needs his help and protection, which also leads to them being together. A good story with action worth the read.

3 Stars for Expecting the SEAL's Baby

This book has the falling in love with the best friend's little sister trope. I thought this book was okay but it wasn't my favorite title from Katie Knight & Leslie North.

ARC received from Netgalley and author/publisher in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are my own and have not been influenced in any way.

Expecting the Seal's Baby by Katie' Knight and Leslie North is an accidental pregnancy military romance with a little bit of action and suspense!

I liked the book and both the main characters; Gina and Jeremy, who after sharing one night of passion, have to go on a rescue mission to find Gina's brother and Jeremy's best friend, Blake.
This was a really fun and light story and it's perfect to pick up when you don't know what to read.
Though the actual adventure part was a bit unrealistic at times, i didn't mind it that much because the romance more than made up for it.
Gina was generally smart and made the right choices( not all the time tho lol) and i appreciated this because military romance's usually have female mc's who make the stupid choices and get Kidnapped!every time!
If you like fast paced, cute, action filled happily ever afters, please pick up this book!!

Jeremy and Gina made a great couple who after one night ended up prego. Then they go on a mission to find Gina`s brother and Jeremy's best friend Blake after a Seal mission in Afghanistan went wrong and Blake is kidnapped. They have to go through the jungles of Columbia and avoid getting caught by the bad guys, keep each other and their unborn baby safe. The book was just too good to put down. I had to keep reading to see if they were able to see who the bad guy on the Seal team was, if they could rescue Blake and if Gina and Jeremy could work through there issues and become a family.

Jeremy and Gina met because of Gina’s brother who came home on leave with Jeremy. They had some sparks.. some. In Afghanistan things go south on a mission and his men were hurt. They are saying he was at fault, but the rest of the men are telling him they will help prove this. Blake, Gina’s brother however is missing still. Enter Gina where she is seeking Jeremy out to find out happened to Blake. Together they the and figure out what is going on. I enjoyed this book overall. I did think some of it was added and too much at one time.

I received this ARC through #netgalley and I am voluntarily reviewing this book

This is a good book. The two main characters are Gina and Jeremy. Jeremy is a navy seal. He was on a mission and his bff went missing. Jeremy was discharged. Gina was the sister to Jeremy’s bff. She went to Jeremy to see if he had information about her brother. He did. Together they went to Columbia to find her brother. They did find him and bring him out and got him safely back home. They decided to get married because they were in love.

love a good SEAL romance, it was a quick read, fast-paced making it hard to put down. A bit unrealistic at parts to real-life situations in parts but I enjoyed their trek through the jungles. It had a good plot and I enjoyed how it wrapped up.

Oh, this book was just lovely. I stayed up late at night to read this book because I really enjoyed the charisma between the characters. The conflict between characters felt believable. The struggle between keeping her baby safe and the fear of not finding her brother made Gina so strong! I definitely would read a sequel about another couple - if the author plans to make it a series. Her brother Blake could do with some romance as well!

I usually love Leslie north but I felt this book was lacking. The relationship between the characters was lacking and the decisions made at the end were awful. Sad to say this wasn't one of my favourites.

I enjoyed the romance in this book as well as the action and story. While I was not expecting it to lead into the jungles of Columbia, it was fun to watch the two bicker and trek through the jungles. While parts of the story didn’t seem like that would happen in a real life situation it was a good read. I do appreciate the HEA in the story, even after the drama.

Fast paced and suspenseful story with a lot of heart. Loved the characters and all their faults. Shows that live is work but totally worth it.

Exciting Navy Seal romance, a book that has adventure, love, sex and much more. Promise you will not be dissatisfied with this book.

That was a sweet romance but I wasn't totally convinced by the characters. Jeremy's decision at the end regarding his job and Gina's reaction felt a little melodramatic that could have been resolved in a better way. I wished there were more familiarity and trust between the characters, after all they have known each other for a long time.

I'll start by admitting that the reason I requested an advance reader copy of this novel is that it had "SEAL" in the title, and I've been addicted to reading SEAL romances and romantic suspense novels for several decades. I truly expected to love this novel and unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations for a number of reasons, which I'll get to, but they are the reason I couldn't in good conscience give this novel more than a 3-star rating.

At the outset, Navy SEAL, Jeremy Quinn is head of his SEAL team in Afghanistan. When a routine recon mission goes bad, 5 of his men are seriously injured in an ambush and his best friend, Blake, is missing. Supposedly, the SEALs, like the Marines, leave no man behind, but in this novel they don't even bother looking for Blake. In addition, they give Jeremy, who led the mission, early retirement. His informant gave him bad information, and the fact that his superiors didn't take that into consideration, and possibly given him a write-up, just seemed inaccurate. Had he been complicit in leading his team into an ambush, a court-martial would have been app0ropriate, but missions go wrong all the time, and Navy SEALs are rarely sent packing for things they cannot foresee or control.

When Jeremy returns to the U.S., he plans to continue looking for his missing friend and fellow SEAL, keeping in contact with a couple of former teammates, as well as Blake's little sister, Gina, on whom he's had a crush for years, and who has also had a crush on him--neither acting on their feelings because doing so would violate the "bro code." But, in their concern and grief these two end up in bed, use protection, and not long after that, Gina finds herself pregnant, after swearing off any relationship with a military man because her father, who was also in the military, cheated on Gina's mother, was gone on missions for extended periods of time, leaving his family to fend for itself, and eventually they divorced. I have a real problem with painting all military men with the same brush, based on Gina's experience with one man. Just because one man is unfaithful doesn't mean they all are.

Additionally, I felt no chemistry between these two main characters--none. They turned to each other in grief, and the next morning Gina leaves Jeremy a generic note and is gone when he wakes up. No discussion. When Gina forces Jeremy to allow her to accompany him to South America to search for her brother they did nothing but bicker. Also, how did her brother, captured in Afghanistan end up in the South American jungle? That issue is never addressed.

When Jeremy first learns about his unexpected fatherhood, he is surprised and happy to learn that Gina is carrying his child, yet just because he didn't have a really warm and fuzzy family life growing up, he automatically assumes that he'll turn out to be just like his father and brother, both deeply involved in politics, one more thing I found to be a ridiculous assumption.

There were other issues I had with both the low level of suspense and lack of chemistry in this novel, but the South American rescue attempt stretched my willing suspension of disbelief to the breaking point. I'd give more details, but I prefer not to do spoilers.

This novel sounded far better in the synopsis than it read, and I really cannot recommend it. There are scads of better written, better plotted, more suspenseful, more realistic, and more romantic SEAL novels out there, and I suggest you find and read them instead.

As stated at the outset, I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
We his was a hard book to put down for me. Great story and great author!
The attraction between Jeremy and Gina was off the charts and the author did a great job of including parts of their backstory and history throughout the book to show their feelings.
When Jeremy and Gina go to Columbia to find and rescue her brother one detail they were not expecting puts into question their whole relationship.

Thank you NetGalley and Relay Publishing for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

3/5 stars

Jeremy and Gina were a sweet love story. Thrown together to find Gina’s brother was an interesting plot. I enjoyed the forced proximity and the overall arch of the plot. The end goal was to find Blake and it was fun trying to piece together who was the mole.

I wish there was a little more flirting or romance due to forced proximity. I think with both viewpoints we could have gotten more angst than what we did. This book wasn’t as spicy as I thought it was going to be. Which made their relationship feel a little flat.

I also think that Blake’a character needed a little development. He acted like he wasn’t held captive or beat up for 6+ weeks. They talked about him being fragile but we didn’t see that. He acted like everything was normal and he just got back from a vacation.

Overall I enjoyed Gina and Jeremy relationship. I liked that Gina stood up for herself and had her own opinions. It had a good plot and I enjoyed how it wrapped up.

2.5 stars

I wanted to like this story more than I actually did. And I didn't precisely dislike it. It's just that it felt a little like a few too many disparate storylines Frankensteined together. I think the novel would have been better served had the author picked one overarching theme and stuck with it. It also felt poorly researched to me, but the author has more actual SEAL experience than I do (I have exactly none), so take my summation with a grain of salt.

The basic trope is a favorite of mine: best friend's sister. I love when a couple have known each other a long time before finding their way to a romantic and intimate relationship. In this story, Jeremy and Gina have known each other since he came home on leave with Gina's brother Blake. They've always had a spark (so they say, but I didn't really feel any chemistry), but never considered each other seriously. She doesn't want to get involved with a military guy, and he grew up in a cold family and firmly believes he's no good for her. Also, the bro code.

After a mission in Afghanistan goes horribly wrong, Gina's brother is MIA and Jeremy is forced out of the SEALs. Jeremy is determined to find Blake and reinstate his own good name. When Gina arrives at his apartment out of the blue seeking answers and comfort, one thing leads to another, and they fall into bed. Fast forward a month and the two head off to the Colombian jungle in search of Blake. And here's where it starts to get iffy.

Why on earth does Gina think it's a good idea to go traipsing off into the jungle to rescue her brother from drug smugglers? Yes, she speaks Spanish and sure she has spent time in the area before (conveniently, she's a nurse practitioner who has spent time volunteering with Doctors Without Borders), but hello? MURDEROUS DRUG SMUGGLERS. Jeremy is right to try and dissuade her. He's a SEAL, so jungles and danger and missions is in his wheelhouse and not hers. And then she finds out she's pregnant. Sometimes the braver choice is to know when you shouldn't do something, you know?

Plus, where are the mosquitos and deadly jungle critters? It felt like they were camping in Yosemite.

Anyway, you'd think that the mission would be the bulk of the story, and for a while it is, but then everything wraps up there pretty quickly and easily, and the conflict turns into "will they/won't they." There are tears and bad choices, and then a rather oddball resolution that didn't seem characteristic of either Gina or Jeremy.

Huh, the more I write, the more I realize how dissatisfied I am. The story has a lot of potential too. Maybe instead of meeting up in San Diego, Gina could have been currently stationed in Colombia with DWB, and she hooks up with Jeremy there. Perhaps then her tagging along in the mission would have made more sense.

Dunno.

Again, it wasn't a bad book, and it was very readable. I just think it could have benefitted from more time and research.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks!
