Elizabeth Strout is one of my favorite authors. I highlighted this book on several blog posts, linked below.

I can’t believe it has taken me this long to read this book. Its been out since 2013. I can see why it often appears in Best Book of the Year lists. It’s a great book about family dynamics. If you loved Strout’s Olive Kitteridge you’ll enjoy this book as well.

It’s Elizabeth Strout, so there’s going to be much to enjoy. However this novel is a step on the way of her evolution into something exceptional and suggests she isn’t there yet.

Elizabeth Strout is a wonderful writer and this is arguably her best book to date. Olive Kitteridge gets the deserved recognition that goes with the Pulitzer Prize but this is even better. Her writing is so spare but endlessly delightful, amusing and so quotable. Tell all your friends: she is a real discovery with every book a special treat.
