Really amazing story. I couldn't put it down, how they lived in the woods and survived so much while others did not. This has some family ties which are wonderful and the adventure of surviving through so much. But mostly to tell what horror and bad times they went thru. Super book and recommend to all. Thanks NetGalley and publisher!

A unique story of an entire Polish family who managed to escape from the ghetto and survive in the forest for the duration of the Nazi occupation. Into the Forest by @rebeccafrankelbooks is a compelling piece of narrative history that I had not heard of before.

I found the unique relationships, geography, and culture of the town that helped more Jewish people to survive than in other places especially interesting.

CW: it goes without saying for a story about the Holocaust but I do feel the need to note that there are several infant deaths in the story that are particularly hard to read

Thanks to @netgalley for the ARC

This is an incredible true story of courage and survival during the Holocaust. Frankel tells the story of the Rabinowitz family, who fled their Polish ghetto to live in the Bialowieza Forest in the summer of 1942. The family somehow managed to survive in the forest for two years, evading the Nazis, disease and scraping by in the fearsome winters. After the war, they fled to Italy before immigrating to America. There the family would at last find peace, and a brave act by one of the Rabinowitz sisters comes full circle as the young man she saved during the war ends up being the man her daughter will fall in love with. An amazing story, and sadly, I’m afraid one of the many that may now be lost to time forever

Thank You to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for gifting me with an audio ARC of Into The Forest by RebeccaFrankel. In exchange I offer my unbiased review.

I am honored to have been given the opportunity to review this harrowing yet beautiful story of the Rabinowitz Family who endured and preserved the Nazi onslaught and proved that resilience, determination, bravery, smarts and luck were enough to change destiny. I have read many Holocaust stories and this one by RebeccaFrankel is truly amongst the best. I can’t emphasize enough how much I hope everyone reading this review will pick up this book, read it and then pass it along to friends and family members .

Frankel brilliantly describes the history of the Polish Jews, the beginnings of the Holocaust, the horror of the early years of Nazi occupation and the tenacity to survive. This audio was unputdownable. My knowledge of the Holocaust is pretty extensive but this book still blew me away with the attention to detail and the ease to read. While by no means a breezy book, the story is compelling, engaging and a reminder that even in the worst of times, humans can both disappoint & shock you yet others will show you so much kindness and compassion.
This book magnifies the best and worst of mankind.and a stark reminder that history often repeats itself.

Audio narration by Natalie Pela was fantastic but I will be purchasing a physical copy of this book. It’s a story to cherish and share with others.
