The audio version was delightful. Great dual narrators. The plot is intriguing and the characters well written. It is a quick read a true page turner.
This is a perfect fit for readers who adore lighthearted, emotional, and humorous romances that explore the ups and downs of friends-to-lovers relationships, caregiver dynamics, and the thrill of forbidden attraction, all set against a backdrop of forced proximity and second chances.
When Sparks Fly is the first book in the Spark House series. This book is about Avery and Declan, and is told from both of their points of view. Avery and Declan are best friends and roommates.
Something happens and Declan feels like it is his fault, and he wants to be there to help Avery. As Declan is helping Avery sparks start to fly between the two.
After Avery is better what will happen to their relationship? If their relationship doesn't work out how will it effect their living situation? Will Avery and Declan get their happy ending, or will they realize they are better off as friends?
I liked this one. It was a good read but not my favourite by this author. Maybe a little too spicy for me too. lol.
When Sparks Fly was more emotional and less humorous that I’m used to from Helena Hunting, but I absolutely eat up friends to lovers so I really enjoyed it.
Narration: Jason Clarke was great, I only wish there were more chapters from his POV. Stella Bloom was also fantastically cast.
Thanks to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for my chance to review.
I really love how Helena hunting writes I and this one was no different. Perfect v chemistry perfect sparks. (Excuse the pun) perfect character loved it so much
Thank you Macmillian Audio and Netgalley for my copy. This was a steamy, fun read brimming with so much heart and humor. I loved the dual narrators.
Expect love comes when you dont want it. Lol. That’s my takeaway on this story. It is really cute and charming and definitely a must read!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 STARS
Jason Clarke and Stella Bloom did an amazing job of narrating this book. They brought Declan and Avery to life. When Sparks Fly by Helena Hunting is an EPIC audiobook and will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ARISTOCRACY!!!
Loved the friends to lovers aspect as well as the close proximity. I also appreciate that both characters have underlying issues that hinder their relationship. But honestly, I'm always going to compare each book from Ms. Hunting to the Pucked series in an effort to recreate the feeling they gave me. Some have come very close, but unfortunately this one did not. I do like that this is a series that focuses on sisters that work together so I will continue with the series.
I thoroughly enjoyed this installment by Helena Hunting. The narrators Jason Clarke & Stella Bloom did a fantastic job! These kind of small town romances are right up my alley. Always will read this author!
This was another great book by Helen Hunting. I typically gravitate toward a friends-to-lovers trope & this one did not disappoint. The chemistry between Avery & Declan was believable and had me hooked throughout the book!
Overall, I would recommend this book & am looking forward to reading more from this author!
I had to stop listening to this since I don't love medical storylines in romance. I somehow missed that in the description. Regardless, I will check out other books by Helena Hunting as the writing was good. I will be giving this 4 stars for the writing quality.
I really liked these characters and their chemistry. I also loved where this story was and it was such a fun read. However, my only problem with the audiobook was the narrator. I had a hard time pushing though to finish this.
The narration production was difficult. Didn't care much for the voices. One very high pitched and the other so deep that hearing the difference between chapters of point of view was difficult. I would not recommend the audio book for this novel.
A romantic comedy of best friends to lovers. Filled with close proximity troupe. Does have serious accident that happens in the beginning. The main character's were interesting and does hide things that are important later on. The ending did feel a bit drawn out but the book does deal with serious health issues, mental health and family strained relationships. It's a cute friends to lovers romance with a happily ever after!
While the story itself was great, the narrator had me grinding my teeth through it. I barely finished it thanks to that and will avoid this narrator in the future.
This audiobook was enjoyable and although the book's storyline wasn't my favorite, both narrators did a great job of capturing the spirit of the characters.
I began reading the actual book and was having a difficult time getting through it, so I switched to the audio version and actually ended up really enjoying it. Both narrators were believable in their rolls and drew me into the story.
Whoo! When Sparks Fly was quite a ride! I’m glad I listened to this one as an audiobook - I was sucked in immediately.
When roomies Avery and Declan are forced to spend more time together after Avery is severely injured, feelings for each other begin to bubble to the surface.
I did find it odd how quickly Declan offered to assist (*eye waggle*) Avery with her predicament. I mean, seriously.
At the beginning it did feel a little like Stockholm Syndrome leading to the romance. I mean, Avery and Declan are stuck together all day and Avery is reliant on Declan for everything.
But, I did wind up liking the chemistry between Avery and Declan, though. The author really laid the groundwork of them as friends. And I really like Avery’s sisters and Spark House. I hope to see more of them in future books!
Helena Hunting is one of my favorite authors and friends to lovers is my favorite trope. I was so excited to read When Sparks Fly and it did not disappoint! Declan and Avery were fire and the storyline was *chefs kiss* SO good. I didn’t love Averys sisters….in fact they got. On. My. Nerves. Other than them, I LOVED Hunting’s latest. I both read the book as well as listened to the audiobook and both were great.
This is a friends to lovers book. There are some heavier topics covered in the book, with Avery’s car accident, Declan’s past with his family, and the fact that Avery lost her parents in a car accident when she was younger. I like that we get both Avery’s and Declan’s point of view. The event that takes these two from friends to more was a little ridiculous to me. But you could definitely feel the connection between them. The scene that causes a rift (because you know there is always going to be one), I felt was a situation blown entirely out of proportion. But isn’t that how it always happens? I had received an audio copy of the book with two narrators and they did a great job at keeping me engaged in the story.
Bottom Line: If you like romance, this one was a decent read.
**I received a copy of When Sparks Fly from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are of my own.**
