I adore fantasy and like diving into a new world with many layers to uncover.
Traces of Magic in a Harsh and Bloody Land seemed promising in that regard.
A lot of '"what if" is present.
However, it took me forever to get through the title as it just never fully clicked.
Plus, there is the interweaving of Catholicism and magic in a way that seems quite counter to church teaching.
Given that sometimes the first book in a series spends a lot of time developing characters and setting, I may continue with book 2 and hope it improves.
