Elmo teaches us how to take care of his new best friend Tango. This Sesame Street book is great for teaching kids about taking care of a dog. It also emphasizes how you need to be very responsible when it comes to caring for pets.
A great guide to caring for your dog for families with little kids! The illustrations and, of course, the characters of Sesame Street make it very accessible for younger readers.
Have you heard the news? Elmo has a new puppy named Tango! My kids loved the Sesame Street episode with Tango, so I was excited to preview this book. It’s a great book for families that have little kids and are thinking of getting a dog for the first time.
We walk through all of the steps to owning a dog, from the first day it’s brought home, to feeding and caring for your new friend. Many of your Sesame Street friends pop in to share some knowledge, like The Count counting how many walks a dog may like! My favorite part is that they even talk about how dogs need alone time in addition to play and training. That is so important!
The books with Elmo are always good at teaching kids new things, time for potty training, ABCs, and now we have a book about how to treat and care for a new puppy. This has a lot of good information and it is put in a good educational/understandable way to help parents teach kids how to treat and care for their new puppy.
This is the perfect book for a young child who is about to add a dog to the family. Sesame Street characters and photos partner with a helpful, age-appropriate text. The characters teach something that cleverly pairs with one of their own traits. For example, Oscar talks about pets needing some alone time. There is also good information about puppy care, including everything from supplies, to going to the vet, to baths and more.
I highly recommend this adorable book for its intended audience.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Sweet and cute! This is a great basic guide for young kids (ages 3-7) to learn about caring for a dog. The photos and illustrations are bright, colorful, and engaging and will easily hold a reader's attention. The text is simple and clear and keeps the focus on the dog's well-being while making their needs relatable to young kids.
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
I recommend this book to children/families whom are about to become dog owners. Owning a dog is a big responsibility and I like that the message of proper care is written in an age-appropriate way for young readers with use of familiar and likable characters for them. I also appreciate that there is a page specific to helping shelter animals, as that's also a really important message!
A Dog's Best Friend is a wonderful book to teach young children about having a dog. It gives ways that young kids can help with their new pet and guidelines for interacting with dogs. It explains the care they need and boundaries to follow. Children will love seeing their favorite Sesame Street characters and pictures of dogs. I would recommend this for ages 4-6.
Thank you Lerner Publishing Group and NetGalley for providing this ARC.
