This was a terribly good book and I enjoyed every minute of it.
Life can be good when you have a great marriage and a healthy child. All this can end suddenly due to one single phone call. Both partners think the message is for them, both hiding something although one secret is a lot darker than the other...
Ir's time for both of them to come clean and tell each other what they have been keeping. The crack that had appeared on the pristine surface of their happiness, fast becomes a gap. Will there be a way to close that gap again or will it only widen further?
I felt shocked a few times by the outcome. I had never expected that.
I felt for Anna and Evie and I did not feel much sympathy for either Josie or Seb.
Great book. 5 stars
Thank you
A good read, full of tension and highly gripping. Really enjoyed it. Good characters and plot. Looking forward to reading more from the author.
Thank you for providing me with a copy of this book.
I run out of time so sorry I wasn't able to finish this just as yet, I will edit this review soon as I finish.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat. It is told by multiple perspectives. It started off slow but the pace picked up about the middle of the book. The ending was spectacular.
With multiple POVs, the book was entertaining in the first half. But after the big reveal, it slowed down and I wanted more twists in the book. The prose was a bit repetitive. and the ending was okay. A good read.
This is the first book I have read of Lesley’s and it isn’t one of my usual genre’s to read. I thought it was alright, it kept you on the edge of your seat wanting to know what the secrets were.
It wasn’t exactly what I expected when reading it and until it was obvious what was to happen I wasn’t able to guess how it ended. This is what I love about books when there’s a twist and you can’t see what’s coming. It kept me interested and guessing and I really enjoyed that it did.
That is what I want from a book as well as being able to connect with the characters. In this story I don’t feel like I did as such. I wanted to find out what the secrets were but I wasn’t particularly bothered what happened to the characters one way or another. I don’t know if that’s because it is a new genre to me but I was glad to finish the book. It might even say more about me than the story.
The intrigue kept me turning the pages, but what I would say is if it isn’t your usual genre perhaps don’t make this the first you read. I would like to read more of Lesley’s books to see what they are like.
It started off well. Looks like domestic thrillers, especially family thrillers are no longer my jam. So this is a very biased review, hence keep that in mind before picking or not picking this book up.
The characters are definitely flawed as expected from such stories, but it was a relatively easy read. I flew threw it and my interest levels were quite high initially.
Nothing spectacularly unique, but, it's a good enough read.
**AND SHE DOES IT AGAIN**
There's no such thing as a perfect family is there? Every family has secrets, it's just how well you can keep them hidden.
Anna, Seb and their daughter Evie present themselves as the perfect family but as the saying goes "the past always catches up with you"
Told from the perspectives of the three family members with the added narrative of Josie ( no spoilers) , each character has something to hide. As each lie or secret is slowly revealed the lot thickens.
This was one of those stories where you don't particularly like the characters but love the plot. I felt the pure selfishness of each character radiating through as they all tried to save their own skin.
A slower paced narrative which gains speed by the middle and doesn't stop gaining speed until the twisted unexpected ending.
Huge thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.
Anna met Seb in the park when she was a single mother to two year old Evie. They married and seem to have the perfect marriage with Seb doting on Evie. Anna is a very popular part of the local community which includes organising the neighbourhood watch and running a small business. But when Anna starts receiving anonymous telephone calls she realises that the secret she has been keeping could destroy her life if revealed. Seb knows who is making the calls and who the mysterious woman who keeps hanging around is as he has been keeping a secret of his own that he dare not reveal. When Evie goes missing Anna and Seb have no choice but to tell each other the truth. This book was an enjoyable thriller with lots of intrigue, suspense and twists and turns and I found it an enjoyable read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review.
This book started of great and had an excellent potential but I felt the ending was a little disappointing. The characters were well written and the story was great but last few chapters felt slightly rushed. Overall a good read and I look forward to reading more from this writer.
An interweaving plot containing lies, deception and trickery. Is it ever ok to abduct a baby? This made me question my own morals and standards. A good page turner!
Anna seems to have the perfect life: a loving husband and gorgeous daughter, many friends in her local community. But she has been keeping secrets. And so has her husband...
Every Little Lie is a psychological thriller based around a couple's secrets which threaten to destroy their family. I have previously reviewed other books by Lesley Sanderson including I Know You Lied and The Leaving Party.
Anna and Seb have both been keeping secrets from each other but a series of sinister phone calls and a mysterious woman hanging around in the street force the couple to confront the past. The book begins by flicking between Anna and Seb's perspectives to give us tantalising hints about the secrets they are hiding.
The pace picks up significantly halfway through when little Evie goes missing and the secrets begin to emerge. I did not find the plot particularly credible as there seemed to be several coincidences. However, the whole book was certainly thoroughly entertaining until the very end which was a little abrupt and left me with a few practical unanswered questions.
The characters all have understandable motivations for their choices and actions, even though we may not agree with them. Emotional desperation has led the main characters to act on instinct to fill the sadness in their lives. I thought that the self doubt and deliberations of the characters felt realistic and makes the reader wonder how they would act in the same circumstances.
Every Little Lie is an enjoyable psychological thriller and I liked the way that the main characters were all portrayed sympathetically.
A great read
Lots of secrets and lies
It will have you hooked
Plenty of twists and turns
You won’t want to put it down till you’ve finished it
Thanks NetGalley
One of the best psychological thrillers I got the chance to read this year! The relationship between the protagonist and her husband shows just how superficial our first impressions can be, and the danger that lurks behind a beautiful facade.
When Seb and Anna start receiving threatening phone calls, both are alarmed. Seb is convinced it is just someone playing a prank but when their daughter Evie disappears, both parents are forced to reveal secrets they have both been keeping, in an effort to get their girl back.
I love books where things are slowly revealed to complicate the storyline more. This book was good but a little predictable. I enjoyed the multiple POV's and short chapters - these are the best when reading a thriller! I hope to read more by this author.
Wow, I loved this book, BUT MUST WARN it is dark, disturbing, and brutal. If you don’t enjoy disturbing reads, I would not recommend! If you’re like me, the darker the better, you must buy this one today! Very well written, chilling, thrilling, and shocking! Bloody disgusting, but in that so great way! Highly recommend to the rest of the lovers of demented reads.
This really is a dark and disturbing book about lies and secrets and I ended up not really liking any of the characters by the end of it but it’s a good read.
I was hooked from the very first page and didn't stop reading until the end. It was so well written and I loved the "hooks" at the end of some chapters. It really was a wonderful story. My jaw dropped when I found out what the lie was. It kept me enthralled to the very last page. What an ending. Amazing story telling.
This is a book I could tell after the first chapter that I was going to have a hard time putting down. A little girl is the center of many lies and secrets. This story is told from multiple POV and timelines. I really enjoyed the writing and the story. I sympathized with so many characters. You will really enjoy this book!
Thrilling. Amazing from start to finish. Another great book by this very talented author. I just loved this stunningly written, heart throbbinglu suspenseful book.
