This is my first-time reading Lesley Sanderson and I found her writing to be gripping and entertaining. She manages to carry you into the lives of the characters, leaving you feeling as if you are a part of the story. I was amazed by the actions of these characters, always second-guessing them and not quite sure who to put my faith in. The conclusion was a surprise, I would never have predicted that the characters would reach an understanding of this kind.
All Anna ever wanted was to be a mother. Now she has a little girl that means the world to her and she devotes herself to the child. Little Evie is perfect in every way and Anna will always put her first. When she meets Seb, he is the perfect match, he not only loves Anna, but he loves Evie as if she is his own. Anna is happy, she has everything she has ever wanted.
Something niggles at Anna, lately Seb has been more distant. He is working late a lot and is not spending quite as much time with Anne and Evie. When Anna starts receiving threatening phone calls and spots a woman watching them she is afraid her past has caught up with her. Should she tell Seb the truth? Or is Seb keeping a secret of his own? When Evie disappears Anna and Seb need to be honest with each other. But can they live with the secrets they have kept from one another?
Every Little Lie tells the story of a mother’s love for her child, but early on you realise that Anna is just a little too protective of her child. This makes it extremely difficult to walk away from this book. I battled to put this book down as I was eager to find out how the author was going to conclude this web of lies. It was brilliantly stitched together, and the ending was surprising.
Appearances can be deceiving. The author illustrates this beautifully with her characters. I think the only character who turned out to be exactly as she appeared was Marion – Evie’s grandmother. Every character in this book has a secret, a different side that is slowly brought to light as you turn the pages. While slightly exaggerated the author focuses on how we all keep little pieces of ourselves hidden, small parts of our lives that we would rather not share. The characters in this book demonstrate what happens when what we keep to ourselves are more than the little things. Lesley Sanderson did a marvellous job with these characters – I loved them even when the truth was revealed.
Every Little Lie has everything you could ask for in a good read. The story is gripping, twisty and full of emotion. This is a five-star read that will not leave you disappointed. I loved this book.
Mystery and thriller fans can expect to be captivated when they reach for this book. I highly recommend this book. You will not be disappointed.

Anna has everything in life she ever wished for, a devoted husband in Seb a beautiful daughter. They live in a great neighbourhood and have a good set of friends. Life couldn’t be better.
But Anna and Seb are both keeping secrets and when there daughter Evie is abducted those secrets will be exposed.

This is not a faced paced thriller with lots of twists and turns. From the first few chapters you know where this book is going and how it is going to end.
The book was well written with a great cast of characters and it was really easy to read.

Every little lie is a drama filled thriller centred around Anna, Seb and their Stalker. Anna recieves a threatening phone call on the landline. She is terrified her past is catching up to her. When Seb hears this he's terrified his secret will be shared. The question is whose secret is on the line and how do they protect their daughter.

I really enjoyed every little lie, I will say it was a slow starter and I found it hard to connect with the story to begin however by chapter 4 I was committed and glad I didn't give up. I found myself on edge trying to work out what both the secrets were and figure out why they had this Stalker. The chapters jump from Seb to Anna's point of view making it easy to understand why both party might not want their secret revealed. Each character was written really well and I found myself liking them both even if Anna is the more dominant point of view.
Anna is an over protective parent whose world centres around Evie. She's a great mother and prides herself in being so. Evie is a great character and I loved how well she is written throughout. Sebs love for his daughter is prominent but he isn't the most present of fathers although he seems to try. It is a clear theme throughout how much they both live their daughter .

The prose is written so well and flows well also. The secrets are revealed at the right times to the reader and it manages to add a bit of tension throughout. I loved how the author jumped between the characters going over the exact same time line. This is done so well in the latter half of the book. The interpretations of a moment which slightly difers in each point of view, it's well written allowing me to pause and align my support one way or the other.
The book really managed to garter sympathy from me throughout and also in total disbelief.

Would I recommend every little lie? Yes it's a great book just a slow burner once it starts it's hard to put down. I loved each character and enjoyed the way the chapters are written. Its full of twists and turns as to be expected and its not one if those books where all the crazy happens at the end, well ofcourse crazy does happen there but the book does build up to it. If you liked books like the wife between us or his and hers you will love this one. An easy 4 stars 🌟

Oh my goodness, the tension in this book is unreal! Make sure your clear your diary before you start reading this book, it’s impossible to put down. I sat for hours reading this book without stopping, I just had to see what was going to happen.

The story is told from several characters’ points of view, and to start with I had no idea who might be the villain of the piece, or where the story was going to go, then about half way through comes the first twist. I was quite surprised that it was going to be that simple, but of course it wasn’t, there are many more twists to follow, and nobody is without their secrets in this book.

After the initial slow build up of tension, the plot gathers pace and suddenly it’s shocks all round. There is absolutely no way of putting the book down once you’re in this deep, and it’s a total page-turner until the end.

For anyone who loves a good psychological thriller, this is one of the best and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

This is the first book I have read by this author.

I was originally drawn to this book by its stunning eye catching cover and intriguing sounding synopsis and title. The synopsis stated that this book is 'An edge-of-your-seat psychological thriller with a jaw-dropping twist, perfect for fans of K.L. Slater, T.M. Logan and Lisa Jewell.' I am a huge fan of all three of those authors so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).

This novel consists of a prologue, 43 chapters and an epilogue. The chapters are short to medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

This book is based in Shropshire, England, 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 , UK 🇬🇧. I always enjoy when books are set in the UK as I'm from Wales and have sometimes visited areas mentioned in the book. I have in fact visited and holidayed in Shropshire.This makes it easier to picture where the scenes are set at times.

This book is written in third person perspective and the main protagonists are Anna, Josie, Evie and Seb. The benefits of third person perspective with multiple protagonists are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.

'Every Little Lie' discusses some topics that may trigger some readers or may not be suitable for others. I like to point this out ahead of time in my reviews so you can judge if this book is for you or not. In this book Lesley discusses/includes child loss.

Omg Lesley where have you been all my life?!?!? What a absolutely gripping heart racing story!!!

This book is extremely well written with vivid descriptions leaving your heart racing and hands sweating while your standing by Anna, Seb and Josie throughout!!! The cover, synopsis and title suit the book perfectly.

The storyline is absolutely captivating and it had one of the most intense and gripping prologue that I have read for a long time!!! It is filled with lies, love, secrets, tension and suspense from the first page until the last. It also really makes you think throughout about who was in the wrong and what you would have done if you were in the position of Anna, Seb or Josie? The title is perfect for this book as throughout the book every little lie treacles out like poison from the pages and builds the storyline up bit by bit. It is truly captivating and page turning so if you are about to start this book make sure you clear your schedule as once you've start you won't be able to stop. Every chapter makes you want to start the next one and then the next as each ends on the perfect spot to make you want to carry on. This book would make an absolutely amazing movie!!!


It is set over/includes multiple time lines. When books show what has happened in the past and what is happening in the present I find it really helps the reader (if it is well done) understand why things are happening and what has lead to the present activities and decisions. It also shows the bigger picture.

The characters are all vivid, strong and realistic and I became invested in each of them as each move every one made left you on edge in this dangerous game they are playing. I really felt for Anna as she struggled with infertility and loss over and over and then to be in the position watching another pregnant woman hate being pregnant. It really makes me feel for mothers who do go through this on a regilar basis and Lesley really captivates her feelings. I couldn't stand Josie from the moment I met her and found her to be truly selfish and despicable. I believe the only innocent party in this book was Evie who was such a sweet little girl. I was originally going to add Seb to the list but he most certainly wasn't innocent and played a huge part in what happened. I won't go into more details as I don't want to spoil it for future readers.

Congratulations Leslie on an absolutely amazing book which I can guarantee will be a HUGE success. Welcome to my favourite author list I am looking forward to reading more of your previous and future books and am heading straight over to Amazon to add them all onto my wish list!!! Here's to more future successes 🥂!!

Overall a very fast pace, gripping, unputdownable psychological thriller that will leave you on the edge of your seat with a pounding heart!!!

I really enjoyed this thriller, I was absolutely gripped and I read it in one day.
I loved the twists and turns, and frankly started to wander exactly who the good guy was!
*Slight spoiler follows* without giving too much away the moral dilemma was one hell of a head scratcher, should she have done it? who is the true wrongdoer?
Very well written and enjoyable thriller

This was a good psychological thriller that had the potential to be great. I loved the first half of this book, and couldn’t put it down. I liked the storyline, but found the ending to be rushed and a little disappointing.

Anna's perfect life is the envy of all her friends. She has a doting husband, a beautiful daughter and a flourishing business. But beneath that veneer of perfection, she holds a deep, dark secret that would destroy everything she's worked for. Luckily, nobody knows about her terrible secret....or so she thinks.
When Anna starts getting threatening phone calls, notices an unknown car parked outside her house and realizes a mysterious woman is stalking her, she thinks her day of reckoning has finally come. Little does Anna know that she isn't the only one is the household with a dark secret. Her devoted husband, Seb, may not be so devoted after all. Because he's not so sure if the stranger is directing her threatens toward Anna or towards him. He made a horrible mistake and fears the consequences of his actions are finally catching up to him.
The question is: Who has the biggest secret in this relationship? Is the stranger after Anna or Seb?

Lesley Sanderson is a favorite of mine. I've read all her book and liked all but one of them. This one ranks pretty high on the list for me. The story is told through the perspectives of both Anna and Seb, which was a nice touch. I enjoyed hearing both of their inner monologues and getting to the root of their deepest fears, insecurities and past sins. I also enjoyed the inclusion of the WhatsApp updates.
While I did find this story predictable early on, Sanderson's writing style and pacing kept me engaged in the story. This is a plot I've read before, but IMO Sanderson did it better, and I enjoyed it.

I recommend this book to fans of psychological thrillers in the vein of K.L. Slater.

Anna was a single mother to Evie until she met Seb. She adores her little girl as does Seb. They are now married and she calls him Daddy. Anna works from home because she does not want to have a sitter for Evie. She walks her to school each day and picks her up afterward. Anna is very efficient and involved in Evie’s school. She has also set up a WhatsApp neighborhood group for everyone to keep up with what’s happening.

One day, Anna gets a phone call on her home phone from some woman saying Anna destroyed her life and now she’s going to destroy hers. She’s now afraid of what might happen. She wonders if something she did has caught up with her. When she tells Seb, he too worries about the same thing. Is one of them guilty of something bad? Then one day. Evie goes missing and Anna is terrified that her worst fears have come true.

Anna’s love for Evie is special and she’s a good mother to her. Seb is also a good father. What happens in this story is rather a sad tale. The characters were all created very well and the plot is quite compelling. There is blame aplenty here and it’s hard to say what is right or wrong. I did enjoy the book and found it provides lots of food for thought.

O.M.G!! If you are a fan of psychological thrillers you must go grab a copy of Lesley Sanderson’s latest book Every Little Lie!! Lesley’s book is so thrilling, mind blowing, twisted, and so intense you are sitting on the edge of your seat. This is a very fast paced book that you should clear your schedule for. Once you pick up the book you won’t be able to stop reading it. Trust me I know!

Along with Anna I feared for her and Evie’s safety as well from the stalker they had. I too wanted to know who this person was that was making their lives miserable.

The secrets these characters are hiding are huge and when they come out OH BOY!!

I quite liked how Lesley started out the book by having a message sent on WhatsApp to the Wilbraham Road Group. Throughout the book you see messages back and forth from members of the group.

Four year old Evie tugged on my heart strings in this one! She was the cutest little girl who loved her Mummy and Daddy so much. I found myself smiling and cracking up at some of the things she said or did in the book.

One thing I liked about the book was we heard both Seb and Anna on two separate occasions how they met. Usually, you only hear one side of the story.

EXCERPT: I prefer those times when I focus on her, watch her as she leaves the house, her slim figure in expensive jeans and pale jacket, blonde hair loose down her back, so straight compared to the girl's tight curls. On those days I follow them a few paces back; she is so absorbed in the child that she doesn't notice anything that is going on around her. Dangerous, that is. It makes her vulnerable. Makes it easier for anyone wanting to take advantage of that vulnerability. Someone like me.

When she reaches the school, I slip into the cafe opposite and position myself in the window. I'm such a regular now that the owner has my coffee ready for me each morning. Flat white, one sugar. I sip it and watch her squeeze the child tight as if she doesn't want to let her go. She always waits until the girl has crossed the playground and is swallowed up by the building with all the other children, a mere dot against the sea of navy blue.

I can't always be there after school, when the mothers congregate on the pavement outside like a load of birds chirping and flapping their wings. She's always one of the first, her gaze trained on the exit even when she's twittering with the others, her little group of friends. If only they knew.

Her clique stands out from the other mothers, those who arrive last minute in their tracksuit bottoms, carpet slippers on occasion, these harried parents always in a hurry, unconcerned with how they look on the morning school run, just wanting to offload their kids for the day's reprieve. In contrast, her group doll themselves up to look smart, as if they are heading to the office afterwards. Some of them will go straight on to work, but she doesn't have to be anywhere to earn her keep. She'd tell you she runs her own business, but it's nothing more than a hobby as far as I can see. She's like a fifties housewife, flitting around the house all day with a feather duster, making everything gleam for her husband when he gets home.

He will be the first act; she will be the second. Before I move on to the main feature, he needs a little help to see his wife for what she really is. Once that is complete and he can gaze into the dark depths of her soul, I will hit them where it hurts. I've made my first move and I can't tell you how good it makes me feel to see them whirling out of control like spinning tops before crashing to the floor. They have no idea what is about to hit them. I'll split up the unit they think they've created, open the cracks, let them look inside and see that their whole life is built on an illusion, leaving them with nothing.

I'm enjoying working out who will be more devastated by this, him or her. I know who my money is on, but what about yours?

ABOUT 'EVERY LITTLE LIE': Lie #1 was to my new friends, about why I moved here.
Lie #2 was to my husband, about who I was before I met him.
Lie #3 was to myself, that I would get away with what I’ve done.

When I met Seb, it was like everything fell into place. My daughter Evie finally had a proper dad, and I had found the husband of my dreams – and what Seb didn’t know about my past wouldn’t hurt him.

But lately he’s been acting strangely. He won’t look me in the eye, he keeps coming home late and the other day at the school fair I saw him arguing with an unknown woman – the same woman I’ve seen hanging around outside our house.

And just as I start wondering whether I’m not the only one with a secret, Evie goes missing…

MY THOUGHTS: I didn't find this an edge-of-the-seat read, but I really loved the first half of Every Little Lie. There's a slight air of menace as we are aware that someone is watching Annie and Seb. There is a woman, hanging around outside the house and there are phone messages, sinister, threatening, that each thinks are meant for them, each having a secret to hide. And then there's Evie, four year old Evie who is strangely attracted to the 'watching woman'.

The story is told from multiple points of view - Annie, Seb, Josie, and Evie - which mostly worked well except there was a certain amount of repetition.

The big revelation, which I enjoyed, came about halfway through, and then the wheels more or less fell off the wagon. There is a huge piece of repetition of information. We learned about it in 'real time' as it happened in 2016. Then, when Annie is admitting to Seb what she has done in current time, we get it all again, blow by blow. Totally unnecessary.

And the ending? That was a miss for me - it just didn't ring true. I liked Annie's character, and Seb's. They were both basically good, honest people who loved Evie. Annie is overprotective but, in the circumstances, that is understandable. Annie and Seb love each other. They love Evie. So sorry, but why the stupid ending? I just don't understand . . .

Having loved Lesley Sanderson's previous books, I am left scratching my head over this.

Anna is living her perfect life with husband Seb and daughter Evie. When she receives mysterious phone calls and messages threatening their family, Anna is brought back to her past and wondering if someone knows about her secret. At the same time Seb is thinking it's only a matter of time before his secret is revealed, threatening his perfect family.

I thought this was a good read, told from multiple POV's. Though slow-paced it did begin to pick up with an ending I didn't see coming. Through everyone's lies the one most affected by it all is Evie. It was a page-turner for me and I look forward to reading more from this author.

Every Little Lie by Lesley Sanderson has a pleasing premise and this lured me into picking up a copy. Anna has a daughter, Evie and is a good wife to Seb who she met in the park when Evie was two. Seb dotes on Evie as much as Anna, but when Anna starts receiving threatening calls, Seb believes he knows who is responsible.

The tale is told primarily through Anna and Seb's narratives with the others devoted to another player in the story and the odd chapter from Evie. The author immediately throws in some suspense and I really enjoyed the plot, the succinct chapters, the fast pacing and all of the twists and turns. It is a book about lies, deceit and secrecy and there is a general air of tension, though it never reached a level where I was on the edge of my seat. I had my hunches as to the culprit's identity and although most of the characters were not particularly personable, this did not interfere with my appreciation of this delightful psychological thriller. Overall, a riveting novel that I'm delighted to recommend.

Anna found love for her and her daughter Evie in a wonderful man named Seb.  The three of them have been so happy.

But when a woman calls saying that since Anna destroyed her life,   this woman plans to destroy hers, Anna is confused, as is Seb.  They decide it must have been a wrong number.  But the calls keep coming, and there is someone watching the house.  Then a woman tries to pick Evie up at school.  Things are getting out of hand.

Anna thinks she knows who it is.  Seb thinks he knows who it is.  But the two of them have kept secrets from each other, and they may have to come clean.

Then the unthinkable happens.  Evie is taken.  Their world falls apart.


My Opinions:   
Well, that was a good, fast read, with a somewhat predictable ending.  There was a twist about half way through, but it wasn't really a surprise.

The book was about lies and secrets.  It was also about motherhood, and why certain people should not become parents.

The story was told from different perspectives, and this is how we learned the full story.

I was not overly impressed with the ending.  While parts dragged, the ending felt rushed, and I think a little out of character.  As well, I didn't really like any of the characters.  They were all a little warped.  If they weren't committing a crime, they were cheating, or abusive.

Anyway, this was a typical domestic thriller, and an okay read.

From the first chapter of this book I was hooked. I really enjoy thrillers that are written with a mixture of first and third person as it builds up the tension.

This book was not predictable in the slightest and was gripping from start to finish. Every character had a lie that was twisted into the tale making a web of problems impossible to untangle.

The pinnacle of the book felt slightly rushed as the rest of the book slowly builds but it worked in the context of the story.

Every Little Lie was great. I found it to be a bit of a slow burner at the beginning but it was building the tension and once the twists and turns started it was one hell of a rollercoaster of a book which I could not put down.

This psychological thriller started with a great lead in that drew me in and there were some really good moments in the rest of the story.
First, I could tell that Anna was fake from the beginning. I’m not going to give anything away, but any time a character projects a façade as much as she did? Dead giveaway that there is something to hide.
I thought the set up was also effective. Feeling that way about Anna, I was just waiting for the other shoe to drop. The author did a good job of building tension and even through in a few red herrings to keep the reader guessing.
However, I felt that some of them were too “out of the blue” and didn’t go anywhere. A good red herring drags the reader along for a bit. In this regard, there were a couple of characters who seemed superfluous. Although, they did add to Anna’s suspicions, so there is that.
I will admit that I didn’t exactly see the major twist coming. There were a few things I guessed, but I didn’t get the big connection right away, so well done on that!
Once Anna and Seb’s storylines converge, the action really gets going. The second half of the book reads much faster than the first half.
That being said, I thought there was a lot of narration and Anna thinking about things. Some of the passages were long and drawn out which took me out of the action. Likewise, there were characters in her memory that seemed just as useless as the ones in the present.
In retrospect, none of the characters was very likeable, which I think actually added to the story. It was just a shame that there was a child in the middle of all of them.
The climax was definitely page-turning and was really the only part of the book where I felt like I was “watching” something happen. The author did a great job with this pivotal scene.
And while there were parts of the resolution that I appreciated I thought the final decision of the characters was odd. The person who ended up with Evie was no better than the other options (in my opinion).
It was still a good read, and I would definitely recommend the book as an engaging psychological thriller.

This book was pretty slow action-wise for the first half. It was still an interesting read as it was building and I wanted to read more to see what was going to happen. I enjoyed the writers style as well as the storyline and there were some twists that I didn’t see coming.

This is a good psychological thriller.
Anna, Seb and Evie seem to be the perfect family but there’s secrets they are hiding from their friends and from each other.
Anna is very protective of Evie and when she starts to receive threatening phone calls, she’s scared her life is about to crumble around her.
Seb dismisses the calls at first but as they become more personal, he’s worried that his secret is about to come out.
I won’t say too much more as it will spoil it, but the second half of the book picks up the pace.
It was a bit of a disappointing ending as I expected more of a challenge from a certain character.
Overall a good read.

An emotionally charged thriller filled with secrets, lies and deception, EVERY LITTLE LIE is an addictive ride from start to finish and had me turning the pages until I finished the very last page. While the story does feature a missing child at some point, it's not your usual run of the mill missing child story. It is so much more. And as the layers are slowly peeled away all will be revealed.

Anna lives a perfect life with her husband and daughter. She is the local organiser for such events as the school fete, the Neighbourhood Watch committee and everything else that helps keeps their community running safe and secure. Her daughter Evie is the centre of her world and Anna would do anything for her...anything to keep her safe. After all she has been through to have her, she will let nothing harm her. They are a close and happy family.

Evie was two when Anna and Seb met in the park one day, and she knew at once that he was the one for her. Seb adored Evie from the first moment and has always thought of her as his own. And he is all Evie has ever known as a daddy. Just her smile is enough to make his heart melt...and Anna's too as she sees the love between her husband and daughter. Her life is as perfect as she could ever hope to be.

Until the phone calls start...

"You destroyed my life. Now I'm going to destroy yours."

Confused and frightened, Anna dare not think what these threats may mean. She confides in Seb who instantly thinks he know who is behind the calls, believing he is the target of this person's rage. Trying to keep the truth from Anna, he endeavours to get to the truth himself but only ends up digging himself in deeper.

And then Evie starts drawing pictures featuring "a nice lady" who is "following me". Anna looks outside her window and catches a glimpse of a woman with a dark bob sitting in a car outside before driving off. Who is this woman? And what does she want with them? Could her threats be aimed at Seb as he claims? If so, that would indicate he has betrayed her...doesn't it? But then that would be so much better than the real truth, wouldn't it? Surely, this isn't Anna's past catching up with her...is it?

But then when Evie goes missing from their backyard, Anna and Seb are frantic and it is then that both realise that they must come clean about the dark secrets each of them are hiding. But when all is bared, is there any coming back from this? Which of them has the darkest secret of all? And as going to the police isn't an option, the only people Anna and Seb can rely on to fix this and bring Evie home is each other. But...are baring their deepest secrets, are they sure that they can trust each other now?

I thoroughly enjoyed EVERY LITTLE LIE from the very first page till the very last. It was steadily paced and while the plot was predictable and fairly easy to figure out, it is still an addictive and enjoyable read as you race to the conclusion to see how it all ends. It was a quick and easy read, easily devoured in just over five hours.

The story unfolds primarily through Anna and Seb's narratives with a chapter told by Evie with several others devoted to the other player in the story. Told this way, some may find a couple of aspects repetitive but only in the course that it is told from each of the character's perspectives. And slowly but surely, all the secrets and lies come bubbling to the surface and all is finally revealed.

Overall, EVERY LITTLE LIE is a tense and addictive read that is perfect for fans of domestic thrillers.
