Hallmark and Netflix Christmas movie lovers--I have just found my newest obsession: Holiday based women's fiction!
Set is Lapland, above the Arctic Circle, readers are invited into a winter wonderland. There, in the quiet, peaceful solitude of nature you can face the honest of new and rekindled love.

2.5
Okay, I didn't get the promise at first- like why do you want to run into the one who dumped you again!
It felt cute initialy but wasn't too much into it to keep myself super engaged
A nice fun read if you like the blurb

This book starts out with the main character, Sylvie Magnusson getting dumped by her fiancé a week before her wedding! She then goes on an adventure with her BFF and runs into her ex-bf, who is also "the one that got away."
As much as that sounds like a cute premise for a cozy Christmas read, the synopsis basically summarizes the entire book. I wish I had enjoyed this more, but unfortunately, I couldn't wait for it to be over.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to listen to this in exchange for an honest review!

This may or may not be the third Christmas book in a row I've read/listened to this September and I absolutely adored it. I loved the drama, the love, bouncing back after a break-up, and a little bit of the one that got away. Sylvie was broken up with right before her wedding to her boyfriend of 10 years and she is absolutely devastated (although it shouldn't have came as a complete surprise). So instead of going on her originally planned Honeymoon she and her bestfriend decide to go on a trip to Saariselkä to get away... or the main reason is so she can try to get together with with Stellan- a flame that died out in college but she never forgot about. This was an absolute delight of a story and I could not stop!

Christmas at Frozen Falls is a cute Christmassy second chance romance. If Christmas in Lapland, reindeer sleigh rides and a bunch of husky puppies sound good to you, you'll probably enjoy it quite a bit.
I can't say the romance gripped me 100%, nor that I completely clicked with the characters. And the things that kept these people apart probably could have been more convincing.
But all in all, this book was cute and fun and exactly what you can expect based on that cover.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of Christmas at Frozen Falls by Kiley Dunbar in exchange for an honest review.

I love a Christmas Romance read and this doesn't disappoint.
I think I would have preferred to read it rather than audiobook - it can be quite funny but its not delivered well and you don't really catch the joke until after the fact as a result.
The main character is a bit desperate but who isn't after a break up!

Okay. So. I wanted to love this book. The cover alone took my breath away, and I was ready for cozy Christmas vibes. However I found the MC Sylvie pretty annoying and dumb. A ten year engagement to a shitty dude with an awful narcissistic mother?? Like really? I tried really hard to look past that to get through the rest of the book, but Sylvie just bugged me at every turn. Her friend's travel blog and her romantic storyline also felt super forced and awkward.
Overall the setting was amazing, I just didn't like any of the characters or their stories. 😬

A lovely Christmas book and was good read out too. I enjoyed it and would like to read / listen to more. Well done.

Christmas at Frozen Falls is an uplifting romance. Sylvie's fiance dumped her one week before the wedding. The honeymoon was supposed to be at Christmas time so her parents scheduled a vacation for that time as she was going to be gone. Now she is looking at spending Christmas alone. Her best friend, Nari, plans a trip for them to go to Lapland and see the Northern lights. Sylvie is reluctant to go on the trip but them she remembers that Frozen Falls is the hometown of her dreamy Finnish college boyfriend. When they arrive at the resort in Lapland, they learn that they are staying in the resort that Stellan's family owned and he is now running it. He is still the gorgeous hunk that she remembered but he is a bit reserved with her at first. Stellan and his assistant take the two women on great outdoor adventures and some romance occurs. This is a great book that I recommend.

I couldn't get into this book at all. I listened to 60% of it and barely cluld tell you what was going on up until that point. It felt very disjointed to me and I couldn't get into the narrartor either. She had a calming voice but something about the accent was off.

Absolutely magical. It has all the elements of winter and Christmas time I could ever ask for in a book. Especially snowy husky puppies. Yessssss.

Christmas at Frozen Falls - Kiley Dunbar

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to NetGalley and Sage Egmont Audio and I am leaving this review voluntarily
Sylvie Magnusson is going to be lonely this Christmas. Instead of jetting off for her honeymoon, she’s freezing at home in Cheshire. Guess that’s what happens when your fiancé dumps you a week before your wedding…
Sylvie’s best friend, Nari, plans a trip to see the Northern Lights and get Sylvie’s mojo back. But as their Lapland getaway approaches, Sylvie realises that Frozen Falls is the hometown of Stellan Virtanen, her dreamy Finnish ex-boyfriend, the one that got away.
This book has been on my want to read list for a while, so when I saw that it was up for request on Netgalley I jumped at the opportunity to get it listened to sooner. I adore the way that Kiley Dunbar writes so I am going back and reading all of her books.
With beautiful scenery, this is an ideal book to read on a cold evening as the snow is falling as it is a warm and cosy novel. Full of Christmas spirit, this will set you up perfectly for the festivities of the upcoming season. With alternating chapters that work well - Dunbar has allowed to reader to follow two different characters on their romantic journeys. A delightful book that is full of lovely characters, Lapland traditions and snow - what is not to love?
Rating 4/5

Christmas At Frozen Falls by Kiley Dunbar.
This book was originally released in 2019, but will now be making it’s audio debut on 31/10/21.
Immediately the cover draws you in. It’s very festive and inviting.
Sylvie is nursing a broken heart. Her wedding is off, Christmas is coming and even her parents will be away.
Sylvie’s best friend Nari, comes to the rescue with a trip to Lapland for Christmas.
As they arrive in Frozen Falls, Sylvie comes face to face with Stellan, a ghost from her past, and the one that got away….
Bring on sleigh rides, reindeer, adorable dogs, Christmas cheer, snow, romance and some more snow.
The story ticks along at a good pace. It’s well written, with likeable characters and a well described setting.
This is a charming story, that will captivate your heart and warm the cockles of your festive cheer. Quite simply just the most lovely hug in a book.
Audio narrated by Helen Duff, who has done a sterling job with some difficult accents.
A festively fabulous five stars from me.

With thanks to #Netgalley and #SagaEgmontAudio for an audio ARC of #ChristmasAtFrozenFalls by #KileyDunbar.

So I'm apparently in the minority for this book, but it was not my favorite. One - the characters weren't all that believable; two - the book was WAY TOO LONG; three - it felt more like a chore to read it.
This book (like so many others that I have recently read) starts out with the groom dumping the bride right before the ceremony is to take place. And he does it by text / phone - not even in person. What is wrong with these people? And this is also after a 10 year engagement. Again, what is wrong with these people? He soon gets another woman pregnant (which again is like another book I just read) so he immediately falls into the "scum" category in my book.
Sylvie is broken hearted and pretty much cries non stop for ~6 months. She had planned to take a honeymoon at Christmas instead of just after the wedding and since her parents paid for it, they convinced her to still go on a honeymoon, but with her best girl friend instead. They at least change locations and decide to visit Lapland. Where she happens to know a Finnish boy that was her first true love - now she's not even sure she ever loved her fiancee. Well, that went downhill fast. Lo and behold, the first true love happens to OWN the resort they are visiting. How quaint is that?
Now that she's no longer engaged to scumbag, can she and her first true love find happiness? And can her best girlfriend find happiness also?
This book is cute - but it just didn't do it for me.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. The opinions stated above are mine without biases.

Thank you to Kiley Dunbar, Saga Egmont Audio, and NetGalley for the opportunity to review the audio version of Christmas at Frozen Falls.
When Sylvie’s fiancé of 10 years unceremoniously dumps her during her wedding dress fitting, her best friend, Nari, plans a trip to see the Northern Lights and help Sylvie’s get her groove back. They decide to go to Lapland in Finland which is also the home of Sylvie's college love, Stellan, who also suddenly left her while on a study abroad trip. Sylvie has never gotten over Stellan because of the unanswered questions surrounding his sudden departure at the time.
I found many part of this book very sweet but I mostly enjoyed Sylvie and Nari's friendship and their love for one another. Despite some quality moments, this one fell flat for me for a lot of reasons. The ladies end up spending time with their respective gentlemen for a majority of the trip and, unfortunately, the chemistry in these romances was not there. I was hoping some something more than the standard chaste Christmas story but it did not deliver in the romance department. I regret to inform you all that it was not smutty in the least.
The audio narration was good overall but, at times, she would slip into "Dracula" territory when attempting to do the Finnish accents of the paramours.
I don't know that I would pick up another book by this author because I didn't think the relationships works but I would happily listen to another book read by this narrator.

A sweet holiday romance. Sylvie is not looking forward to Christmas having been dumped by her jerk of an ex shortly before their wedding. She is truly in a slump and wants to be left alone and to wallow. Her best friend Nari has completely different plans for them both and books them on a trip to Lapland to see the Northern lights. Mostly her intentions are good, but I also found her to be selfish in that she’s a travel blogger with no where to go so she hijacks her friend and takes her somewhere she had no desire to go to. Additionally she thinks Sylvie jus needs to “get over it” and move on as she isn’t one who really believes in true love. As it turns out Sylvies ex-boyfriend, the only true love of her heart owns the resort they are booked to go to. He broke her heart so so she isn’t really sure if she is happy or a little freaked out to see Stellan and clearly neither is he. Nari has a tendency to go off and do her own thing for her work while not taking her friends emotional quagmire into account. Slowly Sylvie and Stellan find their way back to each other and find their HEA. And puppies. Really cute puppies. This is perfect for the holiday season or if you just need a pick me up and a little insight to Lapland. Lovely narration.

Rounding up to a 5 (even though pining after a lost love drives me crazy).
I really enjoyed hearing about Lapland or Finland and I'm glad that Kiley Dunbar was able to weave details into Christmas at Frozen Falls. Experiencing the Frozen Falls must have been incredible for Sylvie. Also liked hearing about a sled dog ride and all the glass windows to experience the outdoors while indoors.
Sylvie vacations with her friend Nari who does travel blog posts. Most chapters alternate between Sylvie and Nari and Nari's blog posts. I really liked Nari's blog posts, even though they were the shortest part of the novel.
Thank you to NetGalley, Kiley Dunbar the author and Saga Egmont Audio for the opportunity to review this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. Publication date is scheduled for 30 Oct 2021.

This was a very light and feel good holiday story that I could easily see in a hallmark movie.
It follows two friends that decide to go to Finland after Sylvie gets dumped right before her wedding and paid honeymoon, where they reconnect with her finnish ex from college and his younger but very handsome and friendly colleague.
I kinda wished this book focused only in one couple, I think mixing both took away from feeling much about any of them since we couldn't dig as deeply as I would have liked. It was still a good read though and I enjoyed learning so much about northern Finland.

Christmas at Frozen Falls - what a gorgeous festive read! Poor Sylvie- our main character. - has had her wedding called off by her fiancée so she and her best friend decide to to Lapland to get away from it all. Think Husky rides, cosy cabins, cute husky puppies, thick snow ……this book has everything and a real thick
coating of romance on top because Sylvie didn’t choose this destination randomly - she knew her Finnish ex boyfriend she met at university all those years ago happens to come from here. Will she bump into him again?
This is the perfect read in the coming months and weeks leading up to Christmas snuggled up by the fire. I listened to the audiobook which is narrated by Helen Duff and oh - what a joy she made it! So,thank you Netgalley and Saga Egmont Audio for my Lappish Winter Wonderland Adventure!

This story was fun and easy to listen to. The characters are easy to like although the heroine could be a little stronger in my opinion. I loved the ending but felt like there wasn’t much character development.
