I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.

giving this a 3.5 because this was actually pretty decent for a ya thriller. it can be difficult to figure out where to draw the line for ya thrillers but i think this one did a pretty good job at balancing teens vs adult novels! the ending was a bit predictable but most ya novels tend to be. i loved the short chapters!

Saves this book until this time of year. This was a spooky but fun read. You know you're reading a good one when you find yourself talking to the book, expecting a response. The writing style flowed so well from the beginning that I found myself getting caught up in the story from the beginning. If Mr. Ralph continue to churn out stories like this, he has a long history of stories.

On the lookout for a good YA thriller? I have found that 2023 has been the "year of the thrillers" as my genres have been more in this category than others this year. I had previously read Vincent Ralph's book 14 Ways to Die and enjoyed it, so when I saw that he had written a new one Lock the Doors, I wanted to read it. I also have to admit as I was reading this title, I had Riley Sager's book Lock Every Door in my mind which was another title I enjoyed. In Lock the Doors, we meet Tom who has just moved into a new house with his family. His mum has remarried and Tom is moving in with his stepfather Jay and stepsister Nia. Tom is also viewed as sensitive and filled with quirks. One of the things he notices on the bedroom doors is locks. The thing though is that they are designed to lock people in, not keep people out. Why are the locks this way? Alice is a new student at Tom's school and has been given as Tom's buddy. She also used to live in Tom's house. Tom has tried asking her about the locks, but she keeps changing the subject. What happens too when Tom also finds strange writings "help me" and tally marks. Was his room Alice's or her brother Will's and what went on? Lock the Doors is a mystery thriller that will uncover a cold case as well though if Tom isn't careful, he may end up losing another person he cares about. Looking for another YA thriller to get your teeth stuck into? Check out Lock the Doors by Vincent Ralph.

The beginning of this book had some issues with pacing. It seemed to start in the middle and I wasn't a huge fan of the way the mystery was presented. There were some instances where it felt like the author was doing more showing than telling, particularly with the MC's history of domestic violence as well as his occasional issues with OCD. However, the second half of the book was strong and brought the story together nicely. Overall it was a solid read, but I feel like it could have used a better editor in the first half.

This was a thriller about a boy who had been through some trauma finding some weird things in his room at his new house and trying to find answers. I’ll admit, I thought it was predictable but I was wrong. What I thought was going to happened definitely did not.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC of Lock the Doors by Vincent Ralph.

This is honestly every true crime lover's dream come true. A total mind twist of a mystery, and you'll never believe how everything came to be until the second half. It's well written, and well fleshed out. I can already see the documentary (if it were a true story) on Amazon Prime now!

This is everything I love in a thriller. Great complex characters, setting that is so realistic you feel as you are there with them, intensity to keep you biting your lip...I was left hanging on for the next twist and was never disappointed. I love it

I love horror and thriller movies and books and tv shows and everything in that spectrum in general and I’m not usually easily spooked, but I’m not afraid to say I got chills from this title!

I had a great time reading this thriller! I enjoyed his other one, and this one sounded creepy and interesting, and it was! I really enjoyed watching Tom deal with this house that had locks on the bedrooms for keeping people in-and getting to know the previous inhabitants of the house!

Just like Vincent Ralph's first book, this has a bunch of very short chapters. Which are really easy to read, and has you turning the page quickly to know what was going to happen next in the mystery, and were just so compelling!

Tom most likely has some compulsive disorder, he checks the locks and has a routine that he has to do to settle down for the night. He notices details-like the lock on the bedroom door being on the outside. And when the family that used to live in their house moves into the house across the street, and the oldest girl goes to his school, well, he has to investigate.

I had an idea of where the story could go. But oh, I didn't expect the direction that it went in! That was really clever, and I really enjoyed watching it play out! It's understandable, how it worked out, though it was a little bit sad, not only the pain that they went through, but that was how it was ending. But it was a great ending!

This was a really great mystery, and I can't wait to read more by Vincent Ralph!

I felt like this book was longer than it should have been. But I did like that the chapters are short and this book had a interesting concept. I didn't expect the couple of plot twists. Overall, this was a decent read.

Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks Fire for this ebook for an honest review.

A fast paced thriller that you will not want to put down! Keeps your attention and just when you think you know, plot twist. There are a number of true life issues brought up in this book, anxiety, domestic violence, mental health, family issues. They're dealt with sensitively but not to the extent that they become the central focus of the story. Just a heads up for any possible triggers. Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for the advance ecopy.

I didn’t know what to expect going into this book but I enjoyed it! Liked the twist and overall plot of this novel!

Tom and his family move into a new house, but soon realizes something happened here. Tom notices the small holes on the outside of the door and strange messages on the walls. He tries to convince his parents that something is wrong. After learning the previous owners moved just around the block, Tom tries to discover what really happened and what caused them to move.

Easy read and great mystery/thriller!

That completely blew my mind. I’m fully attached to the characters right until the end. I loved it. Can’t even sum up all the good things about this book in one simple review.

Cheers indeed, Netgalley.

After Tom's mom gets remarried and they move into their dream home, he notices some weird things, like there being signs of the doors being locked from the outside. And in school, he is asked to show the new girl around, who ends up being the girl who used to live in his house... and she moved across the street. Thinking none of this is coincidence and knowing that the new girl is hiding something, he tries to find out what happened to her in that house. But is he ready to find out the answer, and turn their dream home into a nightmare?

I was given this ARC by the publisher in return for an honest review. Thank you!!

I just found this book to be okay. I wasn't wowed and I frankly found the lead character to be whiny and scared of his own shadow. I loved that they included some mental illness awareness (OCD) but it didn't make me like the character more. I also couldn't get behind Amy or grow to be interested in her plight or mystery. Just wasn't my favorite mystery and while I think the concept is super cool, it just could have been done better.

I enjoyed this a lot more than i thought i would, im not really into a lot of YA anymore but their thrillers always do me justice, i read 14 ways to die by ralph and loved it so i knew i wanted to read this as well. I always love a who done it kind of thriller where the main character turns detective and is out to find the truth. The side characters were also really enjoyable the found family dynamic was amazing. This is definitely for people who like fast paced thrillers as it gets right to the point.

If you are looking for your next read, one that will drive you up the walls and also keep you on the edge of your seat, then look no more. " Lock the Doors" by Vincent Ralph is for sure your next read and the best choice for you.

If I have to describe this book in one word, I thing that would be unputdownable, And I really mean unputdownable. From the very first page I was hooked, all I could think about was finding out what happened, and I could't wait to get them.

With every page I had so many questions: "Why there were locks on the outside of the bedroom doors? Why the previous owners of the house moved on the other side of the road"? Why, why and why?

I practically tore through this book on my quest to find the answers to my questions, and I can honestly say that it was worth it.

For sure I am going to recommend this book, and I am looking forward to reading more by this author.

This could have been told slightly differently but the way it was told was still pretty good. I did guess what happened, unfortunately.
