This was interesting and I’m not entirely sure how I feel about it. I’m sitting in the fence a bit honestly. I think I will do a reread and collect my thoughts.

I honestly thought this was a very cute take on reading, true crime. I got the illustrations were done wonderfully, and I liked the whole storyline.

Made for true crime lovers. If you sometimes wonder about your fascination with true crime and murder documentaries, this is the book for you. The author illustrates the stories that stuck with her and dives into why women are so into murder. I found it strangely relatable and found myself smiling as I read it.

As a true crime officiando I knew I had to read this graphic novel. I've never felt so seen by a novel before in my life. All of it was so spot on. I was laughing out loud while reading, and immediately recommended it to my mom. Was sad when it ended because I just wanted it to keep going.

A fine body of artwork. An engaging and captivating introduction to people who are not familiar with the true crime genre. But rest assured even though I am a true crime reader, the book's popular culture references are pretty specific to be enjoyed by a broader audience.

I was unsure at first how I was going to like this book. BUT I ended up really liking it! It was fun, witty and factual! I loved that the author made it about her and how she fell into love with true crime but that she sprinkled in real true crime cases that mattered to her or even one that was relevant when she was writing the book. I loved the jokes that only you would know if you know a lot of different cases too.
Sometimes some of the cartoons were chaotic and it would go off beat a little too far but overall it was a fun read!

The art in this book was really good but the text (size & placement) was a little all over the place. I did like hearing the author talk about her love of true crime.

This book explores why women are so fascinated with true crime that is much more of a memoir about the author's experiences with true crime. She asks a couple women about their reasons but doesn't really focus much on that, she moreso just focuses on how she learned about true crime and how her family bonds around it.

I was not a fan of the art style, the book was too long, most of the jokes were not especially funny, and the content was super rambling with nothing to break up the story - she would just jump from one discussion such as different books about true crime into a completely different topic such as her talking to her mom about how her family got into true crime. It absolutely set my ADHD on fire. A crumb of context, I beg of you. Break it up into chapters, have a heading, outline more cohesively, something, anything. The obsession with true crime is relatable, but there are much better books about women and true crime out there.

Note: I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley. I was not compensated in any other fashion for the review and the opinions reflected below are entirely my own. Special thanks to the publisher and author for providing the copy.

I really enjoyed this book. I always think that memoirs or true stories are really interesting when told through graphic novels. I thought Hilary's story was fascinating and humorous like she was standing in front of me and talking about these murders with me. I would definitely recommend this book to others, anybody who wants to learn more about murder and serial killers. Definitely a fun read.

I wanted to love this since I, like the author, consume a lot of true crime media.
The parts about it that I found the most interesting were the timelines of when different cases happened and how the true crime genre has evolved.

It's a funny read and if you enjoy true crime you will probably find a lot about this book very enjoyable.
The thing that didn't work for me about the story telling was the memoir aspect. I just wasn't that interested in the repetitive nature of figuring out why she so intrigued by true crime or the fake conversations with people to move the narrative along.

I really just wanted more talk about true crime cases.

I liked it more than I thought I would. The author tells us how she developed her love for true crime, and if you like the topic like me, this is a must. I thought I knew a lot about Ted Bundy, movies, series... now I know that I still have quite a big list to follow.

I have never read a POV from a true crime fan because personally I am! I could relate to the main character which I personally enjoyed the most and I laughed and giggled at some moments especially at the relatable ones!

A graphic novel on true crime by a prolific New Yorker cartoonist. This graphic Novel is a testament of the fact that women are the largest consumer of murder mysteries and this is about them.
Hilary Campbell is a professor who along with her mother and grandmother have an obsession for murder.
Absolutely hilarious take on this strange fandom of crime .
Thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for giving the eARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

I related to the narrator a lot, but felt it was too long and kept repeating the same information. If made more concise, I'd be higher on it.

I believe this would've been a lot more impactful and enjoyable for me if I were a true crime enthusiast, just like the author. The ilustrations are very nice and I liked all the bits of true crime information mixed with an honest portray of the author's experience with the genre and how she is perceived by other people due to her unusual interest (which is not unusual at all, and it's very nice that people get to read something like this and feel some sense of belonging).

It was interesting, although I was expecting something else, so that's why I didn't enjoy it as much.

I am absolutely not the audience for this book (graphic novels confuse me!) but I absolutely loved it. What a fun way to look at the obsession some of us (especially women!) have with true crime books and docu-series. More!

The art style of this graphic novel was unique and I loved how the art made the atmosphere of the book feel daunting! I really enjoyed the anecdote of how the love/obsession for true crime and murder mysteries was a generational love. This topic was very relate-able because I too have a fascination with true crime cases (maybe not to this extent lol). But it was an enjoyable read! This graphic novel is perfect for people are just starting to explore the genre, or are veteran readers! Especially if you have a love for true crime! This will not disappoint!
