Molly E. Lee never fails to draw me in from the first page and hold my attention until the last page. I literally loved everything about this book: the adventure, the romance, and a friend group that is goals.

First, I have to talk to talk about the adventure because who knew that a road trip to hell could be so fun? (Well besides the reason they go in the first place, obviously.) I was fascinated with the realms and the beings that inhabit them, the scenery, and even the food. Learning about it all and how different it was from what Harley expected, and what I expected too, was great. Although I will admit some aspects of a few realms gave me the shivers and in no circumstances would I step foot in them. That’s me being a wimp but oh well.

Next, the romance! Harley and Draven melted my heart in this book. Barriers that were up in the first book and had started to crack continue to come down in this one. It was sweet to watch them trust and support each other so much. Also the steamy moments were better because of that trust and support. (In my opinion anyways)

Lastly, the friend group. In Ember of Night, we met some characters that I wanted to spend more page time with and I’m happy to say I got that in Shadow of Light. I also got unexpectedly attached to some new ones too! With all of these characters, old and new, there was never a dull moment. I often found myself laughing out loud at their interactions or getting the warm fuzzies over how much they care about one another. Even if some won’t admit it.

Overall, I really loved this book and I can’t wait for the final installment in this series!

Shadow of Light is a dark and thrilling YA read. Molly E. Lee continues to excite readers with Harley and Draven's journey.

In this book, the second in the series, Draven realizes that Harley has brought him back to life. If he ever doubted how much she cared about him, everything about their relationship is crystal clear. Harley and Draven can't just have their happily ever after because another terror is in sight. Harley's sister Ray is being possessed by one of the darkest demons, Marid. What does he want with Ray and how can they save her?

Harley and Draven learn that the only way to save Ray is to go back to Hell, aka the Ather. They have to find the right team to aid them on their mission because it is going to take all the right people to pull this off. And if they don't, they all know that death is on the table.

There is so much happening in this book and it is never boring for a moment. The author keeps readers intrigued every step of the way and the paranormal themes are so enthralling. Harley and Draven learn so much about themselves and their connection and fans will eat this up. There are lots of new characters like Wallace and Cassiel that I feel like readers will enjoy getting to know.

I give Shadow of Light 5 stars. It's a captivating paranormal YA read. You won't be able to put this book down and once it's over you will be begging for more! What a great continuation to a jaw-dropping series!

**look up trigger warnings**

4.5 stars

Wow! This was such a fun read. I liked the first book but this one was on another level. The old characters definitely grew on me in this book and some awesome new characters were introduced. Reading a book with the found family trope is always so heartwarming. Gah, I loved it! Ray stole the show for me. She's just so freakin cute! I think i've found a new favorite series to obsess over. I mean, adventure, found family, kicka** fight scenes and genuine humor. What's not to like?

Book 2! More Draven! And I couldn't be happier!!

Harley, Ray, Draven and Cassiel need to stop Marid and there's only 1 way to do that. To go below, to hell, to the Ather.

Personally I would've been happy to read a story about Harley and Draven keeping house (!!!) as I'm sure you've guessed by now that Draven is my utter fave!!!!!!!

'I will find you. You know I will. I always will.'

But anyway, my fantasies of Draven saying that to me aside, they go to the Ather......

'The Ather, overwhelming odds, plenty of obstacles to overcome.'

And there is plenty to overcome. Drama, action, nasties, those spots of lust (I've decided I want to visit Lusro!!!) and it was magnificent!

More characters are introduced, Ryder, Rainier  Wrath and Wallace and I loved them all!

That ending. Jaw. Dropping.
Book 3 please!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Shadow of Light was an enjoyable and action packed book filled with great characters and storyline. This is the second book in The Ember of Night series and should be read after the first book. Definitely check the trigger warnings before reading, which are thankfully listed in the beginning of the book.

The plot while a bit predictable was still very interesting and the world building was just amazing. There also were a lot of action and fight scenes, which were highly entertaining.

Some of my favorite aspects of this book were all the pop culture references, the chosen family trope, and all the side characters. However, my one issue with this book was the constant repetitiveness of certain dialogue and statements.

The heroine, Harley had such an intriguing storyline and character development. Her struggles overcoming her past and accepting her worth was heartbreakingly beautiful and well written. The romance between Harley and Draven was also just perfect as they had great chemistry, banter, and angst. Additionally, there were also a few slightly spicy moments between them.

The ending does leave off on a huge cliffhanger, which I was not expecting so I am excited to continue this series. Overall, just an entertaining and quick read with an unforgettable adventure.

Wow what a fun and addicting adventure. I loved the first book and love the second one even more! All of the characters are written so well and the new characters just make the book even better. It was a little slow at first but picked up quickly and I didn’t want to put it down. I need book 3 now!

After I finished the first book I didn't know what I was going to do waiting for another. I was so grateful to be given this chance to early read the second, and now here I am again waiting for the third!

I absolutely love this book. There was so much action that it keeps you engaged and not wanting to put it down. There are some parts I felt were slightly predictable but I was still left in awe and wanting more.

Molly E. Lee’s ‘Shadow of Light’ drops us straight back into the supernatural fray, beginning right where its predecessor, ‘Ember of Night,’ left us. And there’s not really another break in action until right before its cliffhanger ending.

Harley knew that she was different, that her powers came from somewhere otherworldly. But, the last thing she expects after she brings Draven back from the dead is to be told she’s technically the antichrist. Still processing what exactly that means, Harley and Draven return to Harley’s little sister, Ray, and discover that Ray can be possessed by their adversary, a demon named Marid. The only thing they can do is take a little trip to the place that humans refer to as hell, to hopefully sever Marid’s hold on Ray. What could possibly go wrong with that plan?

As I mentioned above, this book is chock full of action, pretty much from beginning to end. There’s more mythological plot development and the introduction of some delightful secondary characters, namely, Wallace and Ryder. And the tie between Harley and Draven is only amplified throughout the progression of the story. (Be ready for some steam, folks!)

Even though all of the action and supernatural mythology is cool, at its core, this is a story about relationships. Lee does a great job of exploring various dynamics throughout the book, whether they be platonic, romantic, or fraternal. The cliffhanger ending was kind of a killer (in the best way possible)… and I cannot wait to read book three.

A YA fantasy of sisterhood, family, and the lengths you’ll go to save the ones you love, Shadow of Light has tons of intense, heart-pounding action, surprising revelations, and immersive and vivid world-building. The story is so immersive and intriguing, and it sucked me right in. The characters and world-building are dynamic and intriguing, and I couldn’t wait to find out what happened, especially after the ending of the first book! Plus, there’s the romance!

The book picks up where Ember of Night left off. Determined to kill the demon who has possessed her beloved younger sister, Hayley journeys to Hell with her sister Ray, Draven, and others by her side. As they travel through the different circles of Hell, they must face demons, the ever-present threat of the Twelve Greater Demons, and many other obstacles before they can break the tether that ties Ray to the evil demon that possesses her.

This is a great continuation of the series, and the author creates such a unique, vivid, and frighteningly dangerous world. I was captivated by each new setting that Harley and the others travel to. They are intriguing and dangerous, and you never know what might happen in each new place that they go to. Danger comes from every direction for Harley, and there is a building sense of urgency surrounding her quest. It makes for a super intense and suspenseful read.

Harley grows a lot throughout her journey, and she learns so much about her powers. I enjoyed seeing her become more self-aware, stronger, and she never loses her sense of humor or her sarcastic wit. She also cares deeply and will do anything for those she loves. Harley’s love for Ray is what propels her throughout the series, and their relationship is wonderful. I love Ray! She always has such a positive attitude and tries to see the good in everyone. She is a strong foil to Harley, who is a bit more jaded and cynical.

I also love the found family aspect of the story, and it’s really powerful when they are referred to as Harley’s tribe. In the midst of the danger and chaos, Harley has found her people, and that is a wonderful thing. Old characters and new become close and aid Harley in her quest, and their growth as a unit adds an interesting layer to the story. I’m curious to see how these relationships grow and change as the story continues. I’m particularly intrigued by a character who has minor but significant role in the story. He doesn’t actually go on the quest with Harley and the others, but he has a unique connection to her. I have a feeling he might have a larger role in the story, and I’m eager to learn more about this intriguing character.

Of course, I have to talk about the romance because it is swoon-tastic! Harley and Draven are a team, and they are so good together. Their relationship is not without conflict. They don’t always agree, and both make mistakes, but their bond is strong and continues to strengthen in this story. There are some wonderfully tender moments that show just how deeply this couple cares for one another, and I think they both open up more about their feelings, which is lovely. This relationship has come a long way, and I have a feeling it will continue to face challenges and grow as the series continues.

Shadow of Light is a fast-paced, action-packed addition to the series, and I enjoyed every nail-biting second of it. An immersive read with great messages and characters (plus an awesome romance!), this is a great read for lovers of YA fantasy. I would recommend reading the first book in the series before you read this one, as it is not really a standalone. Thanks so much to NetGalley, Entangled Teen, and Molly E. Lee for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review. I’m loving this series and can’t wait to see what happens next in Harley’s journey!

For starters, I like this series. The premise and concepts created by the author are enjoyable. My main reason for not rating higher is the MC grates my nerves. Her obsession with her sister and poor self esteem due to her traumatic upbringing stresses me out and irritates me. And her relationship with the male lead is unhealthy at times, but that's also why I didn't rate lower despite my grievances. They're young people that are realistic in dealing with their relationship and struggling with their traumas. Be warned, though, that this series does have cursing and sexual situations/tension, so if that's a deal breaker for you, you won't enjoy the series if you can't overlook it.

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this second installment of Ember Of The Night series, so when I got emailed the ARC book I practically screamed with excitement, I couldn't wait to dive into this awesome world again.

𝙏𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙙 𝙨𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙮 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨𝙣'𝙩 𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙨𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚........𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪."

Shadow of Light carries straight off from where we was left in Book 1, After Harley saves Daven from death,  he tells her she is the key to opening the gates to hell. Harley refuses to even think that she is a key for opening hell, until her little sister Ray is taken over by Marid, yes the Marid that's been haunting and tormenting Ray in Book 1. Well for Harley this changes everything because she will go to the end of the earth, and into hell to stop Marid from possessing her. This was a hair-raising and breathtaking adventure. You just never know what was around the corner, as our favourite characters take a trip to hell, as Harley finds out the only way to break the tether between Marid and Ray and to stop his revenge whenever he wants. Is to enter hell itself.

Harley we see grow into her powers so much in this book, she is an absolutely wicked character I love her kickass attitude and her sarcasm is fantastic haha. The love and protectiveness she has for Ray. Daven and Harley baiter and sense of humour is amazing, I was laughing out loud at some of their scenes and it was so brilliant. Daven has always been my favourite character. I absolutely love him, and his and Harley relationship grows and it is so adorable.

We meet old and some new characters in the shadow of light. This second book has everything, action, romance, and a thrilling exciting adventure, and the ending just had me screaming, noooooo you can't leave there lol. You won't ever want  it to end. This is one of my favourite series of the year and I am so excited for Spark of Ash. The third installment. Molly has written this series so well, you can't help but fall in love with the characters, I can't recommend this series enough. You wont regret it and it will stay with you for a very long time. Bring on Book 3.

Shadow of Light is the sequel to Molly’s debut novel. Perfect for fans of Brigid Kemmerer and Tracy Wolff! Draven and Raiden are both very strong protagonists & I adored the plot.

I love this author and this book did not disappoint. Normally I have two or three books going at a time and transition back and forth as I get easily bored. Not so with this one. I read it every second I could. I carried it around with me and read every chance I could. Truly captivating!!!

WOW.........I was expecting to enjoy this book but Molly Lee has stepped up her game with the second book in this series.

This one starts out with where book one left off...It was seamless in its introduction and sucked me right in. The story starts off with Harley finding out that her sister Ray can be possessed by one of Demons of hell. She goes on a mission to remove the tether that the demon has on her sister and here is where the adventure starts. Within the story you get to meet a lot of new characters including Wallace who is the guide for Harley and her rag tag team of saviors. Wallace was fun and I loved her snarky banter with Harley very much. I looked forward to reading their interactions in the book. She was fun and laugh out loud funny! The steam between Harley and Draven picked up a notch and I loved everything about them. Harley deserves some happiness and I am glad she has Draven. I was kinda expecting what happens at the end but was still a bit surprised. The book leaves on a major cliffhanger so we will be in for a bit of a wait for book 3. I will be anxiously waiting because this book hooked me bad and I for one cannot wait to see what happens next! If I could give this book more than 5 stars would. Well Done Molly Lee you knocked it out of the park. I give this book 5 out of this world stars!!!!

Thank you to Riki Cleveland and Entangled Publishing for the copy of this book. All opinions are my own and I was not compensated for this review.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This book was so much better than the first one and the first one was amazing.
This was one hell of a story! Love the new characters we were introduced to in the book. Wallace is such a badass. Harley has grown so much from the first book and I really admire that she is willing to do anything to keep her sister safe and of course, I love sarcastic and snarkiness in the book! Now, the ending of this one is something I may never recover from until I have the third book. But now, I have to wait till May 3, 2022, to find out what happens next.

This book was so much better than the first one and the first one was amazing. Honestly the author has done such a good job of making me love the main character OK not only like the main character but I also have respect for the main character. Harley will do anything to make sure that the people that she loves are safe. Instead of wallowing in her bad situation she took all that and turned it into strength . This plot line is so interesting I’ve never read a book with any similar plot line to this and I absolutely love it. I love the banter that goes on between the found family and especially between Harley and Draven. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book.

Molly E. Lee is a storytelling master. I was just as sucked into this sequel as fast as I was with the first book. Maybe even more so. Harley and Draven are taken on a crazy journey to try and save Ray from the connection Marid has with her. All the odds seem against them as they struggle through setback after setback. The characters they meet and who join their group along this journey are an unlikely group of friends. Each character introduced has a unique purpose, and has an integral part of the plot. There were definitely no "throw away characters". Every new twist or revelation sideswiped me leaving me gasping and reading late into the night because I had such a hard time walking away from this story. A lot of times sequels get lost in the whole 2nd book syndrome... where they are mostly fluff and filler with a little bit of storyline to get to the big conclusion. This was not the case. I loved every minute of it.

The journey through Hell (or really the Ather) was definitely an interesting part of this story. Molly's descriptions of each new level was so well done that unfortunately each new horror was brought to life around me. Do not even get me started on Marid and his snakes :shudder:: ... and also sand ants.... absolutely terrifying. Ranier was a surprising twist for me.. (You will have to read it to find out ).

It was an exciting ride filled with many twist and turns, and spicy moments. I absolutely loved it. However, the ending!!!!!!!!!!! Talk about cliff hanger endings that beat all cliff hanger endings.... I might be quite angry about it. I do not even know how I am going to wait to find out the meaning of those last few sentences. I was dumbfounded, shocked into silence, yet also screaming internally. Molly, you are an evil genius.
